How do you feel about giving multi-vitamins to toddlers???

So after telling my doctor how I was worried my 16 month old wasn't getting the nutrients he needs because he's a picky eater, he suggested giving him a multi-vitamin. Now, I'm usually against supplements and multi-vitamins because I think they are safer and better coming directly from the food itself, but with my son not eating all the "right foods" should I take my doctors advice? I found a vitamin that has all the green vegetables in it. I'm thinking of giving it to him. Any thoughts?

Our daughter gets a multi and it's no problem giving it to her! She always asks for more. I followed the lable and because she is 17 months old she gets 1/2 once a day. We use the Flintstones generic. i have a friend who is a pharmasist and said they are all the same so why not save some money.

Thanks everyone! Glad I read this!! Vitamins are good! Health food store is the way to go! I remember the Flintstones Vitamins and if there still around after 15 years then I would think they would be good?!
Cheers

flintstone vitamins are the way to go get the ones that have choline for brain development also. i have been giving my girls flintstones since they were a year and a half cause they are very picky eaters too. it is a real benefit for kids, you should try it.

I also have a very picky eater and the Doc suggested the same thing. I crush up a Flintstones Vitamin and mix it in her yogurt.

My doc said whatever her body doesn't need, she'll poop out :)

I personally think that vitamins are great!! our food is lacking in the minerals and vitamins it used to contain so why not help our little people be the healthiest and best they can be with a bit of help with a multi vitamin Goodluck ;)

We go to the health food store and get all natural vitamins. Read the lables. I believe you are better off giving them a good vitamin and making sure they get all the needed nutrition. Our kids get a multi-vitamin, fish oil, and garlic everyday. They also eat very healthy with little to no junk food.

Not sure. I'm kinda on the fence like you. We have prescription multivitamin drops from the dr but we hardly use them. Sometimes I think I should be...what if shes low on something and I don't know? Other times I think if I'm worried I should just feed her a more balanced diet. I'm one of those...put as little extra junk in your body as possible kinda people. LOL I hardly will even take tylenol myself...if I have a headache I probably need some food or rest. LOL I'm sure either way you choose he'll be fine.

I love Flinstone vitamins and take them myself. I just gave my son a half of one for the first time today. I figure that they can't hurt so why not try to make him healthier if they do work. You can always try and change your mind later.
Best wishes!
