how does everyone feel about baby mum-mum snacks? my daugher wants to feed herself, but doesn't really like the taste of many "first finger foods" i'm trying to just get her started on something simple since she doesn't have any teeth before moving onto veggies and fruit pieces. cheerios she does okay with, gerber's puffs she'll eat a couple of but after that she spits them out, yogurt melts literally make her gag (lol) but she LOVES baby mum-mums. i just noticed on the box though that they have added salt and sugar. is it really THAT big of a deal? she eats MAYBE one a day.
does anyone else give these to their baby?

My daughter has been eating them since about 5 months they are great with teething and she loves them. So I love them too bc they help with her gums when we are up at night fighting her teething spell!.

My daughter loves the Baby Mum Mum.. (and I'll be honest, I like them too! ) .. The Rice ones taste better than the original...

The only disadvantage for the Mum Mums.. is that they break easily, and my daughter likes to shove it in her mouth and bite down with her gums.. so she'll be left with a chunk in her mouth.. As with all baby foods, they need to be supervised while snacking!

My 8 month old daughter LOVES mum-mums. I give it to her once a day. I'm not to concern about the salt and sugar level, its not that extremely high. If you are concern I'll give her water after eating it, that way she won't dehydrate.

If you're worried about the added sugar and salt you could try plain rice cakes. They are only made from brown rice and dissolve easily in your mouth. I've started giving them to my daughter this past week (she'll be 9 months on Nov 4th) and she loves them.

I give my little miss who is 8 months a packet of 2 after breakfast and lunch as well as a sandwich and a tin of food at each meal. and it is only after the rice rusks that she will have the only organic teething rusks.

My daughter is also 8 months old and LOVES them! And I love them because they are WAY LESS messy than other "cookie" and "cracker" type baby snacks.

I give my son the rice mum-mum snacks the veggie flavored one, he loves them. He also likes the gerber biter biscuts and the gerber wagon wheels. and he has no teeth and does great with all 3.

My 9 month old LOVES them and has been eating them almost 2 months now. We bought a big box of them at Sams club. They are great. She eats them when we are out to eat or eating dinner at the table because she can feed herself without dropping puffs everywhere. The puffs are great to, but the container goes stale really fast. I'm afraid to try Cheerios yet because of choking.

My son LOVES them, I think in the over all the added salt and sugar is not more than if you are feeding you baby jar baby foods or those gerber puffs. They are big enough for little hands to hold and they are NOT messy like those biter biscuits. my son eats them and has NO teeth.

Sugar is like crack for your baby, but given in small doses or in moderation is fine. Everything in moderation is fine. I would avoid giving her too many a day just because you don't want her to get full on them and not have room for real nutritious food. I give my baby Veggie Straws. I purchase them at Costco. They have one gram of sugar per 37 straws and there is no way my daughter would eat that many in one day plus her 'real' food. They are made of potato flour, tomato puree, and spinach powder. I was going to give my baby Mum Mums but I came across these Veggie Straws instead. I purchase them at Costco.

I love the mum mums too... Great snack for on the go. My mother in law just pointed out to me that they are made in CHINA . With all the recalls from there. Does anyone know if there is a similar brand but made in US or Canada?

I give them to my daughter too. She's 8 1/2 months old and she loves them! I don't see a problem with a bit of added salt or sugar. I've also been giving my daughter cheerios for awhile. They dissolve super fast in her mouth. She doesn't even use her teeth. I think cheerios are great for learning how to pick up small pieces of food.

I give my baby all sorts of different finger foods, including mum mums. They are fine. My little guy eats pretty much anything we eat as long as it's cooked, cut up in small pieces and dissolves or is easily mushed. He is already chewing and showing signs that he was ready for soft cut up food though. He wont even eat pureed food anymore. He want's to do it himself. My Doctor says as long as they are ready for these foods they should have them. Mum mums are a great started finger food.

@Kimberly- They are teething biscuits! I didn't know either but I just looked them up.
I've never seen or heard of them. I give my daughter Earth's Best wheat teething biscuits and she LOVES them! They are really a highchair snack though, which I learned after letting her eat it sitting on the couch with us. By the end it was all over me and DH's clothes and everywhere on the couch and the dog even got to try a piece ha! The mum mums sound cool though since they come in different flavors!

I give these to my baby everyday.. He LOVES them. I buy the organic kind, they don't have all the added ingredients that the regular ones have.

My daughter loves them as well. I've only tried the vegi so far. She eats about 1 a day. I wouldn't worry too much about the added salt and sugar since she's only eating one a day. Maybe I'll give the cheerios a try as well.

What are Mum Mum's??? Lol...
My little one will be 8 months old on Sat. Oct. 23rd. She loves the Puffs also, and is just starting to learn how to put them in her mouth by herself. I was feeding them to her at 7 months when I introduced them to her. I have not tried the cheerios, but my Pediatrician said they were okay. I too, was concerned she would "choke" on them. Okay.....so tell me plase what the mum- mums are??? Now I need to know! :O)

I gave them to my daughter, and even the WIC office recommended them. I don't think one a day will hurt, but if it gets to be like a whole meal that's another story. An alternative that I gave my daughter, was these munchkin nets that hold fold in the net so they can't choke on it, and it has a thing for them to hold onto like a pacifier. I put fresh fruit and veggies in it, and she LOVES it.

My little guy is 8 months now and he loves the mum-mums. He also loves just about everything we give him. We have been blessed that he is an eater. He even loves things I wouldn't expect him to eat like salsa(homemade), pesto(also homemade), just to name a few. He has even tried and really enjoyed fish(salmon). Good luck, feeding is a fun adventure!

I give my son the original and veggie baby mum-mums and he enjoys them. They save my butt if we're out shopping and he gets hungry & cranky! Always watch them carefully while eating, as my little guy did choke on a big piece one time.

My LO LOVES them.. at first I thought they were funny and not very exciting but now I think they're great... what I really love about them is the fact that they're NOT very messy. The "cookies" are super messy and sometimes I just want to give her something quickly and this fits the bill. My daughter will be 8 months on the 27th and she pretty much eats everything. I still give her jar food but she eats noodles, chicken, watermelon.

im a fussy mum and will only give my child food that is for his age bracket. i havent tried baby mum mums but my first kid loved them and a little bit of salt and sugar shouldn't hurt, but you do what you feel comfortable with.

My daughter also loves the mum mums... i also give her peeled, chopped up and seeded peices of grapes, cucumber sticks, she loves sucking on bread, or little peices of bread, little peices of watermelon even tiny peices of chicken so that she can get used to picking food up and putting it in her mouth you name it she will eat it..and she loves the freedom of being able to do it herself.. OBVIOUSLY under my supervision of course!!

I give my daughter about 1 a day and usually I give her the organic ones. She also loves the Gerber puffs and cheerios..I was worried at first about cheerios but they dissolve pretty easy...bananas are also a great finger food. I cut hers into little pieces and she loves it..Messy but a great starter as they mush so easily.

I do!! My daughter is 8 months now, and loves the banana flavoured ones! :) She also has 1 per day, if that. I have yet to try her on any other finger foods. Your daughter eats cheerios okay without teeth?? I see moms giving their 8 months old them, but fear of her choking. Let me know. :)
