Anyone else DONE after this?

My husband and I have one beautiful daughter who will be 2 in March. Our twin girls are actually due on her birthday (which was also her due date as well freakishly enough!) but due to some issues I won't be allowed to go past 38 weeks instead of to 40. Long story short, we're good with 3 kids and have decided we are done having kids! He's getting a vasectomy and I would like to get my tubes tied although I'm facing some opposition from my doctor because of my age. I'm 25. I will find another doctor if it comes to that. Has anyone else made this (surprisingly difficult) decision?

Jodi is right you most likely have to sign the papers 30 days a head...it is state law a lot of places...idk about here but I have to fill out papers for insurance 30 days before so they can say yes or no to paying for it. Also I am going to be a month shy of 23 and this will be my second child as well. The hospital I'm delivering at will only allow me to get my tubes tied if I have a c-section which is another thing I have to decide if it is really worth it. Here the hospital and most drs are only ok with it if you are 25 or have had 3 kids. One of the doctors at the office I go to is very against me getting my tubes tied but will do it...going to have a different doctor if I go ahead with a repeat c-section and get my tubes tied

Heather, I dont' know how far along your are but I would suggest talking to your doctor soon. I had several talks with my doctor and it turns out she wasn't really reluctant, it's just that they want to make you really think about it and be SURE it's what you want since it is permanent.

Anyways, you have sign all of the paperwork 30 days before you can have the surgery (some exceptions do apply). So if you're close to the end, you may want to think about it now so you can get it done while you're still there or while you're already open for c-section if that be the case. I had no idea about the whole 30 day thing!!!!

I plan on getting my tubes tied as well, but I havent had the chance to talk to my Dr about it. But I hope they do not try and talk me out of it. I will only be 23 still when this happens. But we are good with 2 kids.

We are done for sure. This baby is baby #4 surprise #3 and my Dr. is totally fine with me being fixed, but I want to do the essure so I do not have to go through surgery. I just need to talk to him more. I am only 29 and Dr. is totally fine my choice.
I do not understand why any Dr. would have a say in a choice you make as a couple/family, other than just making sure you are totally sure with your choice.

I will have 2 little girls after this pregnancy so we will most likely try for a 3rd for a little boy, and if it was another girl that would be it for me!!!

My hubby and I recently came to the same decision he is also getting a vasectomy, he doesn't want me to get my tubes tied for fear of complications. This is gonna be our fourth little girl together, and he has two little girls from relationships before we met.

I was done after #2 but oopsy here comes #3. I am 38 and my oldest son will be 4 in May and my 2nd son 2 on Christmas Day. Pretty sure this one is a girl from the ultrasound. My husband had a vasectomy so we no that this is it. As unplanned as this one was though we are very happy and excited to be having a 3rd.

This is my 2nd baby and we're not sure whether we want to try again later on or not. We have decided that for now we'll just use some sort of birth control until we both know for sure what we want. If we do try for one more in a couple years that one will definitely be our last and he said he'd get snipped. A vasectomy has less risks to it and can more easily be reversed at a later time if we were to decide to change our minds.

I done having babies after this one as well. I have already talked it over with my doctor and I know if my tubes aren't tied after this baby I will be pregnant again soon. My husband has a 15 year old son and 12 year old daughter from his first marriage and together we have a 3 1/2 year old daughter and a 1 1/2 year old daughter and this baby will be another girl. Even though I wanted a boy I will be DONE. 3 is enough for me.

yep i'm done to after this, i've got a son who will be 3 1/2 when i'm due and now i've got my girl on the way that's all i wanted was one of each, but this hasn't been the easiest pregnancy bleeding early on and now vagina pain ouch it's painfull. i'm done i'm 33 and the risks get higher as you get older so now i just need to convince my partner to have the vasectomy, because i've done my fare share of birth controll before we had kids so now it's his turn, he just thinks it wont work after he get's it done, you know what men are like or he might end up with another one lol. let's hope it won't come to that

This is baby number four for us. And we are done!

My doctor also has issues with me getting a tubal ligation. I am 29 years old. I do not do well with taking birth control pills regularly. And have tried many other methods. I hated having my IUD and even had to have it surgically removed because it was not able to be pulled out like it should be. And we have already talked about adoption as our next option if we want more kids. After I told her our thought process, our other issues with birth control methods and etc, she understood that we have seriously thought about it, and will go ahead and start the necessary paperwork to have it done while I am in the hospital after birth.

Good luck to all you ladies!

Yep! I'm done, too. Hubby's getting snipped after the baby's born because surgery for me is really dangerous. No more babies after this. :)

I'm 28 yrs old and having my 3rd boy. I want to be done after this and if I want another one I might adopt so I can for sure get a girl. But I don't think I could have my tubes tied. I just don't like the option being taken away from me. Although I am a very undecisive person and might decide that I want to have another one. I love being pregnant.

My doctor could care less how many kids I have, she doesn't want to do it because I'm not 30. Birth controls with hormones in send me into a near psychotic spiral and I don't want to rely on condoms or the copper IUD (which raises your chances of infection) and end up with 5 more kids by that time!!! I have another appointment Monday and if she doesn't agree that's when I'll start searching for a doctor who will do it. She seems to think that we've made a rash decision, when in reality, we knew all along what we've wanted, we've just reached our limit sooner than we expected!

I have!! well we have together...I have a son who will be 6 in March and we are expecting a baby girl in February...I am absolutly done being pregnant!! I am getting my tubes tied and I will be 23 in March. Here in my state or town or something like that you have to be either 25 or have 3 kids and you fit both of those so I'd find a new dr for sure!! I am only allowed to have it as long as I have a c-section again which is what I am having problems knowing I want. I know that I don't want to be pregnant again and I WANT my tubes tied...i am just leary about the second c-section. I am trying to talk him into a vasectomy too b/c all surgeries are $15 through his insurance no matter what it is!! I don't see why he shouldn't. It wasn't really difficult in the begining. I knew it was what I wanted...but the more I start to enjoy this pregnancy and the closer I get to not being pregnant anymore the harder it is, but I still know I don't want to go through another pregnancy so I will go through with it either way!
