Ready for a pillow?

Both my son n daughter have both had pillows from bein as young as 4mnth, i think its up 2 u, if u think it is safe for your child to have a pillow go for it x

I gave my daight a pillow a few months ago but It is a firm (foam type) pillow so there is no sinking in

My daughter, 20 months, does not have a pillow in her crib but has had a stuffed animal to sleep with for a long time now. About three months ago we noticed her using the animal as a pillow. Tonight, she has three stuffed animals. We havent really thought about gettting a pillow for her but will probably wait until she's in her toddler bed.

My daughter is almost 20 months old and we do not have a pillow in with her. She doesn't seem to need it, so we haven't gone out and got one. I think we are going to wait until we move her into her big girl bed. I really think it's up to you.

My son is 20 months old and has been using a pillow since she was abot 11 months old. He has never had any problem with it. Now when he wants a nap he gets his pillow lays down and says nite nite.

my daughter had reflux so I have always had her on a pillow to elevate her. I just didnt let her sleep in her own room with it until i saw that she could move herself into other sleeping positions.

We gave our daughter a pillow at 15 months because she had a really bad cold and it helped elivate her. She loved it so we kept it. its pretty flat though.

At about 17 months we gave our daughter a pillow. We gave her a flatter one from our guest room because I didn't think a fluffy one would be safe.

My 19 month old daughter has 2 pillows. She has a full bed of her own since she moves around a lot we didn't want her having a toddler bed. Give your little one a pillow when you think he is ready.

My son has had a pillow since he was a baby, to stop flat head syndrome - it was from a swedish company and made specially for babies. (In sweden all mothers are encouraged to use baby pillows to stop flat head - they even use them in the hospitals!)
He still has it, and chooses when he uses it - when #2 is born i'll be getting another one for baby.

I never even thought about what age is the "right" age to give them one! When she was in the crib, my little one never had one, but she moved into a toddler bed months ago (at about 14 months, maybe? She's 20 months now), and it just seemed she was more comfortable with a pillow.
We moved her to the toddler bed because she was having difficulty sleeping in the crib; she seemed to be experiencing a "trapped" feeling?! (That young?) So we tried her in the toddler bed and she did better.
Her first "pillow" was actually a firm quilt folded and tucked in a pillow case. I wasn't sure she really needed one, but she enjoyed it so much, I gave her a firm pillow to sleep on that had been mine. She loved having "mommy's scent" on her pillow, seemed to help her sleep, also.

my 20 month old has had a pillow pet in her crib since soon after she turned a year. She is a stomach sleeper, but im not worried because its not a real thick pillow and i think its soothing to her because it is so soft

my daughter (who is 20 months) has had a pillow since she was about 8 months i think. she loves her pillow. she won't go to bed without it and she will keep asking for it til we put it back in her crib. give it a try and hope it works for you

my 20 month old doesn't have a pillow but he does have about 15 stuffies in his crib. he loves them and they keep him occupied when he wakes up to early. he sleeps on them, cuddles them and plays with them, and I've never had a problem.

yes, started using one at 18 months...they love it.Seems natural to them. just make sure it's not too puffy!

My daughter is 20mth and still not using a pillow as she is a tummy sleeper. She does get a pillow to lay on the floor/couch. Also when she is in bed with us she loves to lay on my pillow as she is on her side. I think my other 2 were a little over 2yrs before they got a pillow as they were (still are) wiggly sleepers.
If you feel that she is ready give it a try. You can buy childrens pillows or stuff 1/2 a pillow case with some pillow stuffing.

My son insisted on using a pillow months and months ago. I tried so hard to discourage him and would try to take it away after he fell aslepp and he freaked out. So I found the slimmist one I could.

I got my son a pillow when he was 14 months for bedtime. Now at 20 months he's upgraded to a pillow pet. He lays on it and wants to be covered with his blankie and cuddle with a baby. I think he's just a couple months away from moving to a toddler bed.

oh you are fine to use a pillow now, shouldn't be a problem. My son is 20 months and I put a pillow in his crib mainly if he has a cold to keep his head elevated but now I've been leaving it in there all the time. i think it makes him feel as if he's in bed with us sleeping on one of our pillows :0)

My daughter is 19 months and I just started using one in her crib when she was sick and I think she likes having it in there so I haven't taken it out. I do agree that at this age they have enough head control to be able to use a pillow although experts say it's a no no.

yeh ive been usin a pillow for my little lad for the last 4 months or so. I gave it him when he was ill and now he cant sleep without it so give it a try it wont do no harm xxxxx

my son has had one since 8 months old haha pillows are only a no-no when they are young and dont have head control. im sure at 19 months he would be able to move if he got under the pillow. give it a try i hope it goes well!

I use one when my son is sick to elevate his head...he never stays on it!! I don't think it would hurt for you to try. :)
