My son has thrush. I am not sure how he got it though because there are several ways he could of contracted it. They gave him Nystatin that he takes 4 times a day. The Dr. said that the thrush can clear up within 10 days. Other than that just make sure that the baby's bottles, nipples, binky's, & toys are well steralized. Also, make sure you clean your baby's hands regularly if they put them in their mouth.

Let the air heal/dry your nipples as long as you can. Change breast pads with each feeding. Thrush sucks! Nystatin for baby and anti-fungal for nipples worked for both my sons and I.

I had it with my first son and had no idea what it was...did not find out till he threw up blood he had nursed from the deep cracks in my nipples I couldn't even see. Just went through a bout with son #2...another idea is to air out your nipples, let them dry as long as you can as dark moist places breed the yeast. Change your breast pads with every feeding. Anti-fungal for nipples and Nystatin for baby worked for us. It sucks!

My son had thrush for two and a half months straight. The prscription they gave him just wasnt working. We finally tried a treatment called ginsine violet. It worked great, the thrush is finally gone. I got it done at his clinic, one treatment everyday for three days. The only bad part is that your baby will have a purple mouth for a day or two after the treatment. Im pretty sure you can get it over the counter as well.

My daughter came home from hospital with thrush after the IV anti-biotics I was on for my 3rd degree tear. She was put on Nilstat Oral Drops 4 times a day and then for 2 weeks after the symptoms cleared, and I had to use an anti-fungal cream on my nipples after every feed to stop cross-infection. Also make sure you sterilise any toys or dummies.

me and my baby are on our 2nd round of thrush just make sure you both take the medicine. also it helps to boil all the babys toys, soothers and bottles everyday. my baby would also get fussy while feeding and shake his head back and forth. i dont know for sure but the medicine may have gave him tummy troubles and stinky poo..

hope some of this helped.
