Are any of you dealing with gestational diabetes? I had to take my glucose test early this time around, due to earlier swelling in my legs/ankles/feet than before & my pre-eclampsia scare around 38 weeks last time. I ended up being border-line GD enough to where I need to have it monitored. I have to do a blood sugar test 4 x a day for the rest of my pregnancy & have already been doing this since about 18 weeks, I am now 24 weeks. It really sucks poking your fingers & trying to get blood to come out 4 times a day! I have to have another ultrasound at 30 weeks to make sure the baby isn't getting too big already. :/ I am glad I get to have another u/s, but nervous at the same time! You don't realize how many things have hidden carbs in them, until you test your blood & find out.. even boring cereal has a ton. Have any of you had GD previously & had to monitor for diabetes even after the pregnancy? This is what I am afraid of.. I have a pretty good handle on what I can & cannot eat, but it gets hard some days. Quick meals it seems either have too many or not enough carbs! Any ideas for quick meals out there, ladies?? I have a picky husband that normally does the cooking & a 2 1/2 year old to boot! :) Any encouragement or tips are appreciated :)
