Hello. I am trying to give my little guy table foods. He is not really gaining any weight either so he is now on PediaSure. But I am not certain what table foods he can eat. I also have a 7 yr old so I have to keep her in mind when planning the menu, as well as my 4 yr old sister. I don't want them to feel like they r eating "baby food" but I don't want to give him gas or constipate him. He is good with veggies and beans, but then again, those are not options in my house. I am giving him the toddler bowls/plates but they all seem to be the same thing. What have you guys tried???

You can give him anything you are eating. If you are worried about choking, then cut everything up. My son eats whatever my girls, husband and I eat. I never make anything special for him.

I was in your shoes a little over a month ago, just before my girls turn a year and I started transitioning them to table foods. I first started off giving them the Graduates stars and bars, etc, but then I was confused as to what to give them for dinner and lunch. I began buying whole sweet potatoes, baking them and cuting it into chunks for them to eat. I also found that pasta wasa hit. I give them muti-grain or whole wheat pasta (to ease any constipation) and add a dabble of plain veggie pasta sauce and my girls love it!! I usally do the spiral rotini pasta or the linguini (cut up).

I am a bit of health nut when they are concerned. Not too much so but if I can cut back on the extra sugar, salt, pesticides, etc then I am a happy camper.

Here are some other idea's: yogurt, most cooked veggies, waffles, toast, diced fruit, beans, cereal (Kix, Cheerios, etc.) different flavored apple sauce cups, oatmeal, turkey bacon (not too crispy), eggs (srambled or boiled).

You can't go wrong with the pasta and sauce AND your older children can eat it too!!
To keep me from

My son just turned one on the 2nd and he just started in the last two weeks to eat some of the foods we eat. He will eata few french fries now, pretzel sticks and the cereal puffs, but won't eat other soft foods other then the actual baby food. He doesn't seem to like the different food textures and will some times gag. But just keep trying him with different foods and see what he will eat. Just do it gradually. It's frustrating i know but they will catch on sooner or later. Good Luck!
