My 17 month old is awake all night!! Any ideas

My 17 month old is in a big bed now. When she was in her cot she would wake up crying all the time and I had to pick her up and rock her etc to get her back to sleep and also after every sleep day and night she would just scream as soon as she woke up. No playing, talking to herself etc so this is why the big bed! My oldest who is 3.5 also was in a big bed at the same age. My probelm is she gets up 6 or 7 times a night and I just have to lay her back down and shes fine but just wantng any advice or help to get her to stay there all night! She is happier in a big bed and I think going to back to the cot wold be a mistake. Any help would be great!!

Yes she does have a light and I sit n her bed and read a book and sing a song then sit on my eldest daughters bed and wait for my young one to fall asleep. She doesnt cry, just gets up alot lol

Do you have a night time routine like reading? If not I would try and find one. I agree with the above mentioned night light idea if she dosnt have one.
Do you just lay her down and let her cry it out?
If so I would resign to the conclusion that your gonna have sleepless nights regardless so you might want to try first by sitting next to her bed with one arm near or on her until she falls asleep. After several days of that I would get a chair and set it near her without your arm on her.....then move the door and so on.

I have a 3 and a hlaf year old too and she has just learnt to stay in her own bed at night. Yeh the 2 girls share a room but Iv also just found out my youngest has a bad ear infection so when that clears hopefully she gives me some rest! Thanks for you post

Yes I think your right I will have to teach her to stay in her bed. She has a light and music in her room. Yes when she was younger the more she slept in the day the more she slept at night lol weird ah! Thanks so much for you post :)

My small man is still in our bed! We've never had any crying at night and I've never had to get up! My 7 year old has been in her own bed since she was 3....so I'm sure he will move out too at some point.

Did you consider putting the 2 kids in the same room? maybe she's just lonely or afraid of the dark or being alone?

oh you poor thing :( I had this problem with my son and it ended up being a learned behaivour that I broke with control crying I also put a night light in his room and lullabies playing softly all night! is your daughter getting too much sleep during the day maybe or not enough I know with my son the more he sleeps during the day the more he sleeps at night go figure lol hope everything works out very soon for your sanity sake :)
