My baby is only about 15 lbs and eats 4 jars of food a day and 20 oz of breastmilk a day.. so Tina, your baby's weight seems fine to me since he weighs more than my little girl.. I only bottle feed through so I can't help you with the breastfeeding thing eventhough my baby gets all breastmilk I've just pumped it into bottles from the beginning since she wouldn't latch on, so I don't know how to tell if your baby is getting enough, but if he is waking up to eat in the middle of the night, then he isn't getting enough during the day...

i am really stressed after reading all of your posts.......coz it seems like my baby just doesn't eat nething!! i have never given him a bottle, so he won't take one now.......he drinks breastmilk wenevr he wakes up in the night.....i have no idea how much.....i just latch him on and sleep :D.....and we have a horrible schedule, we wake up around 10 am and sleep at around 12 am.......but i cant help it coz he's troubled with gas every night from birth :( and i need my sleep too, coz theres so much to do in the day with the baby...........and i have to be rested........so neways......he drinks a lil milk before waking up at around 10 am, then i give him steamed and pureed apple, or half a banana at 12: 30 pm, he hardly finishes it, then at 3 :30 pm i give him pureed vegetables, he eats some 3 oz of it, at 6:30 pm he has 100 ml of yogurt or 3 oz of custard, at 9:30 pm he drinks 4 oz milk mixed with 2 glucose biscuits.........its only during the afternoon nap that he drinks a some breastmilk.........and no formula at all.......can neone please tell me if this is enuf? my dr says its fine as long as he is active. he weighs around 9 kgs........i don't know if it is because of this that he does not sleep well in the night........he takes two half hour naps and one 2 hrs nap in the day...........it will be great if neone can help :)

My daughter was born Feb 5th, 2010 and she is barely drinking any of her milk. She is getting breastmilk still and she could really care less about getting it. I try to give her more and she only takes about 4 and MAYBE 5 oz at a time. Her schedule is:
6:30-7:00 Wake up and 5 oz bottle w/ cereal
8:30 jar fruit (stage 2)
9:30-11:00 nap
11:00 4 oz bottle
12:30 jar veggie (stage 2) & juice in sippy cup
2:00 4 oz bottle
2:30-3:30 nap
5:00 5 oz bottle
6:30 jar of fruit & jar of veggie & juice in sippy cup
8-8:30 3-6 oz depending on how hungry or tired she is
8:30-9:00 bedtime
But our problem is, I think she is more hungry than that, but that is all she takes and she's fine all day long, as happy as can be, never fussing for food and I try to give her more milk at her feedings, but she just doesn't want it. But she wakes up soo much in the middle of the night now and sometimes its just to get a little snack and it drives me nuts that I cant get her to take it during the day, but she just doesnt want it and its not like I can force it on her, but shes crazy active and happy as can be during the day.. so who knows...

my daughter was born feb 4...seems like she is eating absolutly nothing compared to other babies her age,she is extreamly active, but she will not take more then a 4oz bottle ever..maybe that could be why she is not sleeping..??..but she will not take more any suggestions on eating and sleeping??

My little one is 7.5 months old and eats three big meals of organic fruits and veggies that I puree for her in bulk once a week. She is allowed whatever soft fruits and veggies she asks for throughout the day. She gets 1 8oz soy formula bottle at bedtime and nurses 4x a day or whenever she wants! She weighs in at 21.5 pounds (95th percentile!) and is meeting her milestones ahead of schedule!

My son, born Feb 26th 2010, is pretty much eating the same as most mom's have posted here.. Rice or Oatmeal cereal with baby food fruits or veggies 3x a day with formula in the am right away, one mid afternoon, and one at bedtime. (approx 6 oz each). He is a great eater, and is very happy and been very healthy so far. I do wonder if he gets enough liquids though with just the 18-24 oz of formula a day. Any thoughts???

Hi, my son was born on 15 Feb and is taking about 24 ozs a day, I asked his Health Visitor about his milk intake and she said that as long as he's drinking about 600 mls/20 ozs a day that's plenty for his age and he will start to drink less as he eats more, it's more for thirst now so as long as he's eating plenty he's fine. I quite happy with this advice as my son loves his grub and is thriving, he's already wearing 9 - 12 month clothes so by no means starving and sleeps 12 hrs!

7.30 am - 4 oz bottle

8 am - porridge (made with 4 ozs)

12 noon - jar of food & a yogurt, 4 oz bottle

4 pm - jar of food & 1/2 jar of dessert, 4 oz bottle

7.30 pm - 8 oz bottle

My son has a 6 oz bottle around 9, and cereal around 9:30, then he has a veggie around 1, and another 6 oz bottle around 1:30, then a jar of meat around 5:30 and another 6 oz bottle around 6, then at bedtime, around 9, he has an 8 oz bottle with two teaspoons of rice cereal. He sleeps between 10 and 12 hours. Also, if I am eating durning the day, he snacks on puffs, or small pieces of bread or fruit. I always give him little bites of what I am eating, my husband hates it. He says it looks like he is a dog begging for food!! He will sit on the floor staring at us with his mouth in a chewing motion. He even gets so excited he might get something, he does this panting thing!! He has no teeth yet, but gums everything. I am thinking of switching completely to table food soon! He loves it!

My daughter was born Feb. 12, 2010 and has about 26-32oz of formula a day. Around 8:30 for breakfast I rotate days between the banana oatmeal, mixed fruit rice ceareal, or an 8oz bottle. I mix her cereal/oatmeal with 3oz of formula. At 11:00 she gets an 8oz bottle before her nap. At 1:30 she gets 6oz of home-made pureed veggies and 3-4oz of fruit for dessert. At 4:00 she gets another 8oz bottle before her second nap. She gets dinner around 6:30, the same as lunch. Then an 8oz bottle before bed at 9:00. (for her bottles I put 7oz water and then add the 3 1/2 scoops which makes it 8oz.) I'm always worried I'm feeding her too much because she is eating every 2 1/2 hours, but it seems to be what everyone else is doing too. And, for them to get the right amount of formula (24-40oz) and eat solids and still squeeze the cereal in their eating schedule, it seems to be the only way to do it.

My little guy is eating way more than these posts so far! He eats 7 oz about every 3 hours starting at 6:30 am. He eats around 3, then again at 4:30, so we can feed him his bed time bottle about 7:15. That bed time bottle is 8 oz. He eats baby food 3 times a day. He's quite a little eater. But he sleeps great because he gets plenty of calories during the day. On weekends he sleeps in, so he is sleeping from about 7:30 - 8-8:30 am.

He eats pretty much what I make for dinner...if I bake chicken i cut it up really tiny, I just buy regular canned veggies (they are softer) and he eats them, even with no teeth! The doc said they don't need teeth to be able to chew and she was right! If we make pasta, i keep his plain or with light sauce, and just cut it up very small. He hated me feeding him the baby food jars of things, so we just moved on!

Hi! My little guy turned 7 months on the 5th. He is drinking about 26 oz. of formula a day. He has 6 oz when he wakes up around 6 am. He eats cereal with fruit for breakfast. He has a 5 oz. bottle around 9. He has a veggie and some "table food" for lunch. He has another 5 oz. bottle around 1 and a 4 oz. bottle around 4:30. He eats what we are eating for dinner, and has a 4-5oz bottle before bed at 7. Hope this helps!
