Does anyone know if they make bigger rear facing car seats? I switched a couple months ago. He is 27 pounds and a little over a year and he cries everytime we are in the car because of his car seat. I even tested my theory by putting him back in the rear facing car seat and he loved it. Any suggestions?

I have a Graco MyRide 65, you can rear face up to 40lbs and then it goes into a forward facing then booster seat, and it holds up the 65lbs. So it's a little expensive but worth the money since you wont have to buy any other seat. Also depends on your car. There are plenty of carseats out there with 35-40lb weight limits. I've also heard alot of good things about the TrueFit and anything by britax (but they're VERY expensive)

I just bought the Graco MyRide 65. My little guy loves it. He is only 21 pounds at a year and I would not think about having him forward facing yet. Maybe when he is two but not before. It is way safer for babies to be rear facing as long as possible. :-)

My son Owen was the same way when I switched him. He realized that he couldn't get kicked back to get comfy to sleep. But once he realized he could see EVERYTHING he liked it. They make carseats though that are both. He has an Alpha Omega Elite. It reclines so that you CAN use it as a rear facing and a forward facing.

What kind of seat do you have? If it's not one that can rear face, the Graco MyRide 65 is a great seat for extended rear facing. It will rear face to 40 pounds! My 2 -almost 3- year old is still in rear facing in that seat and absolutely loves it.

My son was happy for all of 5 minutes when he got into his car seat that faces forward... I found that he was use to having the seat to play with as he would throw his toys to it and still be able to get to them... now he throws them and they are gone till we are stopped. A few days ago i tried out putting a video in for him to watch in the car while i drive... the van i have was a gift and it has a VHS player which it is hard to find those now. But any ways i found that when i gave him two to three toys, put a basket for the toys to fall into and the movie in that he does not fuss as much... it is a matter of him staying busy while being straped down and not allowed to move. i point to the screen when he starts to get fuss and it is nice because he is learning that he can see me but we have to be safe in the car and he can still have fun with the movies.

Do you have a mirror that sings and lights up? I had it facing her when she was rear facing so that she could see herself and see the lights and also so that i could see her and now since she is forward facing I still use it. It is a Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium mirror and they also have Fisher Price Rainforest Adventures mirror. Hope that this helps!=) It is about 20.00 I have use it with both kids

Graco My ride 65 rear faces to 40 lbs. I think there is a sunshine kids seat that rear faces to 45. Rear facing is so much safer for everyone, but especially babies and toddlers and car seat manufacturers are meeting the demand for rear facing seats with higher weight limits. There is even a snugride 35 now!

What kind of seat do you have? My seats rear face till 35lbs, the other two till 40lbs. If you can't find your manual, go on their website and see what the specs are.
There are tons that rear face till 35-40lbs. Tell me your price range and I can let you know some good ones. Look up the Trufit, great price and will rear face till 35lbs. Super cushy too!

Hmm, the carseat I have is one that is rear facing first, then you turn it around when they're big enough. If his shoulders are at or below the highest shoulder strap hole, you can still use what you have. It is much safer to be backwards and the longer the better.
