Hi,
I breastfeed my 8 week old LO, but I pump so I can let my husband feed her. I have been using the top rack of the dishwasher to wash her bottles. I have heard some people say that you shouldn't use the dishwasher. What are your thoughts and any facts will be helpful.

I wash mine in the dishwasher and then sterilize in the microwave. I don't always get them sterilized every time but it is my goal. I have a box of those steamer bags you can use 20 times in the microwave. They work well and for the most part, all the water spots are off when they dry where as the dishwasher leaves water spots.

I put the bottles in the dishwasher but I clean the teats and lids buy hand and then put them in sterilizer

I use the top rack only in the dishwasher, but I always make sure that any other dishes that are in there are clean of anything that could ruin the nipples: spaghetti sauce, ketchup etc... it can stain the nipples and make them gross looking. Also after I use the dishwasher I will boil her nipples for 5 minutes on the stove for sterilizing. I use playtex drop in system, so I don't have to constantly wash the bottles, just nipples. If you use a different kind of bottle then I'd be careful of boiling the bottles because depending on what kind of plastic it is they can melt. My mom melted a couple of my bottles. But nipples should be fine to boil as needed.

I also pump at least one bottle a day, my daughter is 10 weeks old and I have had no problems using the top rack in the dishwasher to wash the bottles, except that some of the designs on her "pretty" bottles are starting to get rubbed away.

I bottle feed my first and we used the top rack no problems the other thing you can do is get a bottle sterilser you put hot water into the dish put the bottles on the rack put the lid on then stick it in the micowave they are sold at walmart and target like $20 or cheaper

i used the dishwasher once and it ruined my bottle but maybe it depends on the dishwasher or tablets etc.. i prefer to stick to my good old steriliser just to be sure

It depends what setting you use. I have heard that you can use the dishwasher to wash and sterilise bottles if you have the temp on high.
