So I went to my dr appointment today hoping for good news. They did all the routine stuff and found that the glucose levels in my pee were super high (even tho I have no problem with my blood sugar), my BP was higher than normal, i am starting to lose weight again, my cervix is soft and starting to dilate and the babys head is WAY down. I told them that I could feel a lot of pressure and some discomfort where her head was and suddenly i am being prescribed antibiotics for a "bladder infection". Now I have had several of these in my past, before i found out that an unknown latex allergy can cause them, and with every one there was pain when needing to pee, having to pee very often, fever, etc....none of which I have now. The discomfort i feel is exactly where he said her head was (which is lower down than the bladder). I recall my last appointment before having my first daughter that there was a trace of glucose, higher bp and loss of weight but the dr i have this time says its a bladder infection. I just don't get it. I seriously think I would be able to tell if that was what my problem was.

Just had to vent, feeling slightly annoyed

Yea id go to the hospital then bc there is truely no reason to take unnecessary antibiotics when you're not pregnant you REALLY dont want to take them when you are!

That's exactly what bothers me. They didn't say anything at all about the super high glucose level or the BP. Unfortunately I don't have a regular dr here because my husband can't get insurance thru his work and we can't afford to pay out right. I have been thinking about going to the hospital in the next town over tho and having them check and get another opinion. I don't want to be taking 1500mg of antibiotics a day for 5 days(if nothing is wrong) and then be on antibiotics when i go into labor too, that seems like a whole lot of antibiotics to be going into one's system over a period of a couple weeks or less. Oh, and I am 37w 2d so it really could be any time now.

I can understand your frustration! Doctors can seem like such arrogant idiots at times. I dont know how things work at your hospital, but I'd go there and have them check it out. Or you could always go to your regular dr for the "bladder infection" bc you dont want to take meds you dont need. Did they say any thing about your higher blood pressure and high glucose in your urine? You would definatly have a distinct discomfort if it was a bladder infection and you are probably going to know better if your going to be having a baby soon since you have been through it before.

what did they say about the high bp, soft cervix, etc... id think theyd keep you a bit and monitor you. how many weeks are you now? i dont see how those things would make it a baldder infection. id be going for a 2nd opinion. good luck to you!

That does sound weird considering most of us have that discomfort when bubs head is down that low. Maybe you should go get a second opinion.
