My son had 3 smash cakes! One my best friend make for him to get pictures done. The second was on his birthday that i made for him, and it was very funny the second time bc he rly kno what to do w/ it! And the third was at his party. I was a lil worried giving him cake for the first time and # at that but he did very well...meanig no tummy aches or nasty surprises in his diaper! lol...and his birthday cake i made elmo and it took me four hours but he loved it soo much and i was so proud of myself ^_^

for my daughter (who was one on the 8th) she had a two tired chocolate cake, the bottom tire was covered in pink Icing and Purple/pink hearts which had number 1's in them and the top tire was covered in purple and had Yellow flowers with blue centers. I made the cake for her myself and had the best time doing it!
Everyone said how lovely the cake was too so that made her party even better :D (well for me it did anyway haha) xx

We are having a monkey cake done for our baby boy because he's out little monkey! It will be a round cake w/ a monkey face, banana's on the sides, and a loving message!

I just did Kaidyn's first birthday. The first thing he really showed interest in was the toodles character on Mickey's clubhouse so we had a toodles cake. Luckily the red didn't stain anything. It also worked great because with the number of people I had invited I could make two flavors of cake and just cut off an ear for Kaidyn to have his own to destroy.

Oh my goodnes!!! My daughter is born on the 17th and her name is ariana. The only major dfference is my baby loves elmo so that's what her cake will be but I'm gicing her earrings that are purple to add in her birthstone. :)

when my son turned one i got him a lil chocolate cake with chocolate icing stripped him down to his diaper and let him have at it he went face first his cake was spongebob had to rinse the highchair off with the hose fyi the chocolate on chocolate he didnt poo for 3 days!

We celebrated our sons birthday on the 5th! Had a chocolate monkey cake, and rainbow cupcakes (we have a large extended family) as well as Nachos, and fresh fruit! He got a piece of the cake, and a cupcake, and absolutely loved them! I put him in a dark shirt so that it wouldn't stain, but he was actually very neat with his cake! It didn't even get in his hair! Have fun, but keep in mind that food colouring might make them stay awake longer...

We had initially planned to do a big birthday party, but my brother is ill in the hospital.. and it's just not the right time for it. (No one's in the mood to celebrate when family is sick) ... we're definitely doing 2 cakes though... one is for little DeAndra, it's going to be a disney princess doll cake :) .. and a tiramisu cake from AJ's fine foods; for the rest of us..They are delicious!



& my princess is on the 22nd too! :D

Other food I've decided on- fruit (whatever nice fruit I can find at the supermarket, cut into bite size pieces), Tiny Teddy biscuits, Savouries, Pizza, Crackers and dip, cocktail sausages, mini apple muffins, and fairy bread! That way there's a bit of a selection and mums can choose what they like for their littlies to eat! hope this helps!

My boy's on the 22nd too! We're having his party on the 19th. I'm making him a banana cake train. I've done a practise run so I know what I need to do differently next time! He's allergic to dairy, and I plan to use butter icing since it looks so much nicer. I'll just make sure I have a piece without icing for him :)
As for the mess, we have those bibs with sleeves, so I always make sure he wears one of those if he has nice clothes on!

My son will be one on the 22nd! I'm so excited and can't believe that its about here! We are having his party on the 20th, just family and close friends. We were thinking of football theme. Found the cutest party pack online "Little Quarterbacks 01st Birthday" As for cakes we have ordered a half-sheet cake (white and chocolate) decorated like a football field and a football shaped cake (marble), and my son is going to have his own little 6 inch cake that has his name on it with the number 1. I, too, am thinking of stripping him Dow to just his diaper when it comes to the cake eating. the one thing I am having trouble with I deciding what kind of snack finger foods. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!

i know a lot of people dont do a big party for the first birthday but we plan on doing one.. my daughter Arianna will be 1 on the 22nd and were having her party on 20th.. she loves being around other kids so we thought a party would be perfect for her.. my dad is buying a cake from a lady that he knows from work.. its going to have Dora the explorer on it.. My daughter loves dora.. i also plan on stripping my daughter down when we give her a piece of the cake as i know its going to be accented in purple and i dont want her to ruin her tutu dress.

As Hannah is our little princess, a princess castle was utmost in my mind for her - my friend has a cake making business and I spent almost 5 hours with her - decorating her cake - it was truly a labour of love!

My son's birthday was today and his party is this weekend. We are doing an Elmo theme for his party. I made a small carrot cake for him with homemade cream cheese frosting and a chocolate cake with white frosting for the partygoers. So excited!

Were doing a construction theame for my son on the 19th. We are thinking of doing a plan rectangle cake and driving one of his big bulldosers over it to "scoop" up the cake. maybe with some kitkat logs....lol. Carrot cake for sure though. not too sweet. we used chocolate cupcakes for my daughters first birthday and she wouldnt eat it. too sweet. Happy Birthday Cade and all the other Feb babies!!!

My daughter's birthday was on the 3rd!!! We had her party yesterday! It was so much fun!!! We did pink and zebra print!! I made her cake and it was a pink poodle cake!! It was so adorible!!!

It sounds weird together but it actually all went together really well!! I bought all the pink zebra print items several months back and she really loves dogs so we decided that a that a pink poodle would tie it all in together!!! She really enjoyed her cake but was kind enough to share with mommy!

It was so much fun for all of us!! We had all of our close family and freinds there that have been around this first year to watch her learn and grow! That is still a lot of people though and of course we tooks lots and lots of pictures!!! Happy Birthday to all of little ones!!!

My son's party is today, superbowl sunday, so our theme is sports! He has a special dairy free-egg free cake since he is allergic to them! It is in the shape of a football...have fun everyone!!

Hi Mums. Yes I agree Robyn, being a Mum has certainly shown some highs and lows of me I thought were never possible - children huh? lol



Well my daughter is 1 at the end of the month, 26th, so I'm starting to prepare her invitations etc etc. My birthday cake idea is pretty basic (I think) but I'm gonna make her name, her name is made up of three letters heheheheee so E M A it will be. Unsure of the icing though. I enjoy clothing her with bright colours, hot pinks and purples.



A great tip I heard about applying icing is make your cake the night before, cool down then place in freezer. The next day, cover with icing. This is so your icing doesn't look all crumbly :)

my daughter will be 1yrs on the 25th of this month. Im really iffy on what to do for her. It will be way to cold for outside and she cant handle dairy products. Plus she has kidney issues now. i just hope she doesnt spend her first bday in the hospital like she did for christmas. But i was thinking cup cakes and such.. with pink icing with little safari animals on them. she loves animals more so on cats and birds.

Sorry, Robyn,
I thought you meant a sheet cake with a big purple 1 iced right in the middle! That's why I was suggesting light pink backround! This way you can cut her piece off of the part that's NOT purple. You may want to put a little white in the frosting so it's not TOO dark, or be ready with a LOT of wipeys! Have fun :)

Hey ladies! There's some great ideas!! I love them. I'm not sure what this purple candle is all about tho! hahaha I wrote a big purple number 1. Like the cake will be in the shape of the number 1 with purple icing.
Stacy- I am going to mix red and blue icing together... eek but it makes purple and it just HAS to be purple. haha

Happy 1st birthday, Ariana!! Robyn, I used to have my own cake business long ago and would like to help out by making this suggestion: make Ariana her own cupcake OR make sure that her piece does NOT have RED, BLUE, OR BLACK icing! These colors stain like crazy and would take forever to wash out of my skin. If her piece is coming from one main cake, may I suggest light pink frosting? Just for the sake of not ending up with a Rainbow Brite baby! (hey, its happened!)

What types of things does your daughter like? perhaps try something that she'll recognize. For me, well I am not sure what kind of cake we'll have for Trinity yet (her b-day is on the 22nd). So far we've had people offer to buy or make one for her, so I think it will probably be a surprise. If I decide to make one myself I think that I will make a Winnie the pooh colored one, because that's one of her favorite toys. I know Feb. is the month for love, but I think heart shaped cakes aren't as fun as other shapes. What about a cake with balloon shapes/ icing.

The purple candle is a great idea, think I may use that as well :)
