Because diapers are so expensive but our children always soaked their diapers at night what we did was buy the Huggies night time diapers only for bed time and then, since we changed them more often during the day, we would buy the cheaper diapers that wouldn't hold as much. It was perfect because our son had sensitive skin and Huggies didn't cause him any issues but the diapers we bought for day time were Wal-Mart's brand that were die and perfume free for babies with sensitive skin. This is just an idea, it worked great for us. You might have to try trial and error. It might also be that it's not the diapers at all but the wipes. We also found out that we could not use wipes at all, not even the hypoallergenic ones. What we did (which also saved us money) was use baby washcloths. When they were dirty we would go in the bathroom (which was right across the hall from their room and the changing table) and get a wash cloth wet and warm (no need for a wipe warmer here, lol) and take them and change them and then we would put the wash cloth in a small tub in the laundry room. The tub had water with a little bit of laundry detergent in it. Because I do a load of laundry every day anyway, I would just throw them in with the load and since we had the laundry detergent in the tub the laundry room didn't smell like dirty diapers. When you don't have very much money you find all kinds of ways to scrimp and save which in our case also helped our youngest son who had sensitive skin. : - ) (Oh and by the way, two of my kids were over 9 pounds when they were born and one was just under, they all grew very quickly too and we did this from the time they were born until they were potty trained.)

try Luvs, the only thing that works for my son, hes 4 months 16lbs 4oz and he pees right thru pampers and it use to be all over him at night but he has yet to pee thru Luvs!!

Definately Huggies, my 3rd daughter is 9 1/2 weeks old and i still haven't needed to use nappy cream at all and wipes unless its poos.

my little one is 13lbs and 24inch and we use pampers swaddlers they are the best and at night it holds really well!!

my son is 11 weeks... 15pounds and 25 inches... i SWEAR by luvs.. and huggies... i think they have better leak protection.... my som pees ALOT so thats important to me! hope this helps

i have used both huggies and pampers and i agree with what alison says about pullin the edges out... they r both just as good i havent had one leak yet...!!! touch wood!! i have found them both very good...

My son is a side sleeper as well and what works for us is a prefold with a terry cloth soaker added for extra absorption in a bummis super whisper wrap.

I have always like Huggies diapers. Tried all the brands with my first daughter and found Huggies the best fit for her. You likely just need to keep trying different brands til you find something that works for your son. I found Pampers too thin.

I use Huggies and size 3, the big box from Sams club. they come up high, he does not have any red marks around his legs or tummy. And never had a leak.

We use pampers swaddlers size 1-2 in the big box from Sam's. We haven't used any other diaper with this one, and have not had one leak. With my first 2, I used Luv's, and loved them and only had an occasional leak. And yes, where he points can cause leaks! My first son had leaks no matter what kind of diaper we used until my mom told me to point it down!! lol

We use Kirkland brand from Costco and I've never had a problem. You might want to give them a try. My husband's boss gave us pampers when our son was born and we had a lot of leakage problems, too. That's my suggestions....just make sure he's poniting down before you tape the diaper shut!!

My baby is 13 pounds and 23 inches. She has been wearing size 2 pampers for awhile. When the diaper is on the baby try pulling the elastic-y part where the leg hole is out a bit. I just run my finger my finger through to pull it out. (does that make sense?) I have to do that each time I put Ellie's diapers on. She sleeps on her sides too. She leaks if I don't do that. I try to pull the diaper up as high as I can onto her stomach. I also have found that huggies work pretty good, but they feel more scratchy.

I am now doing the Pampers Sensitive Size 2 at night. He seemed to grow into them overnight. I also never thought about his penis but pointing it down has helped so thanks. We're going to do bumgenius during the day while at home and when poos become solid (and if they work well) we will transition them to night.

We do an infant size prefold folded down a bit in the front, a terry cloth doubler, and a bummis super whisper wrap on top.

I use huggies. My little guy is 10 lbs, and is in the size 1-2. I think they are a new size, I got a giant box at Walmart. They seem to be really absorbant. Also, I find that if I haven't aimed his penis down, that can cause leaking, but where it's pointin gseems to make a big difference.

I used to swear by all the name brand diapers ( pampers, Huggies) But I really like Teddy choice ( 5 dollars cheeper too) I am in Nova Scotia and we buy them at Superstore, No Frills, I am not sure where you would purchase them in the States ( if that is where you from) Good luck

I use happy heiny and Hautes pocket nappies. I fold the smaller insert in half at the front to create more absorbtion where little boys need it and also means less bulk between the legs when they are little too. They are both one-sized so fit all the way from newborn to potty training. they also have built in micro fleece liners to keep their little bottom dry.

My favourites tho are the pop-in nappy by Close. They have a softer shell double leg gussets so fantastic for keeping messes in, the soaker and booster are made from bamboo which are very absorbent (you can also buy a night booster for them to increase capacity for overnight) and they are also one-sized. I also like to buy some microfleece liners to use with these, especially for overnight to keep bottom dry.

I also love cloth wipes as you only need to use warm water so don't have to put any chemicals on babies bottom like with disposable wipes.
