How old was your baby when he/she started holding their own bottle?

My son Wyatt is 7 months and he is starting to hold it by him self. Even though he holds it by him self, he hasnt got the hang of tilting it back so he can drink out of it.

Since we use NUK bottles I purchased a 5 ounce bottle with "handles". My son holds the handles really well. Most of the time he holds it up high enough to drink. Only sometimes he lets it rest on his chest and chews on the nipple.

My son started holding his bottle at 3 1/2 months, but then decided he couldn't anymore until recently he starting grabbing it from me and holding it himself again.

My daughter started putting her hands up to try and hold her own bottle at around 3 months. I don't think she fully knows what she is doing but it getting much much closer every time she is given a bottle but she is only 3 1/2 months now so not quite there yet.

My son holds his bottle sometimes starting at 6 1/2 months, but it sounds like the sippy cup may be a better option, so I am going to try this weekend.

My son wont hold his bottle whatsoever but he is a spoiled brat he knows mommy will hold it for him so he will eat so he doesnt even try lol. He will hold his sippy cup tho no probelm. Maricel my advice for you to encourage her to hold her bottle (even tho my LO wont) is hold it out in front of her and let her grab it herself then let go. she will figure out how to hold it and drink out of it herself if she wants to.

My son is 6 months and holds it sometimes and refuses other times. He doesn't always tip it enough when he is holding it.

My son too started holding his bottle at about 4 1/2 months, though he hasn't quite figured out to tilt it up far enough to get it out when it gets low.

Oliver rarely gets a bottle, but he started holding it for himself around 4 1/2 months (with a little bit of help) and now that he is 6 months he can hold it himself no problem.
