Hi
My daughter has excema as well, I took her to the doctor, she told me to get glycerin and glycol base? I think? (it's a white cream anyways) if you go to the pharmasisct they should know what you are talking
about, basically you just mix the glycerin in and put it on after every bath, it seemed to help for my daughter. Good luck.

we use hydrocortisone cream and diprobath in his bath (both prescribed). Dr also told us to only bath him twice a week.
Some other stuff that people swear by for excema doesn't work for us - aqueous cream, E45, baby lotion (even none scented) all made it worse.

Guess it's a question of trial and error to find out what works.

My son has had it since he was 4 months...he's now 14 months and it hasn't gone away. We've tried everything, but what seems to help at least is moisturising him twice a day after dabbing his skin with a warm, wet towel. That locks in the moisture. Plus we've started using a non steroidal cream called Atopiclair that soothes him a bit. Other than that, we're at our wits ends

My son has had tHE WORST egzema ever...This is what I have been doing to make his skin better...I use free and clear laundry detergent, DOVE body wash during baths and Ecerine calming itch relief 3 times a day and the doctor also prescribed me Triamcinolone Acetonide cream 0.1% that we use twice a day on the really dry itchy spots he has on his legs...

My little man has it so the dr prescribed Fougera Hydrocortisone Lotion usp 1%, we only keep him in the bath long enought to bath him, pat him dry, then put the lotion on. We also put his clothes back to Dreft (or Generic), but then we found out that it is either poleseter or the flame retarted that is causing it, so you might want to see if that is causing it. good luck it is not fun to watch your little one iches and you really cant help him. Oh and we also used just enough of avvenno (adult) oatmeal bath to cloud his water in every bath and it seem to work has not had a break out for about 4 months and he is now 1 year and almost 1 month.

We use vanicream on my 14 month old son. Vanicream is a lotion that is sold over the counter. I wouldn't use aquafor. We used that for a couple months and it made his skin worse. It holds in the heat. Plus, it made him extremely uncomfortable. It stuck to his clothes and made it hard for him to sleep at night. We use steriod creams only when the eczema gets really bad in certain spots, like the back of his legs, creases in his arms, and sometimes on his stomach. He also gets rashy around his mouth from his binkie. The doctor said his saliva is like acid on his skin. Still trying to figure out how to take away the binkie. The vanicream has done wonders for keeping the eczema under control. We give him a bath every night and use dove unscented too. I also make sure his nails are cut very short. I was wondering about suntan lotion/sun screen. I'm going to ask his pediatrician and allergist about that next month. I agree with the comment about Aveeno. We used the Aveeno oatmeal bath and it made his skin very very rashy. Also make sure he doesn't get too warm. Every time my son gets too warm, his eczema starts coming out. This summer should be interesting. Thank goodness we have a pool. The doctor said the pool water is actually good for his skin. I bought a sandbox for him and I'm curious if the sand will irritate his skin. Don't know if there is a special kind of sand to buy for kids with eczema.

Mild mild mild!!!! Unscented everything! Don't let him stay in a hot or warm bath for long, 15 minutes max. No bubble baths, they bubbles will break down his skin and make it worse. Keep his fingernails short if you see him scratching and try no to let him scratch even if his nails are short. I've been dealing with excema for my entire life and my 14 month old, Emma has it. Mildly thank goodness! Watch out for sunscreens too they really broke Emma out and i still havent found one that doesnt. It could be just a family reaction but Aveeno is the WORST out of all the products claiming to help. We use Dove unscented and it does wonders for both my daughter and i. You also might think about changing to a laundry soap like ALL Free and Clear. Something really mild. Hope this helps!!!1

My son has mild excema and we use hydrocortizone 1%, prescribed by his Dr. when he has a breakout. For bad cases I would do as Shanna suggested and have your friend stay away from harsh soaps and lotions, and also not to bathe often.....water most days should be fine.

aquafor, hydrocortizone but i would ask her dr. first. Also for us lately curel has worked. i would also stay away from perfume alcohol in ingredients.

it is for my best friend her son is covered pretty much head to toe. She changed the bath soap she was using to goats milk one and that is not working.
