I was reading a conversation about putting your child to bed and most of them talked about a bath...Do you all give your child a bath every night?

i give my kids a bath every other or every 2 nights...they don't get dirty just being inside the house all day, but if the have a really bad diaper rash the get a small bath with every change just to make sure their clean and the cool water is soothing on their bottoms, but if u were to ask my daughter she would want a bath 3-4 times a day, she LOVES water

My little guy gets bathed EVERY night before bed. I do it more so he gets a hot water bath before bed to soothe his back and legs, since he is very active during the day. Of course, he goes to daycare and they do make them play outside everyday for a half hour, so its an added benefit of bathing. We don't use soap everyday and also we don't wash his hair everyday. His hair gets washed every other day - on the days that I use soap. He LOVES bath time, its part of our bedtime routine. Sometimes, the poor guy is soooo tired, he falls asleep hugging my arms as I pour out hot water on his back, it is that soothing for him!! We brush his teeth as well, he gets lotion every night and morning, since it is dry where we live. I guess, every baby is different and whatever works for one child may not work for another. So, have fun with your little ones whether its bathing them once a week or twice a day. It is soooo fun to see them relax and enjoy! :) Cheers.

My daughter gets a bath two or three times a week. She LOVES the bath and would happily take one every day ... and if she "feeds her hair" she gets one. Do what feels right for you and your baby.

My son likes to "feed" his hair at dinnertime (and every other meal time!) so i dont really have a choice but to bath him every night. If I can get away with it I will. when he was little (before meal times became super messy) he would have a bath every other day.

I give my son a bath every night. I have done this ever since he lost his belly button plug. I use the calming bath soap with lavender from Johnson n Johnson. This makes him very relaxed and easy to lay down. This is part of his routine every night. It's fun, relaxing, and gets your baby fresh and clean before he or she goes to bed.

haha, thanks Kerry for posting b/c I bathe my son (13mos) only twice a week - been doing this since he was an infant. If he has a cold or flair up (he has moderate to severe eczema) then only once a week - seriously. I will wash his hands as needed and his bottom as needed but otherwise once or twice a week and guess what - you may think I'm insane but RARELY do I use soap. I will shampoo his hair and soap his diaper area but otherwise rare. Why? 1) He has eczema, 2) his dermatologist suggested it and 3) so many soaps even Johnson's has harsh, cancer-causing chemicals in them (you wanna know why every is dying from cancer: http://www.safecosmetics.org/ ). You can get other types of soap, like Castile works great, that isn't made with chemicals. But people think you need a good soap and water bath daily and you don't, esp. not babies unless they are obviously dirty.

I wonder what people think the general population used to do before indoor plumbing and heated water. Freezing cold bath in the middle of winter outside? I'm sure a lot of people skipped it, regularly. And most people survived just fine. But of course, I'm not telling anyone what to do. Do what you think best, you are the parent. Esp. if it helps the little ones to get to sleep easier.

I give a bath nightly for both my little guys. It's nice to have a routine and it also gets them relaxed for bedtime. Of course if we skip a night here and there it's no big deal.

My son gets a bubble bath every night. He loves it and it helps settle him down for bed time.We didn't start it till he was one though.

I have never given my babies baths every night. We live in a dry climate, they have dry skin, and usually the baby doesn't get dirty enough to take a bath every night. With my baby it's every third night. As my kids get older they take baths and showers more often.

[deleted account]

i do it like every other night at the least. He loves his baths though and he's a dirty kid, lol, so sometimes he wants it all the time.

I give my kids one every day...kids and germs go hand in hand! I think putting your kids in bed with germs to get on their nice clean bedding just gross! So They get cleaned! Plus it calms them down before bed.....plus doing a routine keeps them on a better night time schedual!

I bath my 13 month old daughter every morning, we don't do bath at night b/c she gets very hyper after bath and she has very curly hair that needs to be tamed after sleeping all night.

Every other to every third night. We do keep the rest of the elements of our bedtime the same, though. PJ's, teeth brushed, etc. Our pediatrician actually told us that if baby has sensitive or dry skin (which mine does) you can put them in the warm batheach night for a couple of minutes then get them out and lotion them up. Don't need to use soap each time. Using the warm water before the lotion helps open the pores so the lotion can absorb better for keeping the skin moist.

at least five or six times a week. We have tile and hard wood floors and no matter how often I sweep and steam them, my toddler's feet don't seem clean and my crawler's hands and knees are on the floors all day. So, I prefer every night unless we're out for the evening and don't get home in time to give them a bath long enough before bed. Too close to bed and the bath actual revives and wakens them and they don't go to bed as easily.

i give my daughter a bath about 2 times a week. Her skin is dry and since living in the Northeast in the winter, I have to put lotion on her a lot. Perhaps when it gets warmer and she sweats more, we will probably do a bath more frequently.

I bath my daughter every night as she always gets lunch/dinner in her hair so it needs washing everynight, they say you shouldnt as it dries out there skin but my daughters skin is lovely and soft, she also never suffers with nappy rash so i must be doing something right :-)

My baby is a year old and I give him a bath usually every day. Unless he hasn't played around or gotten dirty (which rarely happens), then it's the next day usually in the morning. I don't give him baths at night, sometimes he gives me a little bit of a rough time at bedtime, but a warm bottle of milk and playing with his hair puts him right to sleep. He loves his bath time but I prefer to give it to him during the day after breakfast/lunch and after he's played around a little bit.

Ever since we got out of hospital Slayde has had a wash , baths didn't last long and he just hopped in the shower with his Dad good bonding together time. Since my partner works very long hours and 6 days a week we thought that at least one routine at the end of the day will help him for bed and now we can ask him after dinner "are you ready for a shower" and Slayde will head off down the hall way and wait at the bathroom door for his Dad also taking his nappy off he is very comfordable with the routine.

I do only because it is his bedtime routine, but I only wash his hair when it gets dirty. I think really it is up to you how often and how your bedtime routine works. Other people find giving a bath in the morning is better. My little one loves the shower so he sometime comes in with me then.

Brooke get's a bath every night after dinner. However, we don't use soap every night. About three nights a week we use soap and the other nights it's just plain water. We use lotion every night before we put on her pj's.

I do my son every other night, but if it was up to him he'd like every night since his older brother ( 8 ) loves taking them every night and that makes him unwind.

We used to only give him a bath a couple of times a week, he was never a very messy baby. But we recently were re-vamping his bedtime routine, and I also noticed a lot of sources mentioned bath, books, bottle, bed....so that's what we do. He likes splashing around, and although I don't think it does much to calm him down, he does know it's part of the bedtime routine.

My son gets a bath every night, after dinner. Just a routine we've always stuck with - and besides that, he's a messy little boy! He has pretty good skin, so he's lucky with not having to deal with dry skin or eczema.

I did when I was getting my son on a bedtime routine. I would give him a real bath every other night and a plain water bath in between. Of course lotion and eczema cream afterwards. Then when he started getting used to the routine and I thought he could go to sleep without a bath I started bathing him just every other night. On the nights I don't bathe him I still wash his face and hands and put lotion on him. Also, once his schedule gt messed up when we went out of town so I started bathing j again every night to get him back on his normal routine/schedule.

I don't only every other night unless she gets really dirty eating or something. I do make sure to wash her diaper area everyday thought b/c she gets yeast infections really quick.
