I found out at my appointment today that I tested positive for strep B this time. I was told that when I go into labor they want me to go in immediately so I can be on IV antibiotics 5 hours before the baby is born. The thing is...My first child had the be induced after being 1 1/2 weeks late and I was in labor for 28 hours. I don't want to go to the hospital at the first site of labor and spend forever up there on IV's n stuff but I also don't want to wait too long and end up with not enough time. I was wondering if anyone else has been induced before and had a regular labor and if so how long did the natural labor take vs the induced.

i had strep b, but i got sent home the morning i delivered my son because i "wasn't going anywhere" and 3 hours later i was back at the hospital and my son was crowning, i didnt get a chance to get any IV's or anything. they gave me, sorry, im about to get graphic, they gave me a pill in my bum about 2 minutes before i finished pushing him out, and that's all they could really do. they did the checks on the baby to make sure that he was ok and that them sending me home didn't cause him to get it and he was fine. this is my first child so i've never had any drug help or induction. and surprisingly it didn't really hurt as bad as i thought it would. but maybe that's the shock talking. lol

Congrats on your new baby boy!!! I was juat on antibiotics for a" bladder infection" so if I go soon I should still have some in my system when I give birth even if I don't make it to the hospital in time to get much. My labor with my first child was horrible but i've been told that induced labors are way worse than natural labors. I'm hoping to find out for myself when I have this baby girl. Lol

This hospital doesn't do antibiotics until labor starts. I had heard before that the reason was because it could come back before delivery and still cause a problem. I have known a few friends to have it but thankfully never known anyone who's baby has had an problems due to it. Other than going to the hospital soon after labor starts I am just gonna leave it in God's hand. I know He will keep my baby girl safe.

I had my strep b test too. I am waiting on the results. The doctor said though that if I did have it they would have me on antibiotics immediatly. And hope it would be cleared up before I had the baby. Id discuss this further with your doctor. Good luck to you!

ha ha, I was the other way. I had colds with my last two and have been fairly healthy with this one. I also have Gestational Diabetes with this one and not the other two. I'm trying to take it all in stride. I know things could be worse but it just seems like I'm failing every test.

I found it odd that i tested positive for it this time but not last time. I do know that ones immune system plays a role in the pos or neg results. I have had horrible morning sickness the whole time this time around and had a cold when they tested me where-as last time i was never sick

Well I'm in the Strep B club too. I'm on antibiotics now and then will when I go into labor too but they never told me to come in early. My first was natural and I was there for 4 hrs before he was born and the second was induced and from the the time they started the induction til he was born was 6 hrs so it's hard to say. every child is different. I wish you luck. If it make you feel any better the info I got from the hospital says only 1 or 2 in every 100 mothers with Group B strep passes it on to baby.
