I dont brush my son's teeth yet, and I wouldnt advice any mom yet. I use cotton bud with a mild tooth paste. it works very well and is painless for the kid as d gums wont be hurt.

Put me down for when they first get teeth too. Christiano goes running to the bathroom when ever I had that way and if I when I start brushing my teeth he stands on his sister's potty chair and holds his mouth open, brush mine, brush mine he's saying. now if he'll keep that enthusiasm that would be awesome. My oldest 2 hate to brush, my 3 year old still loves it.

right when they get teeth, if not earlier....start using a clean damp washcloth on your finger, or get on e of those little rubber finger brushes don't even need toothpaste

As soon as they start coming in. They love the feeling of the finger brushes on teeth that are sprouting through, but I wouldn't advise using the finger brush for too long though, it really sucks when they bite your finger trying to get more relief from the teething pain. My daughter used to love getting her teeth brushed and now she screams bloody murder when I try because she wants to do it herself lol.

until a baby cuts her teeth there is no real need to brush altho it does get them used to having a brush in their mouth!

prety much as soon as possible. The earlier they get used to the invasion in their mouth the better. WE started brushing his teeth really early and now it's the only thing he'll let in his mouth! If I try and check f he's teething he screams and tried to bite me lol.

i've brushed my son's gums since he was about 3 months old. He has 10 teeth now and I try to brush twice a day. He loves it! I hold up a mirror and let him watch while I do it so that he gets the affect of what is happening.

I went to the dentist to ask about brushing too, and she told me since she has teeth go ahead and use a soft brush, and a tiny bit of toothpaste and rinse. My daughter seems to like it, so far. But before that I have used a wash cloth. My daughter is 14 and 1/2 months.

As soon as they get teeth, not only does it clean them it relieves some of the itching gums they have. I bought a toothbrush set from the chemist, which has 4 different brushes in it depending on the age and how many teeth they have. You're not meant to use toothpaste until about 18 months (not even the baby one) as they need to be able to spit it out, they don't normally do that till around 18 months. Hope it helps!

For Matthews 1st Birthday he received a tooth brush and toothpaste set for toddlers from his Big-Sister (19yrs). So we started him then. I think it is made by OralB. It has a teddy bear on the front of the box. It is found at ant Walmart with the toothbrushes. I had also found it in the baby department. I think you can also get iot at Babies R Us.

I was using the toddler training toothpaste, but when my son went for his 12 month vaccines, they did a teeth servey, and i ticked the box for that toothpaste, then i get a letter through the post saying, my son is in danger of cavities and that i should be using a toothpaste containing flouride and water and the toddler stuff isn't enough to get rid of the plague etc.. So i started using kids colgate.

As soon as he/she gets teeth. I started Elijah's when he got his first 2 teeth, with a finger brush. He has 9 teeth now, and i use a toothbrush and the kids colgate toothpaste. It is very important.

I don't remember exactly ... we sign with our daughter and she would use the sign for brush teeth when she saw me doing it. That was when i bought her a tooth brush and we just used water. Within the last couple of weeks I started using Toms of Maine Natural tooth paste , just a dab. Our ped. was satisfied at her 12 month appointment that we were only using the water. I've heard when the baby has their first four on bottom and four on top. Like many things, I go with my gut. Friends make suggestions, I read lots, so I do what I feel in my gut is right for my baby. When I'm not sure I talk with the peds. and then make a decision.

I start as sooon as they get teeth. !!!!!!!!!!!! But only use a very small amount of tooth paste.... I even begin to brush their gums... All tha stuff they begin to eat when they get just ONE tooth is enough to make 5 cavities if not brushed away-- ewww

I started brushing my son's gums when he was about 6 months old with a finger brush and water. I then swapped to a child toothpaste when he started getting his teeth in. My son is 14 months old now, and I still finger brush him every night, but then put a little toothspaste on his toothbrush so that he can "brush" his own teeth and then I give him his flouride.

We started wiping her gums from day one. We incorperated teeth brushing into her routine. In the mornings change diaper, wash face, brush teeth change into clothes. Afternoon eat lunch, brush teeth and take nap. (Still working on the nap part) In the evenings give shower, (yes , shower she love the rain on her) brush teeth in the shower and then into pjs. We tried reading to her but won't sit still long enough. We have her brush her own teeth then we go back over it.

From what I understand it is not about a certain age. It is different 4 different babies. I was told that U should start cleaning their gums as soon as they start teething even B4 NE teeth actually emerge cuz even B4 they actually get teeth they can still get gingivitis so U should just use a wet washcloth 2 clean the inside of there moutht w/. Then U can continue 2 do that 4 a little while after the teeth start 2 emerge but at about a year old, sometimes sooner, U might want 2 invest in a toothbrush, and at first U can just wet the toothbrush 2 clean their teeth w/ and then eventually U can finally try it w/ some training toothpaste and go from there.

I was told that as soon as they get teeth or as soon as you start seeing them. When my daughter was starting to pop them, i would just get a gum soother and rub her gums and she loved it. But when since she has had about 4 teeth, i have been brushing them, when i can remember, usually when I give her a bath. She is starting to remind me at times. But I have already taken her to the dentist and they said pretty much after every meal so you can get the milk and food out of their teeth.

I simply used a baby toothbrush and baby toothpaste with my girls until the reached the age of 1year and had roughly 8 teeth, I then graduated them up to toddler training toothpaste

As soon as your little one has teeth, thats when you should start. we brush my sons teeth every night after his bath. He loves it and he actually loves to floss, not really super necessary at this age because their teeth is usually pretty spaces but he wants us to he loves it. I think he just like the taste of the floss. I am told they should see a dentist as soon as they have teeth also but i disagree I think maybe when they have enough teeth or maybe when they are two. when they are that little you dont take them to the dentist because they necessarily need it, its more for them to get use to seeing the dentist.

I use the first year baby toothbrush to clean his teeth. He has 4 on top front, and 3 on bottom front, and 2 molars at the back. When he is in bathtub, I usually give him the brush, and hold a small mixing bowl of clean cold water (for rinse). He really loves to brush his teeth. He brush, dip the brush in the water, then brush again. Really cute.

I "brushed" his gums from day one...with a plastic sleeve with nubbys that goes on your finger. As soon as he got a couple teeth and could bite, REALLY HARD, I switched to a brush.

I asked my dentist and he said to use a wash cloth or one of those finger brushes twice a day until baby has four teeth on top and bottom then start using the toothbrush. My daughter has 6 on top and 2 on bottom and I still use the finger brush on her, but she likes to hold her toothbrush and chew on it. I think it makes her feel like a big kid! If you aren't sure ask your pediatrician or dentist, they are there to help you!
