Baby gets hiccups at least 2 or 3 times a day lately. It is so normal that I don't really notice them anymore. Only when I'm sitting down and relaxed is when I notice the hiccups and contractions. I have about 15 contractions a day. I'm at 37 weeks and have induction date of Jan 28th due to baby's size.

My baby hiccups all the time as well. She was doing it the other day during my non stress test and it was the funniest thing. It lasted for about 15 minutes, and her heart rate increased when she had them, too. I've noticed in the past week that she's been doing it more frequently. I asked about it and they assured me that she's normal. I also notice them more when I'm sitting and relaxing than when I'm up moving around. Her favorite time to get them is about 3 am!!

My baby hiccups all the time too. The only time it seems to frustrate her is when eating so now I wait til there gone to feed her.

My first baby had hiccups all the time and for some time after she was born she continued to have hiccups all the time. My baby now has hiccups about 5 times or more a day inside of me, it is such a weird feeling huh? But it is good to know they are doing well.

My little guy hiccups ALL the time. I'm so used to it now when he's not doing I'm wondering if he's ok! This is our first baby so at first I wasn't sure what he was doing in there but asked my OB and she explained it - totally normal. And it is constant.

I got out my fetal doppler the other day when my baby boy had the hiccups, just to see if I could hear them. I couldn't hear the hiccups, but his heart rate was a little faster than usual. Funny, they must get annoyed by them too :)

Yes, hiccups are normal. They are practicing their breathing and strengthening their lungs. It's a funny feeling :) It's comforting to know, because that is when you know that they are doing well in there! Only a couple more days! Yay!

My baby does as well! It's normal according to my doctor and the books I've read.

I asked my midwife about this last week, and she said its actually a good sign. She said that it means that the baby is practicing breathing which is good because its helping there lungs prepare to breath oxygen after they are born.

Thanks for the replies!  It got so bad I finally did a little on-line research and you're right...it's normal.  How it can be soothing to them, I don't know (because a lot of times...especially when I'm trying to sleep, it's not to me) but apparently, it's supposed to be good for them.  Who knew!  It also means our babies are healthy and maturing well.  Thanks!  Krysta
