The going to bed isn't that bad. We have our bedtime routine, then she kisses everyone goodnight. I put her in her crib & stay with her til she's asleep. But she only sleeps until 10 or 11. I manage to get her back to sleep quickly ( still in her crib) but now she is waking every hour. I'm exhausted. She barley naps during the day & when she does I'm usually at work. I just don't get it. Why won't she sleep, Or settle???

It's hard sometimes because I've been through this to my DD she was staying up from 1-5 am sometimes, as beverly says don't talk and keep it quite, then just lay them back down and re settle them then stand back but don't talk then keep taking step's back away from there cot until you manage to leave the room and there still quite, then just see if they go back to sleep or not and keep trying this and never give milk in there cot's. if they do want milk as mine still wants sometimes take them out and give it to them then put them back to sleep hope it help's but we all still have a few rough night's teething doesn't help but they will get better if not speak to your maternal health centre.

My strategy has been to make sure middle of the night wakings are as dull for the baby as possible. No lights are turned on, mama doesn't talk, I don't even change a diaper unless it is REALLY needed. No playing, no moving around the house. My 16 month old son sleeps with me though, so he does get snuggles and comfort. We went through this a few months ago and I would let him wander around the bed, but wouldn't interact until he layed down. He wanted to wrestle and play, but it was a no go from mom. A few nights of that and he gave up. He still wakes up once a night or so, but now he just snuggles back in once he knows I am there and goes right back to sleep. I know not everyone sleeps with their baby/toddler, but it actually helps everyone get more sleep in my house. Your milage may vary.

When you get an answer please let me know. My daughter is 15 months old and goes to sleep pretty well but wakes up at 10, 1, 3 all over the board. When she wakes up she is up for a couple hours sometimes. I can' t do what a lot of people suggest and let her cry herself back to sleep. My house is good sized however the bedrooms are close together and I don't want her waking the entire family who is trying to sleep. I usually get up with her and hold her until she falls back asleep. I'm tired.
