I can now feel pressure on my pelvic bones, so I think baby is dropping into place. I hope this means the wait is nearly over! I don't remember this pressure with my first pregnancy, but my daughter didn't engage till labour started. I saw my obs yesterday and she said that if I hadn't given birth by next Friday, then they will induce, coz they reckon it's a 9lb baby already. I can't shake the feeling that this pregnancy is never going to end!

ps. congrats to all the mums who have already had their babies. And keeping everything crossed for all of us who are still waiting. I think there should be a special prize for the last one! As if holding your newborn isn't reward enough!

Hi Tina, don't be embarressed to talk to your midwife - that's what she's ther for. But it does sound like your baby isn't engaged, which is unusual for a first baby at this stage. It's nothing to worry about though - my first didn't engage till I was two weeks late. Although it's no help, coz you're obviously anxious to meet your new baby, the apple won't drop till it's ripe. And there's not much you can do about it. But you will be having your baby soon, you've waited 9 months, so a few more days are nothing in the scheme of things. I can remember how upset I got when my first was so overdue. I'm determined not to raise my expectations this time - I'd love to have my baby today, but I'm expecting it to be late, so if it comes on time, then it will be a bonus. When is your due date btw - I've forgotton. I'm due Saturday.

With my first, I was getting contractions for at least 4 weeks before labour started. So I'm trying hard not to read too much into them now. Saw my mw today - baby isn't engaged. See my obs on Friday, and she's going to do a cervical sweep, to see what's happening inside. I'm so hoping things are moving down there! She'll give me a date then, when they're going to evict him/her!

how are things going with me? we'll as you've been aware, I'm obsessed with this baby coming out. I am tired, and I am anxious. I tried everything i've heard, pineapple, spicy foods, pumping, pressure points, birthing balls, walking, stairs (two at a time), castor oil, I'm going to try wine later on tonight, but nothing is helping. It's frustrating because I'm getting so many menstrual cramping and low back pelvic pain, but nothing seems to be happening. my whole stomach will cramp up and prove that I'm having a contraction, but only the left side of my pelvis is hurting, or feeling the contraction. I don't really know what that means or if it is significant. I would like to call my MW but too embarrased to do so.

I'm starting to get a bit of  a head ache, and a low grade fever of 99.3. I know it's not enough to worry about, but I'm just wondering if it's going to get higher. I'm going to try and take some tylenol right now. ugh I just want this to be over, and I guess start with the fun of 6 weeks of a period!! lol!

good luck with you too!

Hi Tina, I've been trying acupressure, and it really does bring on contractions - whether ot not it's going to bring on labour remains to be seen! I googled it, and found a site with instructions. There's a pressure point on the top of your hand, on the fleshy part of the "webbing" between the thumb and forefinger. I've just been massaging it quite firmly on and off all evening, and it does seem to start contractions. But they don't last long.

I think my baby is up and down too - sometimes it feels like it's crushing my pelvic bones - it really hurts! ~But other times it seems to be lodged in my solar plexus. I've tried walks too - but it's tough when your back aches and your pelvis hurts! I took my daughter out for a walk around the local duck pond, and I inexplicably got lost! Me and little Rowan ended up walking for miles - poor little mite isn't even two yet, and bless her heart, she didn't complain. My boyfriend rang me when I'd been missing for over an hour, and I had no idea where I was. Thank god my waters didn't break then!

I'm not due till Saturday, but my obstetrician told me that if I haven't had the baby by this Friday, they'll assess me for induction, because of the size of the baby, and if things look favourable then I can be induced hopefully over the weekend. But I've been down the induction path before, and I'll only go for it if my cervix is ready. No point otherwise...

How's things going with you?

my baby is a floater. He keeps going up and down. last night he was down and I could feel his head in my pelvis and i had to pee more. now he's back up and I'm due tomorrow. I went and took a long walk yesterday to see if I could get things started and i got some contractions, but nothing to get me started today. I hope to walk again today after I am done baby sitting (they're asleep now). Then I'll try pumping and all of those fun inducing games! good luck
