I breast fed my daughter for her first year and since i have stopped she will not accept any other form of milk. I have tried giving her cows milk and she wont drink it. I don't want to give her formula and am unsure of what other types of milk are OK for children. Any help or advice would be great as i am concerned for her little growing body. Thanks.

I started off by putting a little bit of Honey in her slightly warmed up (cow's)milk for about a week. She is now drinking it without the honey. Good luck, hope you find something that works for your little one! :-)

Do you have any breast milk you can mix in with the milk? Sometimes that helps them get use to the idea.
Also, do you still offer her snuggles and cuddles when she gets her bottle...sometimes they are missing that connection that breast feeding gave them/us. :)

Other thoughts: Soy is ok too if she would like that. Also, I put my daughter on 2% and she likes that. Babies are little humans to and I think we forget that...she may simply not like whole milk. Babies are 'suppose' to be on whole b/c of the extra fat and calories, but as long as you replace that you are fine. She does need calcium AND vit. D as vit. D works with Calcium to allow it to be properly absorbed that is why milk is important. You can get calcium and vit d in other foods if she doesn't take in much milk.
And ultimately just keep offering it...sometimes it just takes a little time to 'warm' up to the idea...it is a lot different than breast milk.

I am going through the same thing with my daughter, my Dr told me as long as she is eating cheese and yogurt she doesn't need to drink milk. I have not completely weaned her of the breast yet, and I am hoping when she does she will soon like to drink cows milk more. My daughter also refuses to drink whole milk, she will have sips of my 1% which what she will end up drinking I think. It is always a good idea to talk to your Dr. if you are concerned he will tell you what is best. Best of luck

Have you tried a semi skim milk, like 2%? Charlotte didn't like full cream milk (neither do I) She has 2% and loves it. She gets enough fat from other foods, like fish, cheese, avocado, butter, peanut butter, olive oil, coconut milk, etc. The calcium and other nutrients in 2% are the same as full fat milk, some are even better.

We are told by some that they must have full fat until they are 2, but I believe as long as they are getting enough of the good fats (not saturated fats) from other sources, they'll be fine.

Charlotte has just weaned herself, but I have been giving her little bits of milk with her meals for a few months now, as well as with her cereal, so she's all good

Well my friend just went through this. Her son is the smae age as mine. She had to go to pedisure, then milk. It's sweeter I guess. Her doc said it was ok so you might wanna ask your pedi for advice on it.
