I usually give him the second half around his lunch time just in case he gets a tummy ache so it won't interrupt his sleeping but no he doesn't sleep through the night. He used to lol

So I know my doctor said to start Joshua on vegetables. He will be 6 months old on August 11th. My question is, if I'm giving him a formula bottle (4 oz) with 3 teaspoons of cereal in it every four hours, how much baby food should I be giving him? I've been giving him half a jar twice a day, but I'm not sure if it's enough. I know it isn't too much because he keeps it down, is actually spitting up less than before and has no problems with is bowels. At his last wellcheck he weighed 13.13 lbs (which was on June 15th) if that matters. I just want to know if I should increase the solid food intake; I don't want to starve my baby!

single grain cereals that way if he has a reaction you know what it's to which you wouldn't if it was a multi grain. Some examples are rice oatmeal and barley. My daughter was born on Feb 19th and at her well baby appointment on July 9th the doctor said that she should be eating fruits and vegetables (at the same time because fruits are more flavorful and you don't want them to be unreceptive to the veggies!) as long as she still drinking at least 30 oz a day. Again always do single veggies and fruits when trying something new! Also just a piece of advice my daughter didn't like certain tastes at first because they were different but I kept trying and she did a lot better with them so don't give up the first time around.

make sure you ask your pediatrician if he/she thinks your baby is ready for solids before you start!
i started my daughter with rice cereal and oatmeal until she got the hang of eating from a spoon before moving on to veggies. my doctor recommended starting with vegetables before fruits that way she doesn't expect all food to be sweet and for some reason he said to start with orange veggies before green. so far she's had butternut squash and carrots and will have sweet potatoes for the first time today. she wasnt a huge fan of the rice cereal, but has loved everything else!

Started with rice cereal which he still gets in all of his bottles, but he also loves bananas, sweet potatoes, sweet peas, and carrots and tolerates the green beans and butternut squash.

My daughter hated the rice cereal unless i put it into her bottles. We started with applesauce and she liked that and now onto sweet potatoes and she loves those to!

I first tried Liam with rice cereal and he hated it. So I was told to try him with puree'd fruits or vegies. Its best to try them on one thing at a time, and for atleast 4 days to see if they are going to have a reaction to the food. So far he's loved everything he has eaten, and has taken it with no problem, however he has had a contact skin reaction with oats.
