Hunny dont worry.. my little girl will be 2yrs. old on Aug. 13 and she weighs 20lbs. and 30 1/2 inches tall..

i think you should not be worrying about it as long as she is healthy and eating.my son is same way.pedia told me that he is underweight for his height.the kid eat but that just his body structure.though i gave him enfagrow to bulk him up little bit , seems to work .

my daughter was only 20.5 lbs at her 15 month apt. He told us she was between 15 - 25 percentile on height and weight. She's just petite. She has pretty much stayed in the same range for all of her measurings so he said it was normal. When it should be a concern is if your child had been running in a higher percentile like 75 or so, and suddenly drops to 15 or 20. As long as they are eating well, and is growing at a normal rate there is no cause for concern. :)

My son is 16 months tomorrow and 2 weeks ago he had his 15 mo. check up and he is just shy of 22 pounds and is 31 inch. We just got his Big car seat. And he can pack the food away. He eats more than the WIC recommendations. So I guess I wish I could burn calories like he does. The ped said nothing of it. So I'm guessing if our little ones seem to be eating just fine then we don't need to stress so much about how much they weigh. It took me a bit to be ok with it though.

all i know is my Desi is "normal weight"says the Ped. and size they say.lol And she's 22 lbs and 30" and looks healthy, but eats very little but in spurts, it's wierd the Ped. said no worrys she'll eat when she's hungry, but its scary.SO sounds like they are both Normal,Thank God!Take care, Sher

My daughter was the same way at 13 months old, shes is now 16 months and has gained some weight. She is just small like I was when I was little, nothing to worry about.

that is what mine was but we did have to do a weight check but she was born 8#13oz and droped off her curve.. she probably is maintaining her curve.

my LO is 20 lbs, and 33 inches tall. i have had the WIC office tell me he is underweight, but when i go into his doc's office, the doc says he is perfectly fine. children grow at their own weight. your doc would tell you if he/she thought something was wrong

don't worry i think she sounds fine for her age my daughter is big at her one year checkup she was 23lbs and 33 inches!!! she was 90% in weight and off the chart for height so she is one extreme and yours isn't that much smaller in weight so i wouldn't be concerned at all. did they tell you what percentile she is in??

Well, my baby just turned 14 mos. the other day and he was 23lbs. at his checkup, so I think your babies' weight at 20lbs. is very normal. If she's eating eating and playing then she's good. I think babies know when to stop (most of em' lol). Don't worry, if the Doctor says she's fine, then she's fine :(

My daughter has been in the 25th percentile for her weight since birth. She was also 20.3 lbs and 31 inches tall at her 13 month check up, I am not concerned because the charts are mostly based on bigger babies. I saw a very chunky 5 month old last night at the golden coral resteraunt and the mother was feeding it mashed potatoes and gravy and other food, that kept coming back out of his mouth...but she pushed it right back in. I'd rather my daughter be under and healthy then over and have a chance of turning out like me...overweight.

My little man is only 18lbs at 14 months...he isn't even on the growth charts. She's small, but if she seems healthy then probably nothing to worry about.

Nope, not small, I think that is around 50th percentile. My son was 20 pounds and 30 inches tall at his 12 months checkup, and my Dr. said that was both around 50th percentile. My daughter didn't hit 20 pounds till she was 15 months, we couldn't turn her car seat till then. She is still a skinny mini, she is just at 30 ponds and 38 inches at 3 years and 3months old - she has always hovered around 25th percentile until this year, he finally hit 50th for weight.

Hi, my little boy Riley is 14 months now and as far as i know he is about 21lbs and my doctor said he is doing fine, so dont worry, ur little girl is fine too! I have one question for everyone tho, Riley has been ill quite a lot since he has been born, with colds, sickness and diarrohea bugs and even swine flu! Have any of ur children had this same problem with different illnesses? Because it seems like he has been ill every month since he has been born!

My boys were only 15.5 and 16.5 pounds at 13 months. They were only 1 pound, 13 ounces and 1 pound, 15 ounces at birth. My doctor says they should be about 20 pounds but was still happy with their progresss.

If that's the case I should be really worried....lol... she's just fine. My daughter was 13 months, 18 lbs and 31 inches tall and she's healthy and just fine. In a small percentile but doctor wasn't concerned either. Try some pediasure to help some. Other than that they are active and growing. As long as she's not losing weight she's good. Good luck

When my son Brady had his 12 month apt he was 20lbs and 30 inches tall. They said he was in the 25%. I weighed him the other day and he has gained a pound or so since we put him on the whole milk. Brady has been walking since 9 months so that is probably another reason he is keeping his weight down.

My son is also 13 months old. He was at the doctor just 3 days ago and is 18.6 lbs and 29 inches long. He is also small but the doctor does not seem to be concerned at all because he is very healthy!

Hey my baby girl just turned 14 months and weighs 20lbs and 29in. The doctor said she is fine. She is not underweight she is just on the smaller end in her age group. Nothing to be worried about. My baby girl loves to eat she is just going to be tiny which is fine.

My daughter at her 12 month check up ( 2 months ago) she was 24 lbs and 35 inches tall and the dr said she was overweight for her age but with her height it equaled out. If the dr isnt worried you shouldnt either

My little guy was 29 3/4 inches and 23 pounds at his one year check up. He is definitely smaller than his big brother (who was 29 pounds at a year!). Now, at almost 14 months, Eli is at least 25 lbs or more. Don't worry! She's fine! You wouldn't want a big girl like my big boys! :)

'normal' would be the same pounds as she is tall. my little girl is the same as yours...my doctor just assured me that she is what she is...a little peanut. she's healthy and eating, as long as her poop isn't always diarrhea then she's good :)

As long as she is healthy and eats good, she is fine. My daughter is 14 months and was just weighted and measured today, and she is only 17.3 lbs. and 28.25 inches and I was told what I'm telling you. I'm assuming she has also hit any milestones fine as well and unless there were more tell tale problems like not hitting milestones when she should I would just chalk it up to she's just going to be your little peanut!!!

Both of my girls weren't 20 lbs at 1. I only remember because I thought surely they have to be and turned their car seat around. Went to their 1 year appointment, and no, not quite. They were both right at 19 1/2 lbs.



My 13 month old son on the other hand is a big guy - 26 lbs at 12 months. I don't remember how tall he was though - he comes up to my 3 year old's chin. Not that you know her either. LOL My 3 youngest have always run 90-95% for height and the girls were 40-50% for weight.



My niece is 18 months old and just now weighs 21 lbs. She's just a petite perfectly healthy little girl.



Reading all the responses, I'd say your daughter is normal. :)

I have 14 month old twins and at 13 months the one was 17 lb 10 oz and the other one was 19 lb 5 oz so I would definately not worry he is a good weight

my son is almost 14 months and he only weighs 21 lbs. I wouldn't worry about it unless the doctor says something. My son is only in 35%tile of his age group for weight and generally boys are much bigger at this age, but my DR was not worried about it and I trust him. Just remember girls are usually smaller anyways...hope that helps

my daughter is the same. her doctor said as long as she is staying on the same growth curve, she is not worried. but she does eat a ton!! she is just little, but very healthy and active!!

Hello. I wouldn't worry about it. My son had his one year check up and weighed the same. I could have swore he was 50 pounds lol but I think it my arms and back playing tricks on me. I know my son would eat non stop if I let him but everything in moderation. I also breastfed my son and I have heard that is something that could have helped him not be over weight now. The doctor's would tell you if they were concerned, the well being of a baby is very important to them. Thankfully :)

Perfectly normal you need to compare to her birth weight instead of comparing to other babies. If she has been increasing her height and weight at a steady pace then she is fine. My son is 23lbs 30inc and he is 13 months.. Also remember that babies start to thin out around the age when they start walking they will stop gaining weight so fast.. now it will only be a 1lb or so a month instead of 3 or so Hope this eases your nerves

Emma was 22lbs and 29in at her 13 month checkup. She is short and avg weight for her size. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as she isn't losing weight it doesn't seem like anyone worries.

My daughter is 13 months and I wondered the same thing. I went to her 12 month check up and the doctor said she would like her to gain 2 more lbs. She is 19lbs. 8 oz. now. When she was born she was 7lbs. 3oz. The Dr. wanted me to wake her up to feed her every few hours so she would put on weight. I was breastfeeding and I was eating fattening foods. She pretty much became a chunker. I then started eating healthy and exercising and when she became more active and with her getting taller she thinned out a lot. She never lost weight, but her percentiles changed a lot due to my eating habits and her being more active. If you look on clothing tags, depending on the maker, it gives you a general idea for weight and height. JCPenneys is really good for it. But it seems to be pretty accurate. My daughter is very healthy, active, and above her milestone age. She is perfect. As long as the baby is not losing weight and is active, eating, and healthy your doing the right thing. Riley is my world and I wondered the same thing, but she is perfect...Even though the Dr. would like to see her gain 2lbs., she is petite, and the only reason she was a chunker was because of me and my eating habits :( so the Dr. is basing Riley's change on the percentile...All at the same time, every time we have her check ups she says Riley is perfect. Every child is different, but if something is wrong... you will know! Good luck and enjoy the next year...It will be full of milestones... I know I will enjoy! ;)
