I thought I did things in style, Owain was 8 days early and weighed 7lb 9oz.  Glad it all went fine in the end.  How many kids do you have? How old are they? I have joshua who is 8 from a previous relationship and Owain who is 6 weeks old with my present partner keith who I am marrying in July.

well, i was 3 days over due and was the 8th of feb, in our village we had near on 8-9, 11-12 in some places inches of snow as had constantly been snowing for a week. I started to get really bad stomach ache, not contraction pains, like as if i had eaten somehting funny and it hadnt agreed with me. so left it about an hour before i wrang the hospital to see if they would look me over as my hands, feet eveyrthing started swelling (thought pre-ecylamsia), got my daughter dressed and headed out for the car and it was frozen solid, so my husband went over to our neighbours to see if we could use their car, but theirs was the same. Luckly the wife of the couple worked for St Johns ambulance and called them to send out their 4x4 ambulance out to take me to hospital. Also wrang NHS paramedics to get them out. At 1:30am my waters broke in the kitchen and still no sign of ambulance or st johns. So made myself comfy on the kitchen floor. St Johns did eventually arrive at 2am so took the near on an hour to get to us. They check how dilated i was and said that i had awhile to go, then my sons head popped out at 2:07am (which i told them that he had come and they were in shock cos i wasnt fully dilated 7 mins before) then the rest of him popped out at 2:15am, followed by the NHS arriving. My midwife was also stuck in the snow and took her nearly 2 hours to get 8 miles to us, not arriving till 3am. Didnt see the point in going to hospital in the end, as we were both fine. He was born happy and healthy weighing 9lb 15oz. He was he first baby to be delievered by St Johns Ambulance so was on the radio, paper, internet telling of what happen.

Glad your little one was born safe and sound xxx

My water broke at 5 in the morning and was quite chilled until My partner Keith looked out the window and said have you seen out side, there was 6 inches of snow and it was still coming down.  I then made the decision to ring my parents as we had no car because ours had be written of on the sunday before. My dad came over and while my mum looked after josh my dad droves us to hospital which took an hour rather then 5 minutes. Once we got to hospital we discovered there was only one midwife on so we just had to wait in a room.  After they said they were going to send me home if things wern't progressing I started walking round the room which kicked everything off, Owain was born in a rush at 8.13.  How did you get on? Did a Midwife get to you?

Hi Gemma i gave birth to my son during the middle of the snow aswell. in the end had to have him on the kitchen floor as the village we live in was completely cut off by ice and snow, plus the car was frozen solid. Did you manage to make it to hospital? Anjie :)
