Hello everyone. I have a 6 week old baby boy who has diarrhea. Is it ok to give him pedialyte?
Does anyone have suggestions?

I'm curious as to what you mean by diarrhea. Infant poop is so loose already- I had always heard that breast milk and formula is all baby should be drinking/eating until 4 months. Did you put a call in to your pediatrician? If he really does have diarrhea at this young age they can get dehydrated very quickly.

My doc said at that age only give about 1 ounce maybe 3 times a day and no longer than a week. But that was to break up the thick throw up my little girl was going through. I don't know about diarrhea.

my daughter had diarrhea for about a week when she was four weeks old. side affect from a penicillin shot for strep, anywho the dr said it was ok for to give her 2oz of pedialyte twice a day. It worked fine with her.

Hi, my son is just recovering from severe diarrhea. The dr said it was ok to give him pedialyte. He was 7 weeks when he got sick. It would keep him hydrated due to all the nutrients they loose. Hope he gets better son!

I would. My son was 7 weeks old when his pediatrician told me to give him pedialyte. I didn't need to use it before then, but he assured me it is as safe for infants as toddlers or even adults. He suggested the unflavored kind so he still eats his veggies fine when it's time for that though.
