I know most of the babies have had a 9 month checkup already this month, so I figured we could post their weight and length stats!

My daughter was 9 months old on the 16th. She is 16lbs2oz and 28 inches long. She eats like a cow, but she's just petite :)

My daughter just had her 9 month visit...actually 9 month 2 weeks...she was 27 inches and 19 pounds 8 oz.

She's much bigger at this age than my first...she didn't hit 20 pounds till she was over a year old.

My little one just had her 9 mo old check up (though she was already 10 mo.). She is 25 inches and weighs 15 lb 2 oz. Her doctor is also concerned and is sending us for some blood work to make sure her thyroid is working properly. She is also breastfed, and eats a bunch of table food each day. I'm not really worried, as she is doing developmentally everything (crawling, sitting, picking things up, etc.), but we'll see what the tests show.

It is just amazing to me to see the differences in each baby! It just reminds me that they are their own little people, with their own genetic make ups and their own personalities!

My little one is healthy. She's active, she's trying to crawl, breastfeeds ALL the time, and eats baby food several times a day in addition to some table food, but she's still under 15lbs. Perhaps you need a new doctor, because while my pediatrician did drill me about how much she was eating because of concern over her size, once she heard all she gets, she was happy. She says my daughter is healthy and happy, and perhaps genetics is playing a bigger role in her size then we thought. I can't see where formula would be any healthier for her.

Is anyone in your family small. My daughter isn't 15lbs yet either and she is 10mos today. My pediatrician says it may be genetic.

Quoting Tiffany:

Today I took Alex in for his 9 month checkup. His weight has fallen off. He's barely 15 pounds. He was born weighing 8lbs. Well his weight has fallen off since his 6 month appt. I've tried blockfeeding and giving him whole milk yogurt and egg yolks, but's he's gaining very little. He's eating really well, alert, happy, babbling, crawling, trying to stand on hs own, and getting into everything. Plus he's diaper count is good. He's has had some stool and blood tests before, but all were negative. So now the ped is referring him to a gastro internalogist(sp?) to see of he may have something wrong with his esophogus or something internally. I feel like a bad mom, since He's not gaining like he should. I am so worried, if something is really wrong with him or it maybe something that I have done. I wonder have anyone had this happen before? I don't know what to do.

Gosh..I wouldn't worry too much. All babies can't be the same weight. My son at 9months weighed 14.5 pounds. He is also very active and eats well. Think of it as some lucky adults who eat all day but manage to remain thin. As long as he has the energy to last through the day and isn't falling sick...I'd say don't worry :-)

Tiffany,

I completely undertand what you are talking about.  My little guy (at 10 months) is still under 15lbs.  I breastfeed him and the Dr's are driving me nuts.  It makes me feel like such a bad mom not to be able to get him to gain weight.  I know it's not my fault but it's not easy.  We have had millions of tests done and just went through a bunch more.  They day I should wean him and give him formula to fatten him up but I just can't see it.  It makes me sad.  Anyhow, we just have to remember that it is not our faults and the babies are what they are.  Small and sweet!

My Emma was born on the 15th and weighed 23 lbs at her 9 month apt. She is always very happy and is eating more table food than baby food at this point. I'm thinking of taking her off formula but feel I need to check with the pediatrician. Anyone out there switch cow's milk yet?

My pediatrician said that at 11 months you can start adding whole cow's milk in with the formula. The first week do 1/4 cow's milk with 3/4 formula. The second week, 1/2 cow's milk, 1/2 formula. The third week 3/4 cow's milk and 1/4 formula. Then after that they can have just straight cow's milk.

My daughter was 9 months on Nov. 6th. She was 19 lbs. and 23 in. Her doctor said she was short, but I didn't realize, until I saw everyone else responses, just how short she is! The doctor said when I was pregnant with her that she was just going to be small. Her older brother has always been right on track or above the average.

Doctor put him on whole milk at 9 months old. I love it cheapier than formula. The downfall is my little one still hasn't gotten any teeth but we are patiently waiting for them. He is getting tired of baby food and I can't really blame him.

Hey Tiffany, I wouldn't worry too much if your son is hitting all the normal benchmarks for his age... which it seems like he is! Good luck with everything... I'm sure your ped. is just trying to be proactive and nothing is wrong!

My daughter weighs 17.2 pounds and is 27 inches long. I swear she has a hollow leg because she eats all the time. She only wants to breastfeed at night so we do cow's milk during the day. I was on milk at 6months so I knew there was little chance of allergy. She is a little thing but I think it is because she is already walking and burning off a lot more calories.
