I know someone else has already asked this question but I'm curious to see how much weight everyone has gained so far. at my last appointment (18 weeks) I had gained 5 pounds. I kind of freaked out because I hadnt gained any weight up until that point and then all the sudden in one month bang! 5 pounds. Once I realized that over the next 4 months if I only gain 5 pounds a month I will only have gained like 25 pounds...so thats not bad. I also read somewhere that at this point in the pregnancy and moving forward we should be gaining about a pound a week...so where is everyone else at with their weight gain?

i didnt gain much at all in the first few months, and my doctor wasnt happy with that. but now, at 6 months, i have gained 14 pounds. i read somewhere that in the last trimester youll gain an average of 11 pounds. with my daughter, i was overweight, and had gestational diabetes and gained 32 pounds. i hope i stay around the average 20-25 pounds this time.

I am 23 weeks with twins, my doctor told me 24 lbs by 24 weeks is optimum! Well, after initially losing 30 lbs and being put on a special diet...I have gained back...dun dun dun dun...1.5 lbs. :( I'm supposed to gain 40 lbs by the end of my 38 weeks and I just simply cannot fit more food into my stomach! My doc thinks I'm purposefully trying to not gain weight...but I lost 25 lbs with my first child and only gained 15 of that back by the end (after being put on the same diet I'm on now, just less calories.). It's frustrating, but I know I'm doing what I can and my babies are healthy thus far.

I absolutly agree Brenna! I keep thinking about this! I have just been worried b/c I have a limited amount of weight I can gain and I already had weight that I wanted and needed to lose before I got pregnant...it is so weird b/c my stomach has been bigger then when i went into labor with my son since I was probably 18 weeks and I gained 44 lbs with him and I lost 12 have gained 8 and I am HUGE!!! HOW!? I have lost a lot in my thighs, butt, and my "love handles" I do not understand why anyone would want to call them love handles b/c they make me sick...and I want to call them make me feel like a fatty handles!!
=( ne way!!! No one should really worry b/c from my experience it is just b/c I gained way too much with my son...thankfully I lost it all but I waited 6 years to have another baby and gained that 44 lbs back plus some!! eh!

ok so i had my 24 wk apmnt earlier this week and only gained a pound in the last month so that brings me to 6 pounds total gained so far. To the moms worried about gaining too much I'm sorry I hyped this up!! I think I am just more concerned because I gained 60 pounds with my first and never really lost the weight so I have to be really careful this time around. If you are normal weight I think its normal to gain about 30 pounds, and if you are overweight you only should gain about 20 pounds. But here's the thing, if you go over you just have to work harder after you have the baby to get it off which just sucks afterwards but as long as you are "healthy" and dont have gestational diabetes you should be ok!

I gained too much: 20 pounds by 24 weeks. :( I think I went a little overboard with being able to eat more fat than normal. I have pancreatitis and found out that while pregnant I can have more fats in my diet without the flair ups! I went a little too far so now I need to slow down. :/

Oh don't worry about it at all!! You haven't gained too much...we are all just really cautious for some reason! There is no reason to be worried I promise...I am just worried b/c I gained 44 lbs when I was pregnant with my son! I have some weight that I needed to lose before I got pregnant so I am not trying to gain too much weight! I have to watch what I put in my mouth and what not b/c I don't want to gain more then I should! Your doctor will let you know if you need to slow down. I am pretty sure that you are probably right on where you should be! What is your weight gain suppose to be at the end 25-30? I don't want to gain more then 20...my doctor and I de

After reading these posts I think I've already gained too much! I'm at 25 weeks and have already gained 14 lbs. This is my first pregnancy, perhaps I'm eating too much. I know I can't diet, but is there anything I can do to slow this down??? I'm being conscious about the calories and walking or doing prenatal yoga everyday... not sure what else I can do here. Any suggestions?

I am 25 weeks today. As of Monday, I had gained gained back 9 of the 17 pounds that I had lost. However, I have lost 8 of the 9 pounds in the last 2 day due to being sick :(

I absolutly agree with Vicky!! I am going to go off topic and then come back I promise! I was a smoker before both of my pregnancies as well...with my son I quit right away and didn't smoke the entire first year. I battled with quiting a lot. I was pregnant last year and as soon as I found out that I miscarried I became a heavy smoker and I quit this time around too and I am not allowed to start smoking again! It is hard I have dreams about smoking now that I have gone nearly 5 months no smoking. I absolutly agree that it is no longer your body when you are pregnant and you have to do what is right for your baby and make sure that you did everything you could have to make sure that baby was born happy and healthy!!!

SO back to the topic I have an appointment tomorrow. I gained 2 lbs last month and I was SO happy b/c my guy has been on my butt about gaining some weight and I finally did! but I am nervous about how much I will have gained at my appointment tomorrow...I gained 44 lbs with my son and I am trying not to gain that much this time around. I am hoping to gain no more then 20 and idk if that includes the weight I lost or not...cuz then I could gain 32 lbs!! LOL!

not entirely sure what i've gained, but for a fact not as much as my 2 previous pg. I'm normally a smoker but VERY anti smoker during pregnancy. I quit with all 3 of my pregnancies and hopefully for good his time. At the end of the day if you want to smoke your body is yours to distroy but i believe when your pregnant your body isn't yours... it belongs to your baby and you are responsible in keeping them safe and well. So i quit! last time i weighed my self i was 17 weeks and i had gained 6lbs, so i don't think that is all to bad. i'm expected to weigh a ton at the end whether it be me or baby.... big babies at almost 11lb don't help. Just enjoy your pregnancy... eat normally and healthy, everything in moderation is fine. You'll lose the weight eventually, whether it be 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years. Having a baby is the best thing any women can go through... ups and downs may be but an experience you will cherish for ever. xx

I've gained 1.5lbs so far (I'm 24 weeks tomorrow). I hadn't gained anything until this past month. According to my scale at home I still haven't gained anything so their scale may need calibrating but I'm not sure. With my first daughter I gained 18lbs total during my pregnancy but I also weighed less when I got pregnant so I'm kinda hoping that I don't gain as much this time.

this pregnancy i've gained a total of 8 lbs so far (i'm 25 weeks) and in my last pg my total weight gain was 19lbs. it is true that a pound a week is pretty average from the middle of the second trimester onward, and in the earlier stages (2nd tri) that weight gain is in fluid, and then in the 3rd tri the baby is the one gaining all the weight (in the last few weeks its a pound a week!)
