Hi everyone,

Welcome to the February 2009 Babies community, where we chat about our February 2009 children and whatever else is on our minds!

To get things started, I thought it would be nice if we all introduced ourselves in this thread, which will be pinned to the community home page. Whether you're a Circle of Moms veteran or you're new to the site, let us know who you are, what you’re interested in, and what your lovely February 2009 child is up to right now, developmentally speaking!

I'm Stephanie, my son is Tyler, born Feb 26th, 2009. He was diagnosed with Leukemia at 4 months old, we spent 6 months in the hospital and he'll be on chemo until June 2011. Sounds like a long ways off! We almost lost him once and it's been a very long road, but he's a fighter! He was a big baby, born "naturally" at 10lbs 2oz, 21in. He was 17lbs at diagnosis at 4 months and he's now 20lbs at 13 months. We struggle with his eating a lot. He refuses solids because of all the meds we have to shove into him. He's nursing only. He has a big personality for a little guy and continues to stay pretty happy, despite everything. His website is www.caringbridge.org/visit/tylerburdick

Hi, I'm Lindsey, my son is now 13 mo. and he's walking and has four teeth now. He started to crawl when he was 6 mo. and pulled himself up by the fernature at 9mo. I nursed him until he was 6mo. and then started him on cereal and he loved that a lot. It took a while before he liked any vegtables. He still doesn't care much for meats but we are trying to get him to like it. I have Carter and his birthday was feb.21 2009 and Noah is Carter's older brother and he's 6 yrs and he was also born in february.

I'm currently going to school full-time for psychology and criminal justice. Right now I'm just enjoying my time with my son and going to school. Can't wait for summer so we can get outside and have some fun! :)

My name is Jodie and my son Archie was born on the 5th of feb, I also have 2 older sons, Zack who is 11 and Cole is 7. It is great watching all my boys interact together, I love watching them. Archie is a typical boy who loves outdoors, anything that resembles and boy and feeding the ducks. I am a stay at home mum at the moment as my maternity leave does not finish until December. I love being home for my boys and I am dreading going back to work, even if it is only 2 days a week.

Any other army wives can relate to that! I currently quit my full time job when my son turned 12 months, to stay at home with him and am training to become a Medical Technician in the Canadian Forces in 2011. I run a home daycare in the morning, and do nightschool courses at night.

Any moms at CFB Petawawa or around these areas, drop me a message! With the spring weather coming back we would love to get out and play!

Hi there, I'm Baylee, and my daughter is Mina. She was born February 15, 2009, via emergency c-section (after 25 hours of labor, I never dilated more than 7 cm.), weighing 8 lbs, 8.2 oz. Other than the c-section, the pregnancy was really easy, and that theme has continued since she's been born.

As for Mina, she's been walking for nearly 4 months, no real words yet, but she does "talk" and sing constantly, and she can't point out her belly button, hair, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, toes, and feet when asked. Right now, she has 8 teeth (four front teeth on top and bottom), and as of last night, it looks like she's getting some molars soon.

Hello Ladies, I'm Tonya, I have a daughter Bailey Nichole. She was born February 24, 2009 8lb. 12.9oz. I had a lot of difficulties with her birth, it was a C-section and I had something called a "Limp Uterus" I bled out and lost 6 pints of blood. I didn't get to see my daughter for the first day and a half. But the wait was worth it. She is a year old and a total handful. She is not much of a picky eater, she loves to try new things. I love being with my little girl and every day is not only a new learning experience for her, it is for me also.

Hi all,

My name is Heather, and my daughter just turned 1 on February 20th. I'm a single Mom, and she is my first. So far its been absolutely wonderful! A bit awkward at times, lol, but the absolute, best, perfect thing I could have ever--strike that--MORE than I could've ever even imagined.

Sappy stuff aside and now to business. I was induced on my due date and do believe in Meds, so I did take the Nubain and also the epidural. Things went fast! And perfect! I said RIGHT after delivery, "Oh, I'll do this again." LoL

And as far as Miss Hannah's status. Shes crawling all over, pulling herself up to standing and walking along furniture, but has aboslutely no interest in taking that 1st step away, not even with my guidance.

She also has NO interest in switching to a sippy cup. She almost "screams" and throws it. The kid has got such a temper! And tantrums already!

Her Pediatrician has told me at about ever check up that Hannah developmentally is about 1-1/2 months behind..... :-(

But, shes learning.... babbling tons, says simple words, knows where her "ears" are :-) and can scoot herself down gently from the couch.....

Shes had her 4 front teeth for quite some time, I've been expecting her 3rd set for awhile, too, since she shows all the wonderful signs.

She'd rather you hold the bottle for her, but when laid on the floor and given it, she does fine. She has no interest really in feeding herself anything as far as foot, especially "wet" or juicy things, but will gobble it down if fed to her---but she loves to feed herself the yogurt and regular puffs.....

Whats your input?

Hi, I'm Brenda, my daughter Rachel turned 1 on Feb 15th. She has been walking for almost 2 months and this morning I accidently left the gate open and she went all the way up the stairs before I could catch her. She was laughing and trying to make it to her bedroom before I got her. She loves chasing her big brother around the house and pulling his hair (he is 3 1/2). Besides Ronnie she also has a sister Jackie who just turned 13 and an older brother Alex who will be 16 in 2 weeks. I am still breastfeeding, but trying to wean. She loves her sippy cup, but has never taken a bottle or pacifier. She waves hello and bye bye and likes to dance and clap her hands.

Hi, I'm Tina, and my daughter Jasmyn just turned 1 yr old on the 26th. We had a wonderful party with all our family and friends on the 27th. She is standing and cruises all over the place, she also took 2 steps by herself yesterday. All I can say is I totally love being a mom, and can't wait to experience everything with her, also can't believe how fast this year has gone. She eats pretty much everything that we do, and is almost off the bottle and formula (yea!) My doctor told us we can start her on regular milk after 1 yr.

Yes friend, thanks for your reply. My son too is trying to walk himself and he is more excited when he keeps a step ahead... He claps his hands, when he is in excited mood... He waves hand to the objects if he wants them... If he is upset he will just keep his face down or show his back towards us..... Its really funny to watch over his activities, which is extremely different from my elder one.

He is walking (since he was about 9 months old) and has started saying bye bye when me or my fiancee say bye to him when we are leaving. He also loves to climb on chairs. We have lately been taking him to a place where they have very padded floor and very nice playground also padded and he just loves that place. He plays somewhat well with others unless it is his toy and then he takes it from them. (We are teaching him to play well with others but it takes a while.) He weights 23 lb. and 25 inches. He loves toys that make a lot of noise. He eats what we eat and if he don't get to feed himself he gets upset and cries. He gets 3 glasses of whole milk and juices threw a straw cup. He is my first one, and we are ready for another one but when the time actually comes we all will be very excited.

Hi, I'm Rachel. It has been so fun to read and see the variations of all these feb babies! I am the proud mommy of Jacob, who will be 1 on the 26th. Jakie is awesome-he's pretty big, 30" about 22# or so. 7 teeth, eats solid food at all his meals with some formula or water. He had the mommy juice until 10mos, but it was hard to keep up with his growth and demands and work! Haven't tried cow's milk yet, hope that goes ok, it would be nice to finish with formula. Jacob is walking, but likes to crawl when he wants to go fast. He's trying to climb up on stuff-scary! He says a few words but I'm not 100% sure what they all mean, it seems like one word can mean multiple things. He probably thinks I'm a dope for not getting it. He gets along well with our dogs, but the cat is scared of him! Jacob has reminded me of the joy of discovery and imagination, I've been forced to slow down and realize that efficiency is not the be all and end all and some things just don't need to get done! The amazing thing is that despite the extra demands of parenthood, I feel LESS stressed than before he came along and have a renewed sense of joy. I also have a husband in the military, deploying for Afghanistan, but not till after the 1st birthday!

Hello, my name is Jennie and I just joined the group. I am the proud mommy of 3 kids...Michael, who is 12; Rianna, who is 8; and Isaac (we call him "Zac"), who turns 1 on Feb. 9th. Zac is crawling like mad & likes to "cruise the furniture" so he's close to walking but not quite there yet. He still takes the "mommy juice" but from a bottle (he was weaned to a bottle when he was 6 weeks old & I went back to work, I've been pumping but I'm starting to "wind that down") and he has a very healthy appetite too!

He weighed 9 pounds 5 ounces and was 21 inches at birth, and now he is almost 23 pounds and 31.25 inches, so he's a nice big boy! He has 6 teeth, but I'm pretty sure #7 and #8 are coming soon. He always says "Mama" and "Dada", but he also says "Nana" (for his favorite food, bananas), "Ugg" (when he wants a hug), and "Up" (when he wants out of his crib).

I agree with a lot of the other moms when I say that I can't believe he's almost 1 and wonder where the time went! Zac is a good boy and I love seeing him discover new things about himself and the world around him!
