Im having a hard time feeding my daughter on a spoon with cereal. She will take a bottle just fine with cereal in it, but not with a spoon. I tried to give it flavor and added apples to it. But she still doesn't seem to like it much.

Any ideas would be great on this!.

I give her at least 4 cereal bottles a day and a few with no cereal in it. and just started apples 3 days ago.

I found that I made the rice cereal too thin. If I made it a thicker consistency, my baby ate it alot better. I make it pretty thick and add a fruit to make it taste better. Also try oatmeal instead of rice cereal. Maybe your baby will like the taste better

I would be very cautious about adding any salt. If they get that taste for salt early they may grow up needing that taste to eat and add too much salt to their foods. If they develop such a "need" for salt they are far more likely to develop problems with high blood pressure, heart disease, etc... and these problems may start as a child then instead of an adult. If you are going to add any season, choose one like cinnamon or something salt free! Always try just a little and make that the only new food for about 72 hrs to check for allergies.

We never put cereal in the bottle, only fed it from a spoon. Experiment with a variety of thicknesses to see if that helps. We also use small rubber coated spoons-a spoon that is too big could be uncomfortable for their mouth. With our little guy too we open our mouth when he should be opening his and then act like we are chewing when he should be chewing. I'm sure we look fairly ridiculous when doing this, but he will actually mimic what we are doing. This may help for you too! Good luck.

if it was me i would not give so many bottles with cereal in it---and let her get hurgry b4 u try feeding her from a spoon--she will get it--but if she not 6months yet then dont push the issue---all babys push food back out of there mouths--if this is ur issue then just take ur time and feed her---but if she just wont open her mouth than just let her get hurgry and she will eat---o and leave the spoon in her mouth dont rake it into it--let her kinda suck it off that will help her get it faster.....

MAYBE YOU NEED TO TRY ANOTHER TYPE OF SPOON CAUSE I KNOW MY SON WAS VERY PICKY ABOUT THAT OR MAYBE SHES JUST NOT READY TO TAKE IT FROM A SPOON YET

I was reading in What to expect the First Year today. I was reading about the 5th month because that's where we are right now. it talked about starting solids. It pretty much said that the rice cereal is mostly for practice eating off a spoon more than nutrition. The nutrition comes later with the real foods. Just keep at it. It should click sometime. They have to learn to eat off a spoon sometime, right? Sometimes my girls completely refuse to eat off a spoon, so i stop and just start again at the next cereal feeding. i have also heard that if you feed cereal in the bottle only, then it will be harder to start with the spoon because they know they can get it easier in the bottle.

sometimes it's the actual spoon, my daughter will not eat off of spoons coated with rubber, they have to be plastic or she won't eat, it could also just be her getting use to it since they have to move their tongues differently when they eat cereal that way

Sometimes it's a texture or thickness thing with the baby. Try to mix the cereal with the formula/breast milk as close as possible to the consistency of the bottles you give. Also my son had a hard time learning to eat off a spoon so i would put the food on a spoon & put the spoon in his mouth then stick the bottle in so he would swallow. He figured it out eventually. I also read sometimes you have to give baby foods up to 10x's before they really decide if they like them or not.

Did you give her cereal in a bottle before you gave it to her on a spoon? I know that with some babies (like my nephew) decided that he was only going to take cereal from a bottle because that is how his mom first gave it to him.
