Hey everyone! I had my shower this weekend and I finally feel that a little weight has been lifted and I can continue my "nesting". They actually suprised me so it was a fun weekend but I got some doubles off my registery. I also got a few things that weren't that I want to exchange for things we picked out. Anyone have any advice about Babies r us? Most of the gifts do not have gift receipts.

Thanks!

Hey Jen!! :) Yeah I didn't have a problem this past weekend. I even returned my travel system I registered for, for a different lighter one, they didn't even bat an eye. I only have one mystery item I want to return but don't know where it came from...Babies r us said no, but its a Dora food set. We'll see, I'll find it.

When I had to return stuff to Babies r us they didn't ask for a receipt I didn't have problem returning anything, and I am pretty sure it didn't all come from there. that could have changed.

I went today and asked about the discount for the things you didn't get at your shower. They said that 2 weeks before your due date you get a 10% off discount towards the items. It doesn't seem like that much time but Feb 8th would be my 2 weeks. And next weekends the superbowl so I cannot imagine my husband goiong anyway!

Its my understanding that as long as the item is on your registry, you're fine without a gift receipt. However, if you are trying to return an item that you received and it was not on your registry then BRU will not accept the return...even for an in store credit!

oh and Nicole is right, make sure u have ur registry printed out when u go to exchange stuff, they'll need to scan the number at the top to make sure that stuff u buy off ur registry gets updated as purchased so that u won't have the same problem again (in case someone decides to be traditional & send u a gift after the baby is born) :)

just had the same thing happening to me -- keep the items in original package (don't open them) and as long as they have stickers on them, u'll be able to return/exchange whatever you need. for the most part, babies r us are good about stuff like that -- the only concerns might be bottles, nipples & breast pump accessories if they've been opened unless they don't work properly. but in your case, you should be able to return whatever you don't need/want anymore. and if you got clothes, keep some of the tags on just in case -- sometimes the NB & 0-3months stuff is not as necessary as u may think (at least not in quantities u need) or vice versa, u might need more small clothes & would want to exchange some of the bigger things for the stuff u'll need immediately.
good luck!

Just print out your registry when you go to return or exchange stuff. They're pretty good about returns & exchanges, they'll more thanlikely give you store credit which is just as useful : ) I was told I was having a girl at my 20 week ultrasound and then told I'm having a boy at my 35 week ultrasound so I had to return my baby girl bedding for something neatral incase I got one or the other and they let me exchange it even though I didn't have any of the packaging, reciepts and I washed it!

Good Luck!
