Congrats, and don't worry too much about having 2 'infants', you would be surprised how much your little one will learn over the next 6 months to make it easier for the second one. I had my first little girl in sept 09 and our second little girl in feb 11, so theres 16months between them, and we've started trying again as its quite nice to have them so close together. My oldest girl, now 2 is so loving towards her sister, and even when she was first born she liked to help me get things, and with your baby being about 14months they should be really close, not initially as there is a bit of jealousy, but as I've found, once my baby start 'playing' and was able to sit and crawl her sister loves to play with her. It can be hard at times during the pregnancy, like if your quite rough sickness wise as i used to find it really hard to change nappies-and would often change my daughter right next to the toilet just in case i was sick, and its hard as they get to about 12/15months when they can't quite walk well enough, but object to pushchairs, and so you end up carrying a really heavy child, and having an enormous tummy! Its hard for the first month or so with sleep deprivation of a new born, and then all the activity that a 1year old needs, but as long as you make sure you get the rest if you can, maybe try timing baby and toddlers naps similarly so you can at least get an hour to put your feet up. Good luck xx

Pamela....

It is very different I had such bad morning sickness this time, but it seems to have passed now.

The bfing is so painful now, since about 10 days ago. :( I am gritting my teeth when he feeds!!

TBH I couldn't stop if I tried.... He wont drink from a bottle,..

He has taken a few ounces over the weekend from my mother, So progress.... :D xx

I feel this is a girl... I dont really mind...

I always thought I would want two boys first, But now I don't mind at all! :)

Thanks! Congrats! So far is this one different then your first pregnancy? This one is so much different! I didn't know I was pregnant I had no symptoms with this one (I really didn't have many with my first) So I didn't even find out until I was almost 11 weeks! What are you guys wanting? I did still breast feed a couple of weeks after I found out I was pregnant but gave it up because I was dropping weight like crazy and figured that wasn't good. I lost 13 pounds in my first trimester and I have no morning sickness...not only that but my daughter has been having a hard time gaining weight and now that I stopped nursing her she's put on 2 1/2 pounds in 3 weeks! That's never happened she normally puts on 1/2 a pound a month and they've been running all of these tests on her to see if there was anything wrong I wish I could still nurse and I hope it works out for you throughout your pregnancy!

Hiya Pamela..
I am 8 weeks now.... Delighted and scared too..
My little boy will be 15months when the new one arrives..
I am still Bfing but I do worry about the effects on me and the NB I keep asking the Health Nurse and she keeps saying its fine, so I am waiting to see what they say in the hospital, don't have an appointment for another 5 or 5 weeks yet so, just have to wait and see.
I hope you get your boy! x

My daughter was born february 11th 2011 we're currently almost 14 weeks pregnant with our second...NOT PLANNED! I was on birth control and nursing at the same time. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I stopped nursing :-( didn't want it to be too hard on my body being pregnant and nursing considering I had a hard enough time gaining weight with my first child. We wanted to wait at least 3 years before we started trying again but that didn't happen! Lol We're very excited hoping for a BOY this time! I am so nervous on how it's going to be with a newborn and a 14 month old :( Cause I remember how it was with her and this time having 2 I can't sleep in cause I'll have my 14 month old to take care of! I'll make it through it good thing I'm a stay at home mom and don't have to go to work on top of it all!

My son was born Feb 14th and we are expecting our second child March 15th. This was planned as we want to have our children close in age, we did not use any contraceptives and I breastfeed until he was 4 1/2 months and then I had to stop because he was having difficulty digesting my protein. We are super excited and get to find out what we are having on the 27th of October.

Thanx Sequoia!

It is lovely to hear from some-one who doesnt think I am mad and some-one not telling me it is going to be awful!

My own mother thinks I am crazy! She got pregnant while breastfeeding a 4 week old and ended up with a 3.5yr old an 11 month old and a newborn and she says it was too hard. She ended up having twins when her first 4 were young and she just thinks that it was too hard and that i should leave 3 or 4 year gaps.

My DH is so involved though, unlike my dad, so I know together we want our kids close so we will cope and enjoy it! x

I had twins on April of 09, and then had my little guy on Feb 26th. I had 3 under 2 years old. I'm going to be waiting quite a while before I try again, maybe even waiting until my twins are 5 or so. :-)

Christina, It was the other way round in my house, my DH has been trying to get me to start trying since LO was 2/3 months! he woud love 12 months or less between them all, now I kinda wish we had tried earlier, but I think thats just cos I am mad to move the pregnancy along and tell everyone, probly be glad I left it the bit longer when LO2 arrives! :D x

Good luck! We are going to start trying now, too. Our son was born Feb 24 and we would like him to have a sibling close to his age. I am also no spring chicken, so that is making us rush as well. I have to admit, I am a bit nervous. I remember what it was like having a newborn... is it going to be super difficult with both? I know I will adapt, but just thinking about it is a little scary. My brother and sister in law are due with their first in early Dec. and want me to babysit full time.... so yet another consideration.

My little guy was born a few wks before my daughter's 3rd birthday. We wanted them to be closer but had a miscarriage that set us off schedule several months. This time we'll start earlier because I'd like around a 2 year gap. If the next one comes a little earlier that is just fine. My mom had an 11-month gap between me and my brother, and my sister had a 10-month gap between her 2 first kids (w/ a preterm birth). I know that it was really hard on their bodies (and then there's the sleep deprivation and stress of caring for 2 infants).

Aw that is lovely, Are they boys or girls?
I don't really mind what I have as long as it is a healthy baby, A brother would be lovely for Mac, But I would love a girl, so it is all good! xx

I don't plan to get pregnant until my little guy is 1yr-old which is also when I plan to stop nursing. I don't want to nurse and be pregnant for my body's sake. I just try my hardest to stay hydrated while nursing, pregnancy would not help. I've also just reached my pre-pregnancy weight and plan to lose a few more pounds before my next pregnancy. My husband has another promotion in the next year and we don't know where we'll be relocated to at this point. Depending on what we know in February may also determine how soon I go off the pill. I don't want to move in the last Tri. (especially since my kiddos were born at 6wks and 5wks early: 2 totally different reasons). I don't want to wait too long before we start on #3 but I also have to wait until the timings right. I don't want a lot of stress affecting my pregnancy and the health of my baby.
