My 14-month old baby girl weighs 30 pounds. Is that normal?

You made me feel really good by seeing this, i felt like i was the only one feeling like this my daughter is 14 months old and ways about 29 lbs and is extremley tall! the doctors are always saying she is off the chart but you know something us as mothers have to realize they will grow into their bodies we cant not feed them because were worried about their weight besides chubby babies are the best and jus be thankful shes healthy! God Bless you and your little one i feel so much better to know im not the only one!

Let your child take the lead on eating, they will grow into the body they are meant to have. Worrying now and making a big deal could create issues later on. Enjoy. My daughter was sent to the pediatrician because she was not gaining enough weight and the doctor was not worried at all. Offer nutritious meals and let your baby do the rest. My daughter is also way off the scale for her height, she is extremely tall. On the other side, my son was 11 pounds at birth and now is just average ...... trust in your baby, they will do what is right for their little bodies!

Don't worry NOW. My daughter was also very very chubby like yours, but when she started going to daycare and then school, she just started getting taller but not gaining any weight. I thought she had a problem with her thyroids because like yourself, i thought she wasnt eating enough to be chubby like that. My daughter is 4 years old now and she is just fine. She isnt skinny but she isnt fat either. I guess she is average. She is 36 in tall and weights 31 pounds. I am not tall and i am also average weight, and have always been average. If you are not a very thin thin person, your daughter might not be either.

my baby is very tall on the 98th centile and is 25 lbs and 14 months! hes a bit of a string though!

27 LBS at 14 months here, so maybe even 28 now that shes almost 15 months. The doctors or nurses asked me what it is I do, and I told them shes become picky with her eating. The doctor asked how many drinks I give and I guess that was the main problem. I was giving way too many drinks. I had no idea drinks would cause a weight issue. I was told to cut her back to 3 drinks a day, 2 cups of milk and 1 juice. Water in between.
Our very first pediatrician told us that he normally doesnt worry about a toddlers weight until they turn 2. If they are still that big by the age of 2, then they may start with the nutritional education.
I don't see it as a problem anymore now. Since shes been running around the house, I have seen her legs slim up and that cute little bubble of chub she had for knees actually look like real knees now. She still has rolls on her upper arms, but I slowly see them getting smaller as well. This is the age when they pretty much start running it off.

My daughter is 33 lbs and tall also. Most people think she is older then what she actually is so we have a problem of them thinking she is very behind until I explain. Kids grow at their own pace. I am happy overall that she is larger then the others bc if she gets sick I don't seem to worry as much bc she isn't tiny :)

lol yep my daughter is 30lbs too I'm not worried about her weight because its all gonna come off when she starts running. Plus flab looks cute on babies:) as long its not 40-50 lbs. You have nothing to worry about.

My son is now 31lbs, he was 10lb 7oz born, he's just started to slow down with his weight now that he is more and more active each day. I wouldn't worry about it too much, my sons legs are extremely chubby and i do worry if he will be like this all the time, but the more they do the less they put on! My son is also very tall for his age, measuring in at 2foot 9 at the mo! Both me and his daddy are tall and i was a big baby when i was born too, and now i'm a size 10 so i think he'll just follow in our footsteps, and grow in height rather than in weight! 30 lbs for a 1 yr old is pretty good my daughter was about that weight when she was almost 1 and half your doc should be able to tell you but my doc says under two their weight doesnt matter unless they are significantly under or over by 10 or more lbs my son is 27 lbs so around 30 is fine. and the more she is active the better metabolism and better health she will have just make sure she eats balanced meals and you wont have a problem once she shoots up in height her chubbiness will eventually go away my daughter was a chunk and now she is so thin i get worried about it but her weight is there and everything

I wouldn't worry, my son is also 30lbs and 13 months old. The bonus about having a hefty child is that it they get sick and don't eat they are just fine. As long as they are drinking lots of fluids while they are sick. All kids are different and some are light weights and others like ours are larger. I allow my son to eat when ever he is hungry, he knows best. As long as your child is healthy and happy, they will be just fine and grow into his/her weight.
