Does my son weigh too little?

Natalia is going through the same thing. At her 6 month check up she weighed 13lbs 7oz. And the doctor said "im a little worried about her weight" But she seems healthy and is always eating. We've started feeding her more oatmeal and feeding her 3 times a day and also some snacks in between. So far she has already gained a little weight. She was 14.2 this morning.

all babies grow at different rates, and it also depends on his height. at 6 months, as long as your baby has doubled in weight since birth, he is probably okay. my daughter is 17lb, 2 oz (at 6 months) but she is also 27 1/2 inches long.
ask your doctor what percentile he is in, if he is 25th percentile then out of 100 boys his age, then he is only heavier than 25 of them and so on.

my baby weighted 13lbs 7 at 5 1/2 months. every baby is different i wouldnt worry to much as long as he is gaining weight and eating enough for you. my son is 6 1/2 months now and around 14lbs 10ozs

my girlie is 6 1/2 mths and only weighs 12lbs 13oz! 24 inches. Sounds like you and your son are doing just fine! Enjoy him.

My daughter is 6 1/2 months and weights 13 lbs, she's small, everybody keep giving me their opinion which I never ask for, about how to feed her and bla bla, she doesn't seem to like her milk and doesn't eat much solids but she's healthy, sleeps all night, sits a bit with support,smiles a lot, in general really happy. The nurse told me to put more calories on her food, and I'll see how it goes, Dr said she seems healthy.
He told me babies who are thing and active are healthy babies.

hi there, i kinda know what your going through, my daughter was born 2/9 and at her last checkup she was 15 lbs and 26 in long and she gets cereal in her bottles because of acid reflux and my sister had her daughter on 2/27 and she weighs almost 21 pounds, they go to different pediatricians and neither drs are concerned with either babies weights, i wouldnt be to concerned but if you are then talk to your pediatrician

at my last WIC appt. Mikayla was 12lbs and 12 oz. which about a week ago. and she just turned 6 months yesterday. I had her Feb. 20.

my son just turned 6 months and weighs 18lb. and is 27.5 inchs. he weighed 9lb 6oz when he was born as a bit more info for you. are you feeding him solids? does he seem seem satisfied after every feed? does he sleep well?
Few different variables to think of. I'm sure your baby boy is perfectly ok.

My son was 14 pounds, 10 ounces and 25.5 inches long at his 6 month check up. He is low on the percentile, only 4th %ile, but he's perfectly healthy and growing just fine.

Ive just had my daughter weighed. She is 6 months and she weighed 14lb 9 oz.Health visitor said she was spot on. Each child is different and dont weigh the same at birth

As far as he eats well, and he's happy i would not worry about that. my son is 6 months and weighs 17lb.8oz, while me friend's daughter is one day older then him, but weighs 15lb. she is very happy and healthy too. So don't worry. Just ask his doctor.

That's nonsense! HEALTHY babies should be the goal, not ones who are judged by their weight.
I don't think doctors realize that what they say off-the-cuff really sticks with or worries us mommies.
As long as your LO is eating well, having adequate poops/pees, generally happy, etc... I don't think there would be anything to think twice about.

The doc said he's healthy, but made the comment they like to see chubby babies at his age, which got to me.

My son was the same thing at his 5.5month appointment. As long as he's happy and healthy, and the doc isn't concerned... There's no issue. We've just got smaller boys. :) He's now 6 months and probably just making it to 15lbs is my guess! Born Feb 8th. :)

My daughter was only born 4 pound 4 ounces and weighs a little over 6kgs but she is very long and also eats like a pig.

My son is 6 months and weighs 21 lbs and is 30 inches long, he's over 100% for his age group! BUT he weighed 9.9lbs and 21.5 inches at birth (a week early) My 1st son is also a big boy, weighing 9.14 and 22 1/4 inches long at birth. Now 3 years old, he's in 75% of his age group at 33lbs and 3.5 feet tall. (My husband is a very tall man though, so the Doc's are not worried about my sons :)

My baby girl was 6 months old on the third, and she was 15 pounds 25 1/4 in long at her 6 month checkup. I constantly have people telling me that she's soo little but her doctor says that she is perfectly where she needs to be and she is growing and hitting all of her developmental marks perfectly so I am not concerned! I don't know if you bf or not but bf babies tend to be smaller than formula fed babies, I don't know if that helps or not, I hope so!

My daughter is going in for her 6 month check up next week and we are hoping that she is going to weigh 15 lbs! A friend of mine posted that their 2 month old was 16 lbs!! Some babies are just more petite than others. Both my husband and I were petite when we were babies so I am not concerned. My baby acts and looks very healthy and that is all I care about!

My son is 6 months old & weighs 14lbs. 8oz. & he's 26 1/2 inches long. The doctor told me the normal range for 6 months is anywhere from 14lbs.-22lbs.

no just remb, that each kids gains weight and grows differnt....as long as he is eating and having pee and poo diaper (about 5 pee and poo depends on breast or formula)--u have no reason to worry--- u can look up growth chat on the net and u can find where ur child fall on it and it will give u an ideal how big he really is...if im right there is some on this site....but my daughter is 6 months as of 2day (the 18th) and she weights 12lbs 4oz she is in the 3rd% of babys her age but its ok bc she has about 6 pee diaper a day and a big poo about every 3(she is breastfed) complete normal she is going 2 b small

Every baby is diffrent my son is 6 months and he is 28 in and 17lbs 10oz so your baby is at a healthy weight for your baby if there were any concern's your Dr would speak up right away hope that helped.

hi. norah is 14 pounds. she is very long. dr. sears calls babies with this body type "bananas", where most of the weight goes into their length. She seems pretty skinny to me but not dangerously so. she is also a very light eater, only eating about 20 oz a day. the dr. keeps saying its ok, but i would be lying if i said it didn't bother me......a friend recently told me that the best way to tell if a baby is ok is if they are happy. she wouldn't be if she was starving. my baby is happy. so i will just go with that i guess.

Every baby is different my son had his check up last week and is 6months and weighs 19lb... Maybe he is just goign to be a petite little man : ) if at his check they wernt worried i wouldnt worry. if he has enough to eat/drink and is healthy thats all you need to care about.

My daughter was born 2/18 and she is 15 pounds. People keep saying that she is so small. She has her yummy fat rolls but she is very petite. I am going to talk to her pediatrician when we go for her 6 month shots. I totally understand what you are going through
