Garrett will be 1 on Feb 13 and i thinnk i'm gonna put in the invitations No toys. Toys have taken over my house since Christmas. I'm gonna ask that any presents be either books or clothes that Garrett can grow into. As far as what I'm getting him I'll probably do the same clothes and books.

The melissa and doug castel, cozy coup, lap top, books, power wheels, push toys, ect. therer just so many things.

I'm getting my son a potty seat, panties, potty books, scotty potty doll, a bike, and a kids tough dvd player. For my daughters 1st bday I got her a power wheel and the american girl bitty baby twins with like the crib, changing table and like 5 matching outfits for her doll and some other things too.

But I do have to say parents that get there kids all clothes and have there gest bring all clothes. YOUR SELFISH it's not your birthday it there no babies care about clothes. This is there one day out of the year that its about them not you. Get your kids toys it there day!!

Depending on the toy situation, I'd say a soft dolly is always great. Turning 1 is a great milestone. The child will have more fun in the wrapping paper and stuff, so going light is always best, especially when there are so many that will be giving.

Or get a height chart to start up the year by year measuring tradition! We will get our wee man an interactive bath toy to stick on the side of the bath and these fun bags called Peek a boo Bags - aged for 2yrs plus but if you sat with your child in your lap and talked your way through the bag I don't see why it would not be suitable! What ever you do, big, small, medium or nothing at all but a bunch of cuddles and smooches they probably wont remember anyhow!

My Emma is turning one on Jan. 26 and I alos have a house that is cover in toys that she got for Christmas. For her birthday, her grandparents are getting her a new carseat. One that is a little bigger that she can grow into. Her father and I got her the Laugh and Learn Bounce and Spin Pony which will also grow with her. It is for little one 12 to 24 months and it eventually will interact with the TV. Kind of like a Wii for babies. It helps teach colors, shapes, number, letters, etc... We will see if she likes it!! We aren't going all out for her birthday party either. Just the grandparents are coming over for dinner. We are going to give Emma her own cake and let her go to town. Should be fun!!

Hi there I know you posted this awhile ago but I am just reading it now and thought I would share an idea!! My daughter, Olivia, will be 1 year old on February 6th and like so many others have said she has soooooo many toys from christmas. We bought her the bouncy pony that goes to the tv, a play house by fisher price, and a long list of many others that just take up sOOO much space lol!!

So I found the cutest present for her birthday!! it is a DISNEY PRINCESS flat screen 15" television. It is pricey, 259.00 but it is something that she can have until she is a teenager!! You can find it at target online and sears online!!

Hope that this may spark some ideas!! We also bought her a matching pink dvd player for christmas!! This way she can watch her baby einstein movies while she plays and play with her bouncy pony without taking up the television in the living room!! Again hopes this sparks some good ideas for ya!!

Good luck and god bless!!

My bub will be 1 on the 12th of feb and since she gets all the hand me down clothes from my niece she will be getting some Fisher Price little people toys that can be added to as time goes by. Since the boxes say from 1 - 4 we will be able to get some good use out of it. Also she loves Shaun the Sheep (a uk show).

My son recieved a bead and wire table (like at the doctors office) for christmas. It was the best gift. Not only does he love it now but the 4 and 5 year olds that stop by play with it as well, so I know he will enjoy this for years to come.

Also I seen someone say something about a Vtech laptop for a baby? I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find one at. My son is obsessed with laptops, we cant even use one when hes in the room because he goes nuts to have it.

My sons first birthday is comming up on Februaru 14th. I havent quite yet decided what I'm going to do theme wise probably winnie the pooh since everything he has is winnie the pooh but I could change my mind. At christmas he was spoiled and got a lot of toys so I didn't know what to get him toy wise for his birthday so I'm getting him a toy box. I know hes probably a little too young for one but he has so many toys and I have no room for them anymore and I know he will probably get more for his birthday! So I thought the toy box was the best way to go.

I agree with the "way too many presents from Christmas" sentiments. We've decided to forego the big party this time around and put that money in her college fund. She has so many toys, books, clothes that adding to them didn't make any sense. We're still going to celebrate the big milestone with lots of cake and fun, just family though.

I don't plan on doing anything to extravagant for my daughter's birthday, but there will be a lot of people, as we have alot of family and friends who will want to be there. I'm thinking of doing a winnie the pooh theme, as my daughter loves winnie the pooh. And I plan to get her her own mini-cake as well as the normal sized one. I'm still deciding if I should have the party at home or if it would be easier if we went out to mickey d's or something.

Is she walking yet? If not maybe a Push toy that can help her get going, my daughter loved hers when she started walking, and since we got one that converts into a riding toy, she'll still have a while of use out of it yet. I'm thinking about getting my daughter a training potty and a piggy bank(as she doesn't have one yet), to start putting money in for her. I know it may seem a little early for a training potty, but my neice was potty trained by 18 months and she seemed to be on a similar development curve as my daughter. And even if she doesn't train that early, it never hurts to get her used to the chair first.

We have the same problem. Way to many toys from Christmas. We asked all the grandparents that instead of buying more toys for our daughters b-day to get her savings bonds for when she is older. So when she is ready for college she will have some extra money for herself. We are doing a ladybug theme for her b-day to try and bring spring a little early. Plus she loves anything red! and her nickname is ladybug. We haven't figured out what we are buying her yet since she has everything but I'm sure we will get her something with a meaning.

My daughter will be one on Feb. 1st. My husband and I have a toy with stackable, moveable, light up, music playing gears. She loves the lights and music and has started stacking things. When asked by family and friends, we ask for 24 month/2T clothes. With Christmas not that long ago, Dilana is still experiencing new toys.
My dad, a retired elementary teacher told us what he plans to do .... every year, the American Library Association announces the Caldecott Award Winner. It's given the the illustrator of the year's best picture book. My dad plans to get Dilana that book every year for her birthday. Wish I would have thought of that! i'm a school librarian!

well i don't think a big party is necessary either, but i do prefer a theme... i like the idea of all the colors the sesame street "elmo" theme brings and my son loves elmo so i think that he'll love that part of it. as far as bounce houses and things like that, i think that that can wait... after all, you don't want everyone else's kids enjoying it more than the birthday boy!! So just family and close friends will be coming and thats it... as far as food goes, we're pulling out the grill and that'll be that.. but themes bring a variety to the area... something they aren't exposed to on the everyday basis.

My son will be 1 on Feb.4th, and I'm only getting him mostly clothes. With Christmas he got to much stuff (most he don't play with!) But he needs clothes. I am going to get him a ride train thing ( I'm not sure what there called) He don't care about how many presents he has like my 2 older ones, so simple is best, and I think it;s a little too much when people throw big parties for a 1 year old, honestly the party is more for the parent, simple is key, you don't want to over stimulate the them!

My son turns 1 on Feb 22 and i;m thinking about doing a little elmo party for him b/c he loves elmo! i have found all the invitations and party decorations and everything to come up to $118.00 for a set of 16 children. it comes with everything you need to decorate and eat on. the only thing you need after that is food. as far as gifts i think im going to get him that vtech laptop everyone's talking about b/c he's always trying to mess with ours!

My daughter turns one in feb also and since she got so many presents for christmas (most she didn't show any interest in at all!!) we are just going to rewrap some of those and spend our money on a big birthday party for her. We bought her one big present, a little ride and push mickey mouse train that makes all kinds of noises but I know it's going to be like christmas where she literally got 30 presents from each grandparent and we had to just give her a break and let her go to sleep and she had know idea what she even got. I would rather her get one good gift and a great party from us and let her get a bunch of other "stuff" from every one else than spend lots of money on things just to get her something. For some reason every time Mickey Mouse Clubhouse comes on she starts clapping and smiling and laughing so it was a no brainer that that was the kind of party we had to give her. I just finished ordering most of the decorations and invitations and the outfit she is going to wear!!! I am more excited about the party than the presents!!!

Geat ideas Donna!! I too am going small....I'm going to use his need for a new bath setup! He will get a mat and a faucet cover (always wondered about these and now I know why they are made!) and a new bath toy. I like the idea of getting something for me too...I am thinking about bronzing the shoes he wears now that he is starting to walk. We still have a my husbands bronzed shoes and I always loved the idea.

I'm in the same boat, it's my daughter's first birthday in 6 weeks. It'll be the same as christmas.....she'll get so spoiled by everyone else you really don't have to go overboard. We had to split opening the presents on christmas day....some in the morning and some in the afternoon because she just got bored. We're going to get her one big kind of present, a smart-trike. It's suitable from about 10 months. It's a trike with pedals, parent handle so we can steer, but has a harness to tie her in until she is big enough to go on herself. I'll pobably get some sort of keepsake to commemorate her first birthday, maybe a canvas for her wall or something. I hope this helps, and 4 weeks will fly by if it's anything like this first year has been! xx
