Cough/Cold Remedies?

My 10 month old has had a cold for over a week now. His nose has been running non-stop. I thought it was getting a little better, but yesterday he started coughing. It just seems to be getting worse. Are there any holistic remedies that would help?

Saline drops into the nose a couple of times a day, nasal aspirator to get rid of excess snot, a humidifer for his room at night, and you can turn the shower on really hot and sit in the bathroom with him when it gets really steamy to help as well.

Lots of saline, steam, vaporub, and try elevating the head of his mattress if that is feasible (my boy moves around all night). Are you nursing? If you are try to nurse as much as possible because not only will he be getting fluid, but also antibodies. Plus, the motion and position of nursing will help his ears drain if they are getting clogged too. No need to add an ear infection to his list of ailments. I hope he feels better soon.

there is a babyloof cream with camphor from pharmacy or drugstore, that I applied on chest and back area. It helped tons.

Make sure your baby gets plenty of fluid. My daughter is in the middle of the flu. Tried to give her pedialite but she wouldn't take it (don't blame her that stuff is nasty) I ended up getting the unflavored kind and mixed it with her Juice. That and a steamy bathroom seems to really help. I also got something from Vicks that goes on the nightstand and has a little Pad in it that warms up. It helps like the vapo rub but without the mess.

I tried all of those things and got little relief for my daughter, thankfully her dr prescribed some baby cold medicine and she got some relief. If she is getting a tooth and taking Tylenol I use the other remedies instead of giving her the two meds!

You can find it at target, walmart, or babies r us. I got mine at babies r us they seem to have a larger selection.

I've also done the steamed shower method. My husband and I would take turns so we could get it nice and steamy. I also used "little noses" saline drops.
