i never give my kids viatmins or flouride. I gave my daughter flouride when she was 3 for a week and i started it after her dentist appointment ( she has been going since her first tooth) and gave her flouride for a week then she was complaining about her teeth were hurting she ended up having a start of a cavitity then i stopped and her tooth got stronger and everything was fine. now she is five and is rarely sick and still not having any cavities but my friends give their kids flouride and they all have fillings and crowns. I just dont let my kids drink soda and eat a lot of junk then brush 3 times a day with a flouride toothpaste like and adult one and floss once per day and swish with that restoring mouthwash and then when it comes to the whole vitamin things i just give protien and let them in the sun outside and they get thier vitamins from food and the sun and if their iron is low or you notice they are bruising give them purple grape juice diluted of course for the young ones and that is fine. of course kids are different but i believe strongly in they didnt have it way back then and survived why do we need it now as far as vitamins and that goes the more natural the better i guess. and fast food is way bad for everyone i gained almost 200 lbs off of it now i am losing it and not eating it has been the best for my kids they are always wanting veggies anyway but doing the fast food they always complained about feeling tired so try not to do the fast food unless of course you are very busy. so try those things maybe they will work for you too

my oldest was prone to fevers and colds often. so i used to give a natural immune system boosting syrup from elderberrys called sambucol. `i get it from my nature shop(organic store). Now since my second one(turned 1 last week) has also been in daycare for a while and is getting colds ans fevers often.. i am going to start on that for him too. my 4 year old has been taking multivitamins since he was 2.

Baby vitamins are great for growing healthy kids :) Shaklee has a multivitamin/mineral powder that you can mix in with your babes food to give her the extra vitamins that may be lacking in the diet. The truth about fruits and veggies these days is they are not as nutritionally dense as in prior decades due to farmers not resting their fields. Supplementing is thus important to bridge the gap for fullness in our nutrition. Hope that helps :)

You can find the multivitamin/mineral baby powder from the link below:

Doctors typically have very different opinions on vitamins. Ultimately, it is YOUR decision and your ped. can only give you suggestions. My daughter (1 on 2/5) JUST finished breast feeding, but has been eating solids for 5-6 months and started drinking whole milk a few weeks before I started weaning her. She has a terrific diet, very healthy, and I know she is getting all the nutrients she needs from her food and from the milk. Because of this, we made the decision not to start her on vitamines. I talked with her doctor about that and he agreed with me that the vitamins really will not do anything really good for her since she's already getting what she needs from the food she eats. But like I said, opinions are very different. This is IN, but last year we lived in CA and our ped. there said they tell every parent to do vitamins regardless of diet, etc. That said, my 2 1/2 year old daughter does take vitamins daily, as do my husband and I. We started her when she began to be more of a picky toddler eater instead of gobbling up everything in sight! You know your child best, better than your doctor does... it is your decision, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to see what the ped. recommends and go from there.

Always consult her pediatrician first. I gave my 6 month old vitamins (polivisol) and he ended up getting brown spots on his teeth. They went avaw eventually after months but if she is getting her vitamins from formula and food it should be ok. Good luck!

My dr recommended the Poly Vi Sol when our daughter was born. We bought it and gave it to her a couple times but unfortunately, I'm not the greatest at keeping up with that stuff. :(
That is the only vitamin I've heard specifically recommended for babies.

I was told by my pediatrician that babies that are getting breast milk only should be getting vitamins. My boys have been getting the Poly Vi Sol with Iron daily since they were a month old. You should ask your pediatrician about it since they know your child well and can give you the most solid advice.

I only give my son vitamins if he is sick or me and my hubby is sick other wise he gets most of his vitamins thru is food and formula.
