How many day naps does your 9mth old have? My son is harder to settle in the day he does get tired but won't always sleep unless in the car! He sleeps all night and has since 5wks. He settles easy at night and gets about 10-12hrs. So how many day sleeps do your bubs have?

My daughter wakes up at 8, then she is down for a nap at 10:30-12:30 then has lunch and plays till around 3-3:30 then she is out until around 5:30 for supper. Then down for bed at 8pm She has pretty much made this own schedule for herself since she was about 5 months. She is a very happy baby I might add. Always smiling, and laughing etc... even if she does miss a nap. I think she just realizes the day is different by going shopping with Mommy, or to an event of some sort, or a play date. Then once we're home, its eats and bed again. :)

My daughter is a good sleeper but has been since her second day with us! She slept 6hrs on her second night and nurse had to wake her up. Once home she only got up one a night and usually slept 8hrs. She now only takes one nap for between 1-2 then is away until bed time. Usually between 7:30-8:30 and sleeps atleast 12 hours. My son was kind of the same way but I think he was taking like two naps a day at this age. She just seems to be happy with one and as she is not my only one, I don't mind that she only has one.

My daughter only takes 2 naps a day which 1 if not both are only 30 mins long, I may get lucky and she'll sleep an hour for her morning nap, or she'll take a 3rd little cat nap if we go somewhere later on in the afternoon/ early evening hours, she'll sleep in the car, but thats only every once in a while. And then still, she doesn't go to sleep til 9. But we've also started letting her cry it out at night to go down for bed and naps and she is doing great with it now. She doesn't cry when she goes down at night and we started it less than a week ago. She was crying when we were holding and rocking her, so we'd figured if she was going to fight us like that for sleep it was time to start letting her cry it out. She's been sleeping better since then too when she used to wake up a lot at night!

Thats actually a hard question to answer. It is different every day of the week. But the same like every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc... But round about it is like 1 maybe 2 a day. He usually gets up about 8-9am. He has a nap around 1-2PM. Then he is up till 6-8 has a little nap, like 20mins, then is up till about 11pm-1Am, then sleeps through the night. But where I live, we have alot of family, so it is loud pretty much from 4-12pm. He is also a little more advanced for his age. But I think the average amount of naps for a 9 month old is 2 maybe 3 naps a day. Hope I helped.. :)

My son naps twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, usually for about an hour. And he sleeps 12-13 hours every night

He hasn't had a night feed as such since he was about 3 weeks old. We used to lift him at 10pm and give him a bottle. And slept thru 12 hrs from 13 weeks

Christina, I have to politely say that I disagree with the notion that it is right for everyone... as I am unable to keep my mouth shut (a flaw of mine). It may be you THINK she isn't hungry... but she just learned she was SOL at that time of day. Rowan doesn't always wake up anymore, and I disagree with the "soothing" thing some doctors are stuck on. A child of that age simply has a higher metabolism than us. That trick can actually slow it down (have been trying to hold tongue on that), and cause some weight problems later. If my son isn't hungry, the bottle is full (has only happened once or twice EVER) and so far, he is hungry and likes a full tummy to sleep. he finishes the bottle and sucks his thumb to "sooth" himself. I have had doctors try this with me... and they lost the argument. medical proffessional to medical proffessional... they lost. I will not do that to my son.

My daughter goes to bed at 9pm and wakes at 7:30am. She will go back down for a nap at 10am until 12pm then takes another nap around 4 or 5 that last about 1.5 hr. She sleeps all night and has since 6 months. She was just nursing or using her bottle to soothe herself back to sleep. Her dr told me that I needed to let her cry it out....so I did. It was so, so very hard! The first night she cried for 1hr and 45 min!! Her dr. said that if you pick them up then then you will ruin all the time you them there crying. I went in and checked on her after about 5 min the 10 min then every15 min until she feel back asleep. I of course made sure that she was not hungry or her diaper wasn't uncomfortibly wet. If it was I just changed her with the lights on very dim and didn't talk unless it was in a whisper. Everytime I would go in there I patted be on the bottom very gently and spoke to her in a very soft whisper and told her that it is time to sleep and I would see her in the morning. Like I said it was very hard!!! But, they shouldn't be hungry at that age and her dr kept telling me that. I had to wait to feel okay with it until she started solids. That's why I waited until 6months. Anyways the first night was so hard that I sat outside her door and was so upset but I was determined that we were going to do this!! The second night she woke up and cried for only 30 min! I couldn't believe it but even better then that the 3RD NIGHT SHE SLEPT ALL NIGHT!!! and, has ever since unless she was sick! I sware by it. Even though it may be very very hard...It works. You just have to go into it with a very determined attitude!! Even if you don't do that your baby will eventually sleep though the night! This has worked for me and every other mom I told it to as long as they were set on doing it. Just don't give in, but don't make them feel left, like you aren't coming back... just comfort them, let them know its time to sleep, and you will see them in the morning. Everyother mom I know that tried this their baby was sleeping all night within a week...Oh by the way I feed her dinner at 6 then a bottle at 8 bed at 9.

Make his dinner heavier, and wait until his body holds the food long enough to last through the night. If he's hungry at 3 am then then no amount of 'training' is going to change it. wait until he is ready. Ours wakes up around six am for a bottle and goes back out. It took work to turn twelve at night into six in the morning. We changed his bed-time to nine (diner at eight), a bath before bed (after diner), and a bottle to go down with (I care not what others say, it works and still no problems). We also put some infant cereal in that bottle. we can't 'make' our kids sleep through hunger. At this age some still have hunger pains. sometimes our starts giving other cues, but when he has hunger pains and if we don't listen or move too slow, it hurts his stomach and he cry's. Nothing but food helps hunger pains.

Henry takes two naps during the day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. He wakes up in the morning at about 6:45. I nurse him and give him some breakfast. He goes down for a nap between 9 and 9:30, depending on the day. He'll generally sleep for an hour or an hour-and-a-half. I nurse him again at 11:30 and give him lunch. We play or run errands, and he goes down for another nap at around 2:30. Again, he'll sleep for an hour or an hour-and-a-half. Nurse again at 5:30ish, then dinner. Into jammies at 7:45ish, storytime, nurse again, pray for Daddy (he's in Afghanistan), and into the crib.

He'll occasionally sleep for two hours, but that's really only during a growth spurt. Which is too bad--I love those long naps! :-)

I wish my daughter would sleep like yours or at least half. My daughter doesn't take big naps anymore only while in the car. And how ever long it lasts, it is long enough to charged her up with plenty of energy for several hrs. She sleeps a good 9hrs, but starting at 3am lol. My mother in law tells me that when kids are growing, they sleep more but still always check him frequently.

It depends on the baby. Each is different, but normally, 2 sleeps during the day and by 18months only, then one sleep per day ; )

2-3 naps a day... either (30) min naps at 9a, 12p and 3p or (1) hr naps at 10a and 2p. he sleeps from 7p to 7a. all of this has been on his own schedule and i just support what he has decided works for him. i don't believe in sleep training or anything like that. i just wrote down his schedule that seemed to work best for him and now i know how to plan our days and it works great!

My daughter takes 2 naps a day. She wakes at about 8am, first nap from 11am to about 1:30pm, second nap from 4 to 5pm and then goes to bed at 9pm. She usually wakes one time during the night, no matter how much food and milk she gets before bed. I try to not schedule anything for us to do during nap times, if we go anywhere she won't sleep as long in the car seat!

My daughter usually has 2 naps, one for about 2 hours and another for maybe an hour. However, since she has begun getting her first two teeth her sleep has been really messed up. She is extremley hard to get down at night, weather or not she has had naps during the day. And she doesnt sleep through the night anymore. Its interesting how each month seems to bring new factors when it comes to sleeping.

My son Braiden takes 2 naps a day. Depending on his mood though he will sometimes only take one really long on in the afternoon. My son gets up at 9:30-10:00 every morning has breakfast an morning bottle plays for a bit an then goes back to sleep at 12pm. Gets up has his lunch and afternoon bottle. Plays some more then crashes all on his own in his playpen at 3:30 till about 4:45-5pm. Get's up has dinner an goes about playing with his toys until 9-9:30pm Then he goes to bed.

My little guy has never been much of a napper. He goes to bed around 7:30, wakes up around 2am and then again between 6-7. He'll have 2-3 20 minute naps during the day but other than that he's going strong. I would love it if he would sleep more during the day (or slept through the night like he used to), but he really does not want to nap, and never did.

No it gets difficult for me cuz my partner does night shift and sleep until just after lunch. I don't want him to wake up grumpy so Harley is that outta the habit of sleeping in his coy during the day. He just screams and cries usually. It's tricky. But once he starts
walking he might just get that tired he'll pass out anywhere, I'm hoping

Chassidy, what time are you putting Addison to bed? I know when i was experimenting with bed times for Liam, if he went to bed more than half an hour either side of 8.00pm (before 7.30 or after 8.30) he would wake up during the night, but between those times he would sleep 12 hours. I also noticed that when i fed him his tea to close to bedtime he wouldnt sleep through, but he does like being full, just milk full not food full. Its a lot of trial and error really, each baby is different, what works for one doesnt work for another.

Its been a really hot day here today and it was quite hard to get him down at bedtime, we did our usual thing, and he just didnt want to sleep, he was getting himself all worked up and hot & bothered, so i gave him his sippy full of water, he skulled about half of it (75mls) and fell straight to sleep (like he was drunk). He's never done that before, i just hope he stays asleep with the heat, but with all that water he had he might wake up a bit wet.

Chloe, it does drive you batty sometimes doesnt it, because you know if they would just sleep they wouldnt be so cranky. At least he is having a big sleep of a night. Have you tried putting him in his cot and sitting on the floor next to him, and holding his hand or stroking his head through the bars?

Yeah it drives me crazy though cuz he gets wingy n tired but he fights it so much n then gets
cranky :-( my mum thinks he's the best baby though and I guess he is pretty good really!

Wow I don't have an suggestions I don't know what works a big bottle before bed making sure she is full.. Once they get into that habit I can imagine it
would be hard to get them out of it! Good luck something will work out :-)

So much sleep has its downside, im actually try to get him to be awake a bit more. The doctor said I was crazy because I was concerned that he slept too much, he was pretty much only awake to change his nappy and eat his food 5 out of 7 days. Ive atleast got him to be awake more now, but if I wake him up, or dont put him down for these sleeps he wont sleep at night, and hes a little monster. It makes it hard sometimes to go grocery shopping or to appointments.I definitely wouldnt worry about Harley, he is having his full night sleep, and a little nap. He might just want to be up and about with mum during the day.

Chloe - posted on 11/21/2010

Wow he's a very good sleeper the fact that Harley has never been much of a sleeper isn't very convincing that he will ever be. He fights it too much :-) maybe once he starts walking and uses the energy he might just pass out! But your babys sleeping pattern sounds very nice. People just tell me as long as he's sleeping all night and having a little nap not to worry about it too much!

Liam has 2-3 (depends on how long his first two sleeps during the day were.)
On a normal day he gets up at 7.30am, has his breakfast, goes back down around 8.30am until 11.30am, then he has his dinner at 12.30 and goes back down about 1.30pm until 4.30pm, has his tea at 5pm and plays around for a couple of hours, then has a bottle to go to bed at 7.30pm. So he has 2 x 3 hour naps during the day, but on the odd occassion he doesnt sleep that long, so after his tea he might have 30min to an hour nap. He loves his sleep.

My nephew didnt sleep much during the day we would lay down on the floor, and we'd read a book. Even if he wasn't sleeping, he was still resting, and some times he would fall asleep.
