My daughter didn't walk until 15mo old, not even any signs of walking!! She just wanted to sit and read books, when she decided she wanted to walk she took to it like a dream. She's now 3 and walks better than her cousin who started walking at 9.5mo! She is more sturdy and much lighter on her feet!

Wait it out. According to my brother-in-law, who is a doctor, the average age for walking now is 14 months. In fact, the average age for crawling is 10 months. Your daughter was ahead of the game. Don't worry...it will happen!

My nephews were almost 15 months... my daughters were both about 2 weeks after their 1st bdays, my oldest son was 9 1/2mths (possibly adhd) and my little one will be 1 on the 18th and he only started thinking about taking steps ( i thought he was going to be late because he was so cautious lol).. he takes sideways steps to walk with his one foot and kinda drags the other foot on his toes. They are all different!!

My first born now 4 started walking at 10mns my twins now 2 1/2 started walking at 13 mns and my youngest who will be one on 2-20 started walking 11 mns

My kids pediatrician told me the average age a child starts walking is 14 mns

It will come, just let him do what he is doing. My grandson will be one on the 19th and he is not walking yet doing the same as your son, but i know he will get there. My son was 14mths before he did. It just takes a little longer for some, the same with cutting teeth my grandson ashton only as two teeth yet. From sylvia

My daughter will be 1 on the 26th of Feb. she's not walking either, cruising but not walking. even though I know she's right on track and there's nothing wrong I think as mothers we can't help but worry sometimes. The good thing is all the research shows theres no link between walking age and IQ later in life. A kid who walks at 15 months might end up being smarter then a kid who walks at 9 months. There's no correlation between the two or any reason to worry about your child's development (assuming of course they don't have a disorder they were born with)

My eldest son david started walking independently on his 1st birthday and Callum is 1 on 17th feb and is cruising round the furniture and walls. We are giving him practice walking between us but we arent forcing it. No two children are the same be patient he will go when he is confident enough and ready. I wouldnt worry at this stage I started walking at 9 months but my sister was 14 months and theres nothing wrong with her x x x

Hi Hun, don't worry at all, every child is completely different, my first daughter walked at 11mths, but my second didn't walk til she was 14mths, and now my 3rd is walking way early at 10mths, but most babies don't start walking til after their 1st birthday, so don't worry to much, if he doesn't look like he is in pain when he is standing then I wouldn't worry yet, it could just be that his legs are not strong enough yet (or being a bit lazy and wanting to sit) if he is walking around the furniture I'm sure his legs are fine, but if he looks in discomfort when standing or in pain when walking then I would defiantly take him to another doctor.

HI there.. I have 4 sons, one walked at 14 months, the second, 11 months, the 3rd 9 months and the current one is 10 months and not walking. I too was worried about the first one as he'd walk aorund furniture or hand held, but not on his own for very long. I took him to 3 different GP's and they said nothing was wrong, It's normal for kids to be like that til 2 y/o. In my heart I wasn't satisfied - so I took him to a podiatrist (they specialise in legs and feet) and he had twists in his bones which would have required surgical treatment had we left him for a couple more years to sort out. He's fine now. He wears orthotics, one leg is 100% and the other has only a few degrees to go, he's only nearly 7 - and no surgery!!! I'm not saying this is what is wrong with your child, I have no idea of your child or situation . But if you are concerned, take him to get checked out. You can't go wrong, if something needs treating, then you have sorted it early, and if nothing is wrong you'll be at peace within yourself, and no longer worried! :-)

You definitely have nothing to worry about. Some children start walkink when they are 9 mnths, other when they are 14 mnths or even later. My older daughter start walking 2 days after her 1st birthday when little one is 1 on Feb 21 and just 16th of Jan she started to crawl ;) It's the same with teeth growing.

My oldest was 10 months, my second started a couple days before he turned 1 and my little girl is now 11 months and has started walking. Every little one will start walking when they are ready, no need to worry at all. Some walk early and walk later on. Dont worry at all, he will walk, its a good sign when they walk around furniture, my daughter did that for a couple of months before taking her first steps.

Hi, let him be a baby, there's no right or wrong age for kids to do anything, there guidlines,, it'll happen. My son & daughter were both 15 mnths when they first walked, but hit other milestones at completely different ages. His fine.

My daughter will be 1 on the 27th feb and she isn't walking either, se will stand against furniture but hasn't quite grasped walking around it yet lol she will walk in her walker but not alone. Some babies just prefer to crawl for longer and take their time to walk :)

Don't sweat it! I didn't worry too much when my daughter was still crawling and not even pulling up by her 1st birthday. But when months 13, 14, and 15 passed, I was pretty concerned! Our pediatrician said she would be fine. She was continuing to show progress and would walk any day now. They don't worry until the child reaches 18 months and isn't walking.



2 weeks later, at 15 1/2 months, she took her first steps. Children will reach their milestones in their own timing. Don't rush it. =) You'll just stress yourself out needlessly.

My daughter didn't walk until she was 15 1/2 months. She is now 2 1/2 and runs all over the place! My son will be one in about a week, and is not yet walking. He will walk holding onto a walker, and pulls to standing. They do it when they are ready.

I had a little girl at day care that was the same way. She would walk holding on to things and sometimes walk to things but that was it. They all go at their own speed. My uncles little boy didn't start walking well untill after his first birthday. If you feel something is really you should get another doctor to look at him.

No worries, my first walked early early but she was later diagnosed with ADHD, she was 7 months and 3 weeks (now she is 13 years). My son walked on his 1st birthday ( he is 15 months). They all walk on their own time, he will walk very soon, especially if he is cruisin furniture... I think boys can take longer, my husband was 14 months before he walked, I was 9 months... They say not to be concerned until after 18 months. Your boy has a ways to go before then and I guarentee he will be running by his 18 month mark! ;)
