My son is already walking, feeding himself table foods, babbling mama..babba..dada..ect.., puts balls in containers....anyways doing very well I believe. Although he just dosn't seem to want to clap, wave, or point yet? Is this normal. We haven't really been consistant in teaching him these particular things so I'm not sure.

my daughter is a feb 09 baby. She can wallk/dance/point/clap/ and has a brilliant vocabulary. She can understand everything i say and can sit and have a proper conversation with me. as for the waving etc, i dont think we taught her as such. she just picked it up from other people... i think it must be a boy thing.my best friend has twin boys the same age, but they can only say certain words and have only just learnt waving etc... i only have my daughter so im not completely sure, but it does seem that boys take longer. my daughter gets stressed playing with them cos she's wants to play cafe and doctors whereas they just want to throw things around! :-)

Well it's ok if things are learned "out of order" One daughter was going up and down stairs on her own at 7.5 months and walking at 9 months THEN did the clapping and baby babble. My second daughter was using 3 word sentences before walking very stably. Having over 20 nieces and nephews from 18 on down I've seen a lot so no need to worry. He will be doing all that and more sooner than you think!

My son is doing all u mentioned, but he is not clapping yet or waving, however I haven't really put much emphasis on this! He will do it when he is ready, that is my theory, I wouldn;'t worry about it1

My son feeds himself, babbles, waves, and points, but he doesn't walk or clap yet. I think this is normal. My daughter did everything listed by 8 months at the latest, but my son has been slower to develop these things. I've heard that if a baby has just accomplished a major milestone, they are less eager to try out new things for awhile.

My daughter just started clapping and pointing about 2 weeks ago. She babbles but no coherent words yet. She waves night night but bye only a few times. She's taken a few steps but isn't walking yet. As far as clapping, pointing and waving go...if you want him to do it, do it lots yourself. He will love to copy his mama :) (And I agree with saying yay and clapping and smiling. First he will just smile back but it won't be long!)

My daughter can do all of the above. She just learned to clap her hands 2 days ago... I was so proud :)

My son isn't clapping, but loves when I clap my hand against his. He holds his hand up in a wave, but doesn't "wave" it back and forth. I think all this timing is totally normal.

My daughter does all of those things on your list.. she actually clapped very early, now says 'bye' when she waves, and has just started walking in the last couple of weeks. My friend's son is also a Feb 09 baby, though, and he doesn't clap, wave or point (or walk lol). I wouldn't worry. As long as you know he's getting enough interaction he will figure it out for himself :)

my 2nd son is 11 months old and the only thing he doesnt do from your list is walking, he is very close though so shouldnt be much longer. with clapping, if he achieves something or copies something good that someone does, clap your hands and happily say yay! he may start doing because you are and you are happy doing it. with my little ones, whenever someone leaves be it family or friend, we always move their hand around and we say bye. not long after my little one was doing it by himself and my elder son says bye and gives kisses as well. with pointing, if you are going outside for a walk, point to things (trees, cars, dogs, cats, houses, buses etc) and tell them what they are. make sure they can see you point. even if your at home, you can point to the windows, doors, toys etc.

My son is very good at clapping but won't always do it...it seems to be slowing down lately. He waves hello by raising his arm up to the sky and will sometimes bounce it around. He does not point. I am fairly consistant with teaching him these things.

My daughter will wave bye bye and say "bye ba" while doing it and can clap. She doesn't point which I haven't been consistant in doing that either.

My son is doing all that except for walking and he is not pointing or waving but he loves to clap. I have not been consistent in teaching him to wave and as far as pointing goes....he pretty much has everything he would want within his reach.
