Fall Baby Shower Ideas

Boy, have I got some resources for you! :) My sister is due Oct. 17, and we're giving her shower on Oct. 10. She doesn't know what she's having, so we couldn't have a boy/girl theme, so we're doing fall as well. It happens to be my FAVORITE time of year anyway, and my husband and I got married November 2 years ago, and everything was fall. Mostly, you can take hints from nature. The colors this time of year are SO beautiful. We're using deep reds and oranges and browns (the colors of the leaves) and a forest green. Also, rather than saying yellow, tell your family it's gold, that way it sounds more classy and less 70s (maybe what they're picturing?). I'll take a picture of the invitation I made and post it on here for you.



For food, we're serving pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon butter, an apple strudel pastry, an assortment of quiches, fruit salad, and pumpkin roll. We're having the shower at 10:30AM, and we're doing it outside, so weather-permitting, it should be beautiful. We're serving coffee, mulled cider, and virgin mimosas for drinks. Also, we're going to have apples in bushel baskets (mostly because the reds on the apples are SO beautiful!).



For the tables, we're using white and brown tablecloths with brown Kraft paper down the center (I found a great deal on ebay - 5.99 for 65 feet of paper. let me know and I'll get you the seller - they have tons). Then we're going to use scrapbooking paper (the same paper I used for the invitations) and place it in the center of the table with a cluster of mini-pumpkins (I think they're actually gourds) in it. There will be one main pumpkin, we're not sure if we'll do it a big one or a small one yet, with fresh red and white gerber daisies in it. You just hollow out the pumpkin, put some water in it, and put the flower in so that only the flower part is showing, not the stems. They are beautiful! We're also going to get some mini-pumpkins and carve them with scallops and leaves. (Sounds confusing, but I'll put the links at the bottom!) We're also making tissue paper flowers, which sounds a little odd, but they are really pretty. We're going to use orange and red and brown paper and hang them throughout the trees. We're also going to hang wreaths - we've got the brown ones that look like they're made of sticks (i'm not sure how else to describe them!) leftover from my wedding, and we'll probably just tie a bow with fall ribbon on put it at the top. We've got lots of fall leaf garland that we're going to put on the food table and gift tables, along with pine cones and acorns. I've seen it where people take a very light gold spray paint and spray the pine cones very lightly so they kind of shimmer. That's really pretty, too. We're also going to use raffia - I'm not sure how, but we will some how! I used it on the invitations, and it's so fall-ish, you know? We'll also probably hollow out some mini-pumpkins and put tea lights in them...gorgeous! We're probably going to sprinkle some leaves down the tables, too, along with acorns and pine cones.



I think we're going to have a diaper cake and diaper wreath decorated with fall stuff, as well.



We're going to be using paper plates, but the ones that are deeply saturated with color. We're going to be using large red plates, smaller brown plates, and orange or gold napkins. We'll use probably red and brown cups, and maybe red plasticware, I'm not sure. There are SO many possibilities for a fall shower...and I love, love, love it. Maybe it's because I love the fall so much! lol
