What do you do to make yourself feel better?

I love my 2 boys (2 years and 4 months) and I don't begrudge any of the time I spend on them, day and night, but I sometimes feel really depleted. We have no family nearby, and my friends are all mums with same age children, so even though they want to give me time out by looking after my kids for a while, between the various naptimes, mealtimes, bedtimes and illnesses, it never really works out. I did try occasional care for my older son but it didn't work out either and I don't think he's quite ready for that yet. So I was just wondering what do you guys do to make yourselves feel better, to give yourself a little lift? At the moment I am relying on chocolate a bit too much...

I went online and checked around town on good mother's day out programs in the area. Check your loacl churches... most of them have a reasonable mother's day out program where you can take your kids 3 or even just 2 times a week from 4 hours to 8 full hours! I know you said that your 2 year old isn't ready for daycare, but it's actually a really good thing. It teaches him to mingle with other kids and get used to schooling. It's hard at first (he won't like it for the first week or 2) but he will love it! His talking will improve and he will start learning new things, plus it will give you some free time to take care of business or get that manicure that one lady was talking about. You can't really get a manicure with kids on your hip! It's a good way for him to go part time to a daycare and get him warmed up to it! Mother's Day out is just a basic part time daycare program. Just call around and use the internet to find them... they are everywhere!

Mother's Day out programs!!! They are usually cheap and affortable... some churches even provide good deals for single parents... try it out!!! That will give you some time to yourself 2 or 3 times a week and you can do what you need to do!! :)

I am a solo mum of four ages 13, 11, 3 and 4mths. Tryin to fit in 'me time' can be quite difficult at times but when the opportunity arises, you have to grab it cos it might not come again for a while! Im fortunate to have family close by but still try and do things on my own. I feel for you, it can be quite draining. The time I find best is when they are in bed (granted there is the possibility that you may be needed by one of them, but not as much as if they were awake lol). I like to put on some of MY music (lol!) and give myself some maintenance like doing my nails, eyebrows, etc.Or get some uninterrupted time with a movie of MY choice (YAY!!) Read a book. Take a bath with a few candles lit (MMMM!!) maybe even some bubbles. I like setting up a wee table next to the bath with a few treats I dont have to share hehe, it feels indulgent and lovely (even a lil naughty cos you feel sneaky lol) to have a wee bowl of grapes or crackers, a choc bar, a drink of your choice that you can have all to yourself!! Having a bath can be risky - cos you may have to jump out to attend to one of the kids - but totally worth it HAHAHA. Its actually the simple things you miss so think about something YOU like doing and try and see if you can fit it in somehow. All the best =)
