Hi, I went to my first baby and toddler group last week and i found it was very awkward for me as I am not from around here (but moved here 2 years ago and havent made many friends really). I found the ladies very "group-ish" they only wanted to assossciate with the friends they had. I really dont want my little boy (Logan) 7 months now to grow up with no friends, does anyone have any ideas? Are all toddler groups like this or is it a matter of just going to as many other ones as I can find?? I am not an antisocial person at all and love meeting new people its just that the town i live in seems very closed to outsiders. Any advice would be great, thanks ladies!

While I don't agree with what the "ladies" in the group did, I would encourage you to stick with it and keep attending. Perhaps after seeing you after a few sessions, they will warm up to the idea of someone new in their group. It's really important for you (well...your sanity really) and your son to make new friends to talk to and share ideas and stories with. I think you will find it very rewarding. The best of luck to you!

Preston and I go to the local parks. I've met a lot of moms there and have regular park friends that we meet up and go together. I also go on a lot of walks around our neighborhood and ask to see anyone who is walking a baby to see their baby. This usually starts conversations and I see them regularly and then have become friends. It is tough but look for as many mom groups in your area or classes that pertain to just your boy's age and I am sure you'll find other like you. :)
