Realistic Driving Set with separate keys? Reccomendations?

Hi

My 1 yr old is a car maniac and spends every waking and sleeping moment thinking about cars. She tries to get the car keys to play with all the time but I don't want her to be running around with a metal key in her mouth. So can anyone recommend a plastic toy key or set of keys? The more realistic the better. She won't be satisfied if it doesn't look like a car key. Also if it comes with a steering wheel-dashboard toy that's even better.

Thanks

playskool and parents have a set of realistic keys with the car alarm. they have a bit of weight to them and the keys are made of metal, but the edges are smooth and rounded so they cant hurt themselves. my son has a set and he loves them. the only problem with the keys, is he likes to throw the keys at us!

LOL Dawn. I have been doing the same but my little girl likes to run with the key in her mouth or up her nose so it's an accident waiting to happen in our case - big long pointy key. Then while I was looking for toy keys on the web I found an article by a doctor saying that metal keys contained lead! So that has scared me into action too. Not sure if it's absolutely true but didn't want to take the risk. Will take a look and see what they have in our local Home improvement store.

Jennifer. Thanks so much for that link. Those keys look quite realistic and fun. I am going to order a set now. She will love the engine noises too.

Yes not something I expected to be in them! I think I'll look into it more and post a warning in another thread because I've seen a lot of parents letting their children chew on keys.

Thanks Yinni - I'll take a look at those Playskool ones too!

Sorry, I let my son play with mine!! *Hiding head in "bad mommy" shame* :) He is most interested in the cards hanging off them though!! However, try a home improvement store; I think I have seen dummy keys that are plastic.....just an idea!
