Why is my baby always sick?

My 9month old son is always sick. I cannot even remember the last time he didn't have a runny nose or a cough. I am wondering if any one knows the symptoms of allergies to animals or mold? He is getting his 8th tooth in but I'm not sure that is the reason he would be sick. I just feel really bad for him. And does any one know how they test infants for allergies? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

My 9 months old daughter is always sick. AT first I thought it was because she is very oral and everything ends up in her mouth, and she goes to daycare. If I have her home for a day or two she seem to get better but i send her back to daycare and it gets worse. I took her to the dr and he said just give her the Qpad (like tylenol to reduce fever and for comon cold aches) She has a runny nose and today I noticed the eyes are now running. She has conjestion on her chest but she is coughing it up. Sometimes she cough so hard she throws up if she just ate. I feel aweful. She has only two teeth so far and the others are taking their sweet time to pop up. I am very very concerned about the possibility of asthma. I wish there was something more I could do to help her

I have the exact same thing going on with Jesse he's been sick now for the past month i've taken him to the doctor twice now and the first time they told me to elevate his bed and put a humidifier and vixs vaporizer in his room so that will help him breath at night and it helped but then it came back and we went back to the dr and he said that he had rsv which he says can cling to the baby and it is really hard to get over. Maybe you could have them run that test, its really simple and doesn't draw blood or hurt them any. I hope my comment helped
i hope your son gets better soon!!!!

I understand. My almost 9 months old baby girl has had a runny nose for about 3 months now. She also has a cough, but it's a "broken up sounding cough" which the dr. said is good, it's the "dry" cough they worry about. My little one is in daycare 3 days a week, and the dr. said that she probably gets rid of one cold, and then another one is starting, so that's why we never see an end to the runny nose, etc..Sighs...I too, feel so bad for her. She is also teething, and finally her bottom 2 teeth just started to pop through! They are not in fully, but you can see them now and are like little snow caps. The dr. did say that teething can cause a cough and also congestion due to the extra saliva.

Not sure about the allergy thing you are wondering about. I would ask your pediatrician about it next time you see him/her.
Good luck!

As far as I know they use blood tests to determine allergies. Sorry about your son, that must be awful to see him sick all the time. I hope you can get a diagnosis and successful treatment soon.

even if the doctor says you have to wait until after they stop teething, you can try and request singular which is an allergy med that helps kids with asthma. My son was on it as a controller for his asthma and that alone could help some. I am not sure how old you have to be to start it, but it is not something that is going to hurt him.

My son was sick ALL the time until the age of one when he was diagnosed with asthma. They put him on all types of meds to get it under control and from then on he has not been sick. And about a year ago I began weening him off the meds and now he is off all of them. But when he even gets a little cough (which is very RARE) I hit him with all the meds and it only lasts 2-3 days and he is better. I would look into it because I felt helpless for the first year until he began the meds and now at 4 it is under control and he is off all meds and hardly ever sick. The doctor said that because of the asthma he was never fully getting better, so he stayed sick. I hope this is helpful.
