Hi there, I have a 20 month & 2 week daughter old that weighs a WHOPPING 43 lbs and is 3 feet tall, I'm not too surprised because her father is 6"3.
I was just curious about other babies weight/heights at this age, every other child I see around her age seems to be half her weight :S

Thanks :)

My son, born Feb. 24, 2009, weighs 21.5 lbs and measures 31.5". He has always been on the slim side, but I am not worried. As everyone else says, don't pay this stuff any mind at this stage....activity level is what determines health at this age.

When it comes to milk I make sure it is hormone and antibiotic free, but I stick to whole. The fat in Milk is a good fat and kids need the fat for brain development until 3-5 years of age. My doctor always told me unless they are obesse, there is no need to change. Check out her growth chart. If she has no high dips or jumps - she is doing well and is just tall... Right now it might be hard, but later in life she will be glad for her height. :)

my girl LOVES to eat fruit, every breakfast we have watermellon, banana, and rasberry 'salad' & she loves vegetables (I know, eh!?) She asks for peas and beans for supper quite a bit which is nice :) I rarely feed her junkfood, maybe some cheezies once a week or something, even then - its in moderation.. I added new pictures of her to her 'page' and as you can see she's not 'obese' she's just tall and her weight is higher so she's 'evened out' :)
But, to think about it she does drink whole milk most of the time, my mother buys my milk and I pay her back, cause she buys it cheap(ish) I'll have to switch to 2% or skim, it does have the same calcium percentage.
Thanks for the indivdidual(s) who pointed that out to me :D

I can relate with my daughters. They are all tall for their ages. My 2nd girl look like she was 4 when she was only age 2. People thought there was something wrong with her. They would ask me and be shocked when I said she was only 2. She is now 8 and one of the tallest in her grade (probably the tallest girl). As my doctor always tells me. She looks great on the growth chart. She averages 3 inches, 3 lbs a year. Her dad is also tall and I am not super tall, but I am not short. My husband also has a nephew and uncles that are over 6.5. It is just in their nature to be tall. I also find a lot of people to be shorter then the average according to the doctor. My oldest is now 10 and she is on the taller end of her grade, but no so much that she stands out to much. I am sure your daughter looks extra big now, but when she hits school age - she may be taller, but she will fit in. Plus I find people look at my kids age a little more maturer. Maybe the height or maybe they are???

Well my son's father is 6'9" and while he was pretty large at birth, he has been pretty normal for most of his life. He will be 2 in Feb. and he is 34 inches tall but only 29 pounds. Like everyone else has said they are all different.

My hubby is short also, and our oldest child is small to. But our middle daughter who is 7 is already the same size as our 9 yr old, and then our 21 month old as I said is also small. I agree with the posts on here, as long as they are proportioned, and healthy, and the dr isn't concerned either I wouldn't stress to much. All kids are different, and genetics play a roll also as in our case.

Mine is at the other end of the spectrum, she just hit 21 lbs and is 31 in. her father is only 5"5 though.

I have a 21 month old that is 22 lbs, but she is on the small end of the spectrum due to some food allergy issues. Every child is different, as long as she is healthy and proportioned I wouldnt worry to much.

My son is barely over 21 lbs, but 30 in. Comfortablely still wears 6-12 mo size clothing. I'm appreciating his smallness while I've got it since they grow so fast!

The average is what they post on baby clothes for their age but every baby is different. When I first had my daughter the Dr. said wake her up every 3 hrs to make her eat. I was breastfeeding and she became chunky..once I starting eating healthier and she became more active around 6 months and was also starting to eat veggies & fruits & cereals she started to grow taller and thin out. Now she is almost 21 months and is in a size 2t height but she still wears 12 & 18month (and 2T that have the adjustable waistband) bottoms because of her waist...she is tall & slender like her dad. She is 23 lbs & 33 inches tall...The Dr. started getting concerned once she started thinning out and I kept telling her over and over it was because of how I was eating..that is why she was a "chunker" The Dr. has finally let go of the weight issue and she has always said she looks perfect. She is healthy. You baby is supertall!! So I am sure the extra 20lbs is proportained properly...also I am pretty sure the Dr would tell you if there was an issue especially with how many obese children there are. Just feed her healthy and keep her active! That's the best you can do :)

My son is 21 months and 36 lbs. I'm not sure his height these days, but always a bit taller than the kids at daycare. He is not at all fat or overweight. His height and weight have both been at the 95th percentile. He weighed 9 lbs at birth. His dad and I are the same height 5'9" and were both big babies. Our 7 month old daughter weighs 20 lbs now! Just big healthy babies!

my daughter is small for her age, born on the 11th feb 2009 she is 17.6bs (8kgs) and 27inches tall (68cm), better to be a bigger than smaller is my opinion

My son (February 11th, 2009) is 21 months and weighs 24 pounds and is 36.5 inches tall...The dr. has been concerned about him not gaining weight since he's only gained half an ounce in 7 months, but he eats and eats and eats. If your dr. isn't worried, I wouldn't be either.

My son is about the same age he will be 21 months next week. He is 23 pounds and is about 33 inches tall so I guess thats about 2 1/2 feet tall. He is below average for his age though I think hes like in the 35 or 40 pectentile.

My son who's almost 2 weighs 23 pounds. And he's 35" tall. He's a very very very active young boy. And a very finickey (sp?) eater. I try so hard for him to sit still and eat but he won't. The docs tell me that they are concerned with his weight and told me to get him a nutritionist.

My daughter is 21mths and 1 week and is 32lbs (14.2kg) and 90cm (35in). She was 9lb 6oz, 55cm (22in) at birth, and has always been in the high 90s in percentiles. But her weight gain has slowed dramatically since she turned 1 (and her height has accelerated). She's only gained roughly 2kg all year (4-5lbs) so has slimmed down a lot, which is normal for this stage of development.

Have you spoken to your doctor about your concerns? How fast is she gaining? And what is her diet like? Does she drink a lot of whole milk?

as long as she is eating healthy and your dr isn't concerned about it then i wouldn't be concerned about it. my husband is 6' 2" and our 4 yr old daughter weighs 36lbs finally and 43" tall and our youngest born feb 09 is short at 33" and 22lbs. their build is always different so you can't even go by others.

hi, looking at your photos, she looks fairly proportionate, looks like she's a pretty good weight for height (and gorgeous too!)

I think as for all kids, lean towards whole and healthy foods, with occasional foods kept for special occasions, no matter what their height/weight.
I'm at the other end of the scale where most kids are bigger than Charlotte, but I just keep her eating healthily and getting her rest and she's a very healthy kid.

Look to her health and vitality rather than her height. Everyone has something that others will happily point out for them all their lives, hers will probably be her height. It could be worse.
