Why isn't my 7 month old crawling yet??? Maybe my fault???

my daughter will be 8 months old on the 19 and is not crawling yet either she sits up really well but when on her back she doesn't roll over yet, she will be on her tummy and scoot in a circle and reach for toys but doesn't get in a crawling position yet i as well am worry i pick her up too much so i'm trying to leave her on the floor and let her play more and i try to encourage her to come close to me, but nothing yet...

My baby girl just turned 8 months old and she isn't crawling either. Every baby is different, I wouldn't worry too much!

I would occasionally let her get a little frustrated if she is trying to reach for a toy, don't let her cry, but a little fussing to give her some "motivation" to get the toy could help her loco-motor skills a little bit! (I've been trying this with Kylie and I see a little bit of progress here and there.)

my son will be 8 months old in 4 days and he just decided to start scooting all over the place last week. he just decided randomnly one morning to do so. he was very very fussy when he was on his belly before then, he wanted to go somewhere but couldnt. if i were u, just wait it out, she'll start getting around when she is ready, just be patient with her. she's the boss right now. but don't have ur mind set on her crawling.. sometimes they don't crawl at all, sometimes they just go straight from sitting up to standing to walking, skipping the scooting or crawling altogether. good luck!! :)

You have NOTHING to worry about! All babies are different and do things in their own time. My 7 month old crawls but has yet to sleep through the night!

I was doing that a lot too. Until one day my mum told me something. She needs to learn that she can't be held constantly, once i stopped picking her up everytime she cried at me, she learnt it. also, you can play with her on the ground if she cries in stead of picking her up. But also, each baby is different. i knew one girl whose daughter didn't crawl til she was 11 months. It all depends on the lifestyle and personality of your child.

try tummy time more, the more she's on the ground the better put toys a little out of reach to encourage her to get them herself. be on the floor with her if she's not used to it. my baby can't crawl yet either but she's slowly getting there be patient soon you'll see her around and about

Ryvi is not crawling either at 7 months =) though he likes to be on standing position. he can sit but still I'm assisting him, he a bit wobbly and when excited, screams and falls on his back. he flips on one side and ends up crying as he can't move, sure packs a mean scream there too. LOL. Some say other babies skips crawling and goes straight to walking. =) glad to hear that I'm on the right track still =)

My son is 7 months old, and he does have a little chubby-ness to him but he too is not crawling or scooting of any sort either. I mean dont get me wrong when i put him on his belly he trys too but he ends of some how going backwards. And of the things he likes to do is roll, and he loves to stand up on his feet if you will hold him up. I was told there is i chance that he could walk before he crawls.. Is that really possible?

hi there. my daughter is also 7 months old. she has been crawling for over a month now and just started pulling herself up to standing but she only just started sitting up this week.
just remember that all babies are different and that some learn to walk before they crawl. they all learn in a diff order but i highly doubt it is anything you are doing wrong. and also-you cannot spoil a baby with love. picking her up when she is crying is only gonna make ur bond stronger and make her trust you more. now if she's 7 and its the same situation then ya gotta worry!! LOL. just kidding. but seriously, dont worry, she will do it when she is ready and then you'll be thinking "damn, why'd i teach her that?!"

Heidi, I love how you wrote they are only suppose to crawl at 8 months! LOL All babies are different and will crawl when they want. Some at 5 months, some at 9 months etc.... :)

My son is the same age, and isn't crawling yet. He sure is trying though, getting up on hands and knees, just needs to start moving them!

All children develop at different levels. You shouldn't stress out, she will crawl when she is ready. I have worked with infants, and have seen it all. I had a little girl that walked at 9 months, a one year old that never crawled, just scootched on the floor (on butt), then one day started crawling. One day she will just start doing it!

Tummy time is VERY important though, and having that time, she will learn! Good luck, and enjoy the time, cause when she DOES start crawling....WATCH OUT! LOL

Every babe is different. My 7 month old (Feb 15) is still not even sitting up on her own. She is very petite tho and her doc says she is right on target. I hear mostly of babies starting to crawl around 9-10 months.. and even some after. Don't fret. She just doesn't want to yet. Loves being held by momma better!! :)

Olivia isnt even sitting up on her own,never mind crawling. When on the floor she rolls on to her tummy and rolls back. Shes not too keen on being on her tummy. She can sit for a couple of seconds,but im not in any hurry for her to do these things. She will when shes ready

My daughter is 7 month old and not crawling yet. I think this is completely normal. She's really trying hard to crawl but not quite getting it. I was told that sometimes if your baby doesn't get too much tummy time it can slow this down and sometimes instead of crawling they'll go straight to walking. That's what happened with me. I started walking at 10 months and prior to that no crawling.

I'm so glad someone else is worried about this too. Not only that my LO doesn't have any teeth either! I guess they're just late bloomers and there's nothing wrong with that.

My 7 month old isn't even sitting up yet, crawling, nothing..... babies move at their own pace. As a matter of fact my doctor told me her daughter didn't roll over until 10 months, and just crawled for the 1st time at 12 months... and is now walking, two weeks later... so I'm not worried and you shouldn't worry either....

My LO will be 7 months on the 25th. He is sitting up very well but is not crawling. he loves being on his belly ans gets his but up in the air but not yet caught on to push up with his arms. Should be anytime now.

@ Erica Kowalik - yeah i would say that my little girl talks more... she says dad and has even said daddy... disappointed it wasn't mummy lol! she learns new sounds and copies fast, hadn't thought of it that way thanks.

My son just turned 7 months and he isnt crawling yet either. some babies just learn faster than others. dont worry its not your faukt she will get there and when she does you will be sorry lol she will be getting into anything and everything she can get her little hands on good luck!! :) babies dont usually crawl till 8 months well in between.. with a lil practice and help she will be moving around in no time. babies also learn to crawl backwards before they do frontwards lol

For all the ones not crawling yet, would you consider your baby to be more vocal? My little one is movin and groovin but I don't ever really hear anything out of her unless she's upset. Babies tend to focus on one area or another.

My daughter is 7 months old and just figured out how to push her bum up to crawl but she only goes backwards LOL! She loves to stand up holding on to something and when I used to put her on her tummy she would just get frustrated. I still did it every day and then one day she just decided she wanted to go..It's funny watching her go backwards...I miss the days my daughter sat still so enjoy it while you can...once they start to crawl the fun really begins.

my little girl is 7 months and can't crawl yet i don't worry, she pulls her legs up under her but doesn't move forward just pushes herself back lol! she loves standing like your little one, and apparently i never crawled i held on a walked against the furniture! no need to worry they will get there in their own time i just think my little one is lazy lol x

thank goodness there's other 7 month olds out there not crawling yet i was worried I Spoiling my LO to much and that that was why she wasn't crawling but by the sounds of it our baby's will all get there in due time

Neither is my son. He's the same age, but getting more active all the time. Don't worry too much at this stage. They are all different and I'm sure she will soon. Good luck !

Oh and take some of the posts on here with a grain of salt.. seriously. A lot of the women on here i've noticed tend to brag and blow things a tiny bit out of proportion. My first sat up at 5 months, and only started moving around at 11 months. My second is almost 7 months old and still isn't even sitting up by herself. Every baby has their own development, almost nothing is the same, even within the same family.

Hi everyone,
I have 4 children now so 7 months is to early to start crawling. But her on her back and let her roll over herself on to her front and then on her back herself. All babies start crawling at different times mine other three starting crawling about 9 months which is normal so do not panic it is normal. My youngest is 7 months on sunday and isn not sitting up be himself yet let them do it themselves when they are ready. If she starts crying do not pick her up put her back on her back. Every baby is different. Good luck xx

7 months??? My little guy is 7 months and is not even sitting up lol. He WANTS to move, but can't yet! I'm not concerned at ALL. 7 months is still wayyy early. Don't worry about it, baby will move on their own time.

Hi April, my son will be 7 months next week and he's not crawling yet either! I didn't think anything of it until i came on here and saw lots of babies the same age had started crawling! My son also likes to be picked up a lot and doesn't really like 'tummy time' when i do put him on his tummy, he tries to crawl but gets frustrated with himself and ends up crying to be picked up! He prefers to be on his feet so i'm wondering weather he will skip the crawling and go straight into walking?! I don't think we're doing anything wrong as babies develop differently and they will get their in their own time i hope! When do you think we should ask the health visitor about it if they don't start soon? x x
