Is my son' weight on track?

The best idea is to keep track of his weight and height using a growth chart. They will tell you how on a par he is but don't just look at his weight on these charts. The most important thing is weight for length. Also, note that his trend is important. My son was 30th percentile weight for length when he was born but by 4 months was 50th percentile weight for length which means his weight is increasing more than his height and I need to watch it a little. Try not to stress too much about it any way you call it though...and follow your doctor's lead. Here's a link to a good growth chart/calculator: http://medcalc.com/growth/

it all depends on how much he weighed when he was born babies follow a weight path and as long as they are following that then they are ok and based on his length he sound like he is good and if the doctor says hes good then i wouldn't worry

All babies are built differently and I know my doctor says that as long as they make a nice curve on the percentile chart and don't drop more than one line they are doing fine. My daughter was 9 lbs 9 oz at birth and at 5 months was 15 lbs 7 oz and 25 1/2 inches. Whereas my friends baby was 7 lbs 6 oz at birth and at 5 months was nearly 20 lbs! They're all different and if your doctor says your baby is growing fine, he probably is. It's easy to say don't worry, but as mothers it's impossible not too!
My Maggie weighed more at 5 months than my first daughter, Norah, did at 9 months. They're just built diffrently. I joke that in a year or two they'll be sharing clothes! I also wanted to say that I nearly smacked some lady in the face today for her veiled rude comment. I used to work with her and she hadn't seen my baby yet. Her first comment was, "Well, looks like she's getting enough to eat..." Sounds harmless enough, but her tone was totally condescending and I know she didn't mean it as a positive thing. What a bag! Many adults have different builds, so it's only natural that babies be built differently too. I personally LOVE chubby babies... I could just squeeze their little rolly legs forever! Keep feeding that boy and doing what you're doing!

My son is 6 mths. old and his last appt 2 wks ago he weighed 14 lbs. 7 oz. and 25 in. long and his doc told me they preferred to see chubby babies at that age, so your son sounds like he's doing great and I wouldn't worry what other ppl think. No matter how much my son seems to eat he is just very lean, my daughter was the same way, even now.

My daughter is 5 months old, weighs 19 lbs and is 30" long. The doctor was worried she wasn't gaining enough weight, he said it should be 1 - 1 1/2 pounds/month. But she had just hit a huge growth spurt. She was 11 lbs 5 oz at birth.

i wouldn't worry. at 5 months my son was almost 19lbs, and my dr said he was fine at the weight he was at. i was concerned about it cause he ate all the time & weighed so much more then my friends babies that were the same age. she told me not to worry, let him eat when he is hungry & once he is moving the weight will go away anyways. no such thing as a fat baby :)

Don't listen to other people. If your baby is eating well, has appropriate wet and poopy diapers, and is plotting well on the growth chart, which your doctor reviews at each visit, then there shouldn't be any issues. My daughter at 4 months was weighing 15lb 9 oz and only 24 3/4 inches, she's a chubby baby, but so was my son. Never an issue with the doc and my son is not overweight at 6 yrs of age. I'm confident my daugther will follow that path. Not all babies are the same, so I wouldn't listen to the naysayers.

wow.. you have a healthy baby who definitely feeds enough.. you should be very proud. And if your dr says it is good then you should definitely believe it, are you breast feeding because breast fed babies do weigh alot more than average because average goes by bottle fed babies, if your baby is BF he is very healthy and the weight should start averaging out soon if not already.. don't stress, beefy babies are great.. My daughter is very chubby aswell.

My baby is will be 6 months old on the 3 of August and he weights 21 lbs and 25 inches long and he was also a preemie i dont take him back to the doc util the 16th of august but all along my doc has been telling me his weight and height is perfect so i think that just depends on the doctor he will be fine and probably thin out when he begins to crawl

don't stress, my son is 26.4 inches long & weighs 19.1 lbs & his pediatrition & GP are happy with his weight. He was born at 10lbs so he has always been a bigger boy but i have never been told he is too heavy. I, personally, would rather my bub have a little bit of extra weight anyway because if they get sick they can loose so much weight so fast. trust ur instincts, he will only eat as much as he needs as babys that age don't know how to over eat. i hope this helped ease ur mind

I do not think he weighs too much. My daughter is 5 months and she weighs about 14 pounds and 25 inches long. But I have many friends who have kids that are younger than her but weigh like 5-6 pounds more than my daughter. So I think your son is right on track.
