My 5 1/2 month old has become a restless sleeper at night and also during the day. He doesn't seem to be able to sleep more than 20 minutes during the day at naptimes, and most of the time less than that. At night he is so worn out (and me too) but sleeps soundly for about 2 hours and then trashes, kicks and scoots around. He will do that and sleep off and on for hours but doesn't cry, though he sometimes grunts. Before this started he was sleeping most of the night, about 7 hours. He was also taking a good hour nap in the morning and then another about 2 hour nap in the afternoon. I would appreciate any feedback or more importantly advice on how to help rest more peacefully. He recently cut his 2 bottom teeth, a few days before this started. But doesn't seem to be the problem. He is still sleeping in our room in his bassinet beside the bed. I've tried putting him in his own room in his crib but that made it even worse. Please help!

Babies will not sleep, no matter how full they are, if other needs are not met. Full does not take away scared, lonely, cold, ect. Babies are biologically made to wake to eat at night. Artificial fillers are not good!
Co-sleeping is a great thing, it even greatly reduces the risk of SIDS! See the "Peadceful Parenting" website or FB page for more info & studies on the benefits!
Just practice patience, this is nature and how things work! Snuggle that baby and enjoy it! These days will be gone too soon, take your babies leed and run with it, it will be ok and you will be quite amazed what happens when you follow your babies lead!

my LO started that just the same at about 4 1/2 mo. Right about the time the 2 bottom teeth came in! Patience, mine is 1 week shy of 6 mo and getting back to solid sleeping. Keep baby close, don't add any food to his diet. Stick baby in bed with you, that really helps, they still need the warmth and closeness and it is soooo soothing for them! Good luck!

i just have to add. if they are full they will sleep unless in pain, and if they sleep in the bed with you too long they will grow up and wake up and get in bed with you, my nephew is that way and its not good. everynight he gets in bed with mom and dad.

i give my little man rice in his bottle right before bed and he sleeps all night. maybe you should try giving him something thick before bed that way he isnt hungry, and maybe even turning all the lights and noises off in the room.
